Biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles by Psidium guajava plants with antibacterial, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and photocatalytic capacity

AbstractWith an increasing focus on green technologies, this research aimed to synthesize copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) using leaf extracts from Allahabad Safeda and Hisar Safeda for environmental and health protection. A range of concentrations of leaf extracts were employed in the synthesis of nanoparticles, utilizing 1–9% extract from Allahabad Safeda and 3–11% extract from Hisar Safeda. The synthesized CuO-NPs were characterized by UV–visible spectrophotometry, Dynamic light scattering, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and Scanning electron microscope with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. CuO-NPs synthesized using 3% Allahabad Safeda extract and 5% Hisar Safeda extract exhibited a particle size of 15.88 nm and 14.05 nm, respectively. CuO-NPs synthesized with Allahabad Safeda extract exhibited superior antibacterial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and photocatalytic properties. Their antibacterial tests demonstrated significant inhibition zones against Staphylococcus aureus (20.5 cm), Streptococcus latis (20.7 cm), Escherichia coli (19.5 cm), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (19.7 mm). Additionally, CuO-NPs from Allahabad Safeda extract (70 µg/mL) exhibited 68.23% of scavenging activity against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl. Moreover, the same CuO-NPs at 100 µg/mL concentration showed 67.32% α-amylase inhibition and 75.18% α-glucosidase inhibition, confirming their antidiabetic activities. Furthermore, these nanoparticles demonstrated high performance in photocatalytic degradation, by degrading 82.31% methylene blue and 88.54% crystal violet within 150 min of UV irradiation. Overall, the findings highlight the feasibility of CuO-NPs synthesis using Allahabad Safeda extract and their potential applications in antibacterial treatment, combating diabetes, antioxidation, and environmentally friendly dye photodegradation process. Three-dimensional dendritic biosynthetic copper oxide nanoparticles: A novel approach for enhanced leaf deposition and retention to reduce environmental impact

Copper-based fungicides are commonly utilized as protective germicides; however, their susceptibility to rain-induced washing leads to a substantial copper exposure, resulting in significant environmental pollution and potential ecological risks. This study focuses on the biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles at room temperature, utilizing copper sulfate pentahydrate and tea seed cake extract as reactive raw materials. The obtained copper oxide nanoparticles exhibit a distinctive dendritic three-dimensional topology. Notably, these copper oxide nanoparticles demonstrate superior wettability and spreadability on tomato, rice, and wheat leaves compared to the commercial formulation of copper hydroxide (Kocide). The retention amount of copper oxide nanoparticles on the surface of plant leaves after rain washing exhibited a 75.89% to 84.31% increase compared to that of Kocide, attributed to the structural chimerism of copper oxide nanoparticles and the micro-nano structure of leaves. Regarding antimicrobial activity against Magnaporthe oryzae and Clavibacter michiganense, copper oxide nanoparticles showed better residual activity and a longer persistent period than Kocide. Safety experiments demonstrated that copper oxide nanoparticles had minimal adverse effects on wheat plants, while in vivo studies in zebrafish revealed their effectiveness in reducing toxicity by over five-fold compared to Kocide. Furthermore, soil ecosystem assessments highlighted the high biocompatibility of copper oxide nanoparticles with Escherichia coli. Consequently, the prepared copper oxide nanoparticles hold significant promise as an eco-friendly alternative to traditional copper-based fungicides.

Utilization of Eco‐friendly Copper Oxide Nanoparticles and Iron Oxide Nanorods in Dye Removal from Real Textile Industry Effluent

AbstractTextile industry wastewater contaminated with dye effluents poses a significant environmental challenge. Numerous nanoparticles are used as adsorbents to treat similarly stimulated wastewater, but particularly nanomaterials synthesized through green methods have gained prominence. To assess their practical applicability in addressing real‐world textile wastewater pollution, studies on dye removal from authentic textile industrial effluents are recommended. As a result, a study focused on the removal of dye from real textile industrial effluent is conducted, and biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles and iron oxide nanorods are chosen as adsorbents. The investigation scrutinized the influence of adsorbent dosage, adsorbent‐adsorbate contact time, and wastewater pH on the percentage of dye adsorption. These findings indicate that increasing the adsorbent dosage and contact time leads to a higher percentage of dye removal. Notably, copper oxide nanoparticles exhibit superior dye removal efficiency at pH levels 5 and 7, outperforming the maximum dye removal efficiency of iron oxide nanorods at pH 12. The study achieved an impressive process efficiency of 95.24% for copper oxide nanoparticles and 62.5% for iron oxide nanorods. Response surface methodology (RSM) is employed for statistical data analysis and optimization of dye removal process parameters to maximize efficiency. Overall, the results demonstrate that biosynthesized nanomaterials offer a promising and effective solution for removing dyes from textile industrial wastewater.

Biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles using Tecoma stans flower extract and its antibacterial, anticancer, and photocatalytic activities

Now a days, green synthesis of metallic nanoparticles obtained huge special attention owing to their safe, biocompatible and biodegradable nature. Here, we describe the green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) using Tecoma stans (T. stans) flower extract. The physico-chemical properties of the CuO NPs were studied using different characterization techniques. The UV Visible spectrum showed a characteristic peak at 360 nm confirming the synthesis of green CuO NPs. FE-SEM study clearly indicated that synthesized CuO NPs are in spherical shaped morphologies. The green synthesized CuO NPs were carried out bactericidal activity against various clinical pathogens by agar well diffusion techniques. Interestingly, CuO NPs were exhibited very good bacterial killing efficiency against of Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. The in vitro anticancer activity of the T. stans flower mediated CuO NPs were tested against A549 lung cancer cell line. Further, AO/EtBr staining assay used to determine the apoptotic changes in cancer cell treated with CuO NPs were identified by fluorescence microscopy. The dye-degrading capability of the synthesized CuO NPs were assessed against methylene blue dye (MB) molecules. Finally, this study reveals that the synthesized nanomaterials could performed as a promising candidate in numerous biomedical applications like antimicrobial, anticancer, and dye degradation system.

Innovative microwave-assisted biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles loaded with platinum(ii) based complex for halting colon cancer: cellular, molecular, and computational investigations.

In the current study, we biosynthesized copper oxide NPs (CuO NPs) utilizing the essential oils extracted from Boswellia carterii oleogum resin, which served as a bioreductant and capping agent with the help of microwave energy. Afterwards, the platinum(ii) based anticancer drug, carboplatin (Cr), was loaded onto the CuO NPs, exploiting the electrostatic interactions forming Cr@CuO NPs. The produced biogenic NPs were then characterized using zeta potential (ZP), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. In addition, the entrapment efficiency and release profile of the loaded Cr were evaluated. Thereafter, SRB assay was performed, where Cr@CuO NPs demonstrated the highest cytotoxic activity against human colon cancer cells (HCT-116) with an IC50 of 5.17 μg mL-1, which was about 1.6 and 2.2 folds more than that of Cr and CuO NPs. Moreover, the greenly synthesized nanoparticles (Cr@CuO NPs) displayed a satisfactory selectivity index (SI = 6.82), which was far better than the free Cr treatment (SI = 2.23). Regarding the apoptosis assay, the advent of Cr@CuO NPs resulted in an immense increase in the cellular population percentage of HCT-116 cells undergoing both early (16.02%) and late apoptosis (35.66%), significantly surpassing free Cr and CuO NPs. A study of HCT-116 cell cycle kinetics revealed the powerful ability of Cr@CuO NPs to trap cells in the Sub-G1 and G2 phases and impede the G2/M transition. RT-qPCR was utilized for molecular investigations of the pro-apoptotic (Bax and p53) and antiapoptotic genes (Bcl-2). The novel Cr@CuO NPs treatment rose above single Cr or CuO NPs therapy in stimulating the p53-Bax mediated mitochondrial apoptosis. Mitigation of the hyperglycemic effect of streptozotocin-induced diabetes albino rats using biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder described by compromised insulin synthesis or resistance to insulin inside the human body. Diabetes is a persistent metabolic condition defined by elevated amounts of glucose in the bloodstream, resulting in a range of potential consequences. The main purpose of this study was to find out how biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) affect the blood sugar levels of diabetic albino rats induced by streptozotocin (STZ). In the current study, CuONPs were successfully biosynthesized using Saccharomyes cervisiae using an eco-friendly method. Characterization results revealed that biosynthesized CuONPs appeared at 376 nm with a spherical shape with sizes ranging from 4 to 47.8 nm. Furthermore, results illustrated that administration of 0.5 and 5 mg/kg CuONP in diabetic rats showed a significant decrease in blood glucose levels accompanied by elevated insulin levels when compared to the diabetic control group; however, administration of 0.5 mg/kg is the best choice for diabetic management. Furthermore, it was found that the group treated with CuONPs exhibited a noteworthy elevation in the HDL-C level, along with a depletion in triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL-C, and VLDL-cholesterol levels compared to the diabetic control group. This study found that administration of CuONPs reduced hyperglycemia and improved pancreatic function as well as dyslipidemia in diabetic rats exposed to STZ, suggesting their potential as a promising therapeutic agent for diabetes treatment.

Tailoring the rheological properties of biosynthesized Copper oxide nanoparticles decorated Carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogels for biomedical applications

Nanoparticle-decorated hydrogels have seized substantial momentum in recent years, exclusively in biomedical research. In this investigation, Copper oxide nanoparticles decorated carboxymethyl cellulose hydrogels were prepared in an eco-friendly approach without using toxic cross-linkers. Initially, Copper oxide nanoparticles were prepared by biosynthesis approach to diminish the harmful effects of chemicals and to improve the biological activities using the leaf extract of Justicia adhatoda. The prepared nanoparticles were incorporated into the Carboxymethyl solution and carbopol to form a hydrogel by non-covalent interactions. X-ray diffraction analysis of CuO nanoparticles revealed a monoclinic crystalline structure without impurity. Rheological investigation of the pure hydrogel and CuO-decorated hydrogels revealed that CuO contributed to the enhancement of the hydrogel's mechanical performance. All the hydrogels demonstrated shear thinning behavior and better flow behavior index with the addition of CuO nanoparticles. The yield stress of the hydrogels was improved and found to be in the range of 61–79 Pa, which matches the ideal yield stress values in transdermal drug delivery. Storage moduli of hydrogels as a function of frequency was doubled (14–47.5 Pa), endorsing the involvement of CuO nanoparticles in crosslinking the polymeric matrix. Temperature and time sweep measurements revealed that the stability of the hydrogels also improved with the addition of CuO nanoparticles. The antibacterial activity of the hydrogels was evaluated using biofilm inhibition and showed better inhibition of 70 ± 0.5%, 75 ± 0.9%, 86 ± 0.8%, and 83 ± 0.8% against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis, respectively with increased concentration of CuO nanoparticles. The cell viability of the CuO-decorated hydrogels against MCF-7 and A431 was found to be 39% and 42%, respectively. Therefore, the eco-friendly biosynthesized CuO nanoparticles decorated hydrogels with improved mechanical properties can be employed in injectable and transdermal drug delivery systems.

Biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) using sodium lignosulfonate and evaluation of its cutaneous wound healing properties

Repairing cutaneous wounds imposes a lot of cost on the country every year. Also, cutaneous wounds healing is delayed for various reasons such as the accumulation of free radicals, hospital infections, lack of sufficient moisture, traditional dressings, etc. Therefore, treatment methods need to be reviewed. In recent years, a wide range of copper ointments or silver-releasing compounds have been prepared and used. These ointments have overcome some of the problems associated with copper preparation. In the current work, an environment-friendly a green procedure was described for fabrication of CuO NPs by using sodium lignosulfonate as a capping/stabilizing reagent under alkaline medium. The characterization of prepared CuO NPs@NaLS were analysed using SEM, EdaX, ICP-OES, elemental mapping and TEM data. The FE-SEM and TEM results show that the CuO NPs@NaLS formed as spherical NPs with size of 20–30 nm. According to the elementaling map analysis, the Cu and C were existence with good dispersion that detected by EDX in the composite. In this study, ointments with a concentration of 0.1% were prepared from nanoparticles based on basal ointment (as the main substance that keeps the medicine on the wound) and used as a topical application. In this way, on the second day, angiogenesis (angiogenesis) and the severity of edema and edema, on the fifth day, fibroblasts, and on the tenth, fibrocytes and collagen fibers were examined. According to the present study results, the skin wound area in the rats treated with topical use of NPs was significantly reduced, and in terms of histopathology, it showed more improvement compared to other groups. Overall, the results of this study show that recent nanoparticles can be used as a fast and effective treatment for skin wounds healing.

Biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles using Caesalpinia sappan extract: In vitro evaluation of antifungal and antibiofilm activities against Candida albicans.

Synthesis of nanoparticles using natural organic substances has attracted more attention due to avoiding inorganic toxicity. This work aimed to synthesize copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) using Caesalpinia sappan heartwood extract as a reducing agent. The effects of pH of synthesis reaction were investigated. The obtained CuONPs were characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Their particle size, size distribution, and zeta potential were determined using photon correlation spectrophotometry. Candida albicans is a major cause of chronic fungal infections due to its biofilms leading to severe drug resistance problems. In this study, in vitro antifungal and antibiofilm activities as well as killing kinetics of the synthesized CuONPs against C. albicans were investigated. Additionally, fungal biofilm was observed by using confocal laser scanning microscopy. The results showed that the pH of the synthesis reaction played an important role in the physicochemical properties and antifungal activities of the obtained CuONPs. CuONPs synthesized at pH 10 and 12 showed the relatively small and narrow size distribution with high negative zeta potential and time-dependent killing kinetics. Confocal laser scanning microscopy confirms obvious fungal biofilm reduction and increased fungal cell death after exposure to CuONPs. These findings suggest the optimal pH of CuONPs synthesis using C. sappan extract as a reducing agent. The results on antifungal and antibiofilm activities indicate that the obtained CuONPs can be a promising agent for treating fungal infection.

Biosynthesis, Characterization and Antibacterial Properties of CuO Nanoparticles of Psychrotrophic Bacteria

Copper oxide nanoparticles have many applications in industry and medicine. Nevertheless, few studies have been conducted in relation to the biological production of these nanoparticles. In the present study, the ability of isolated Psychrotrophic (cold-resistant) prokaryotes from the Zagros highlands located in Lorestan province of Iran and some isolated Streptomyces strains from the Oman Sea has been evaluated in the synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles. The maximum lethal concentration of copper salts was determined for the strains and the strains with the highest level of resistance were selected. The biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles was done extracellularly by inoculating Psychrotrophic and Streptomyces strains in liquid TSB culture medium containing 0.01 M copper sulfate salt and keeping the culture medium in a shaker incubator at 20 °C at 150 rpm. The production of copper oxide nanoparticles was evaluated by changing the color of the reaction solution from light blue to dark green. From the 44 cold-resistant strains and the investigated Streptomyces strains, all strains were able to tolerate concentrations higher than 5 mM. Of these, the strain OSNP13 belonging to the genus Microbacterium liquefaciens (X77444) has been able to synthesize the highest amount of copper oxide nanoparticles. The optical absorption of the solution containing synthesized nanoparticles was determined in the range of 250-350 nm by UV-vis spectrophotometer, which had a specific peak at 288 nm. And the copper oxide nanoparticles have an average size of 63.21 nm based on DLS analysis. The crystallographic characteristics of copper oxide nanoparticles were also determined by using XRD analysis, which showed that the prepared nanoparticles had a hexagonal crystal structure with a size of 31.29 nanometers. Then, the antibacterial activity of produced nanoparticles was evaluated. The MIC values ​​of copper oxide nanoparticles for E. coli and S. aureus bacteria were calculated as 125 and 250 micrograms per milliliter, respectively. The produced copper oxide nanoparticles have shown a good antimicrobial properties and can be suitable candidates for use as antimicrobial agents.

Hypoglycaemic activity of biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles in alloxan‐induced diabetic Wister rats

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder that affects the body's ability to produce or use insulin. This study evaluated the hypoglycaemic activity of biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) in alloxan-induced diabetic Wister rats. CuO-NPs were synthesized via the green route and characterized using different analytical tools. Diabetes was induced intraperitoneally using 90 mg/kg body weight of alloxan monohydrate in albino rats. Thirty (30) rats were randomly divided into 5 groups of 6 rats each and orally treated for 21 days. Groups I and II were treated with 300 mg/kg bwt Cereus hildmannianus extract and CuO-NPs, respectively. Groups III and IV received 5 mg/kg bwt of Glibenclamide and 2 mL of normal saline, respectively, while Group V was left untreated as the diabetic control. Blood glucose (BG) levels and body weight changes were monitored at 3- and 7-day intervals, respectively, throughout 21-day treatment period. Lipid profiles, enzyme assays and histopathological studies of the liver were also carried out. Spheroidal tenorite phase of CuO-NPs with a crystallite size of 62.57 nm, surface area (20.64 m2 /g) and a UV-maximum absorption at 214.27 nm was formed. The diabetic rats treated with 300 mg/kg bwt CuO-NPs had the highest BG lowering ability (from 482.75 ± 27.70 to 124.50 ± 2.50 mg/dL). A significant difference (p < 0.05) in weight gain and serum enzymes was also observed in the CuO-NPs treated group compared with other groups. The CuO-NPs-treated group had a significant increase (p < 0.05) in HDL-cholesterol and a decrease in total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-cholesterol and VLDL-cholesterol compared with other groups. The green synthesized CuO-NPs nanoparticles significantly reduced (p < 0.05) blood glucose levels in rats and other associated indices and could serve as drug lead in the treatment of diabetes.

The Antibacterial Activity of the Biosynthesized Copper Oxide Nanoparticles by Lantana camara Flowers Extract Against Some Bacterial Isolated from Burns

The study included 70 Surface swabs collected from patients in different ages of both genders suffering from burns infections. All the specimens were diagnosed by subculturing in differential and selective media, microscopically and by following the biochemical tests to confirm identifications. Antibiotic susceptibility test was done to all the bacterial isolates.The identification of the clinical isolates showed that the 16(22.9%) were belonged to Staphylococcus aureus and 6(8.6%) of Staphylococcus epidermidis , whereas 23(32.8%),20(28.6%) isolates were for Pseudomonas aeruginosa ,Acinetobacter baumannii respectively. Copper oxide nanoparticles were biosynthesized by Lantana camara flower extracts which acted as a reducing agent for copper nitrate salts, characterization of the metal oxide was done by using Ultra violate visible light Spectroscopy, Fourier transforms Infrared spectroscopy, X-ray Diffraction, Atomic Force Microscopy and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy. The biological activity of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles was screened toward three clinical isolates that showed multiple drug resistance isolated from burns by following agar wells diffusion method which proved the ability of copper oxide nanoparticles to inhibit growth of the clinical bacterial isolates. The minimum inhibitory concentrations were determined toward the tested bacteria by using the microdilution method.

Antibacterial, Antioxidant and Physicochemical Properties of Pipper nigram Aided Copper Oxide Nanoparticles

The Pipper nigram (P. nigram) leaf extract was used for the biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) and the successful formation of the resultant product was confirmed through several physicochemical techniques. The chemical structure and the elemental composition were analysed through Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopies, respectively. The crystalline structure and crystallite size were investigated through an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and a monoclinic crystallite with a size of 40.68 nm was reported. Even-distributed particles with an average particle size of 49.75 nm were seen in the scanning electron micrograph (SEM), whereas the thermal stability was checked during the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The ultra-violet and visible (UV-Visible) spectroscopy was operated to study the light absorbance phenomena and to determine the band gap energy from the absorption edge, which was found to be 1.47 eV. The CuO NPs were used as antibacterial agents against gram-negative bacteria (GNB) and gram-positive bacteria (GPB), and greater inhibition zones were seen against the former one. The antioxidant test was also carried out against 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) free radicals and the antioxidant potential of CuO NPs was found to be higher than ascorbic acid.

Novel Microwave Synthesis of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles and Appraisal of the Antibacterial Application

The exceptional characteristics of bio-synthesized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs), including high surface-to-volume ratio and high-profit strength, are of tremendous interest. CuO NPs have cytotoxic, catalytic, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. Fruit peel extract has been recommended as a valuable alternative method due to the advantages of economic prospects, environment-friendliness, improved biocompatibility, and high biological activities, such as antioxidant and antimicrobial activities, as many physical and chemical methods have been applied to synthesize metal oxide NPs. In the presence of apple peel extract and microwave (MW) irradiation, CuO NPs are produced from the precursor CuCl2. 2H2O. With the help of TEM analysis, and BET surface area, the average sizes of the obtained NPs are found to be 25-40 nm. For use in antimicrobial applications, CuO NPs are appropriate. Disk diffusion tests were used to study the bactericidal impact in relation to the diameter of the inhibition zone, and an intriguing antibacterial activity was confirmed on both the Gram-positive bacterial pathogen Staphylococcus aureus and Gram-negative bacterial pathogen Escherichia coli. Moreover, CuO NPs did not have any toxic effect on seed germination. Thus, this study provides an environmentally friendly material and provides a variety of advantages for biomedical applications and environmental applications.

Facile biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles using Mangifera indica leaf extract: Characterization and bioactivities

In this study, copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) were facilely synthesized via a bio-pathway with the Mangifera indica leaf extract. The characterization results showed the development of monoclinic CuO as relatively stable nanospheres (15 – 40 nm) and also confirmed the great stability of the CuONPs. Bioactivities of CuONPs were assessed against bacteria strains and cytotoxicity. Accordingly, the CuO-2 sample well-restrained the microbe with over 60 % of inhibition at 50 µg/mL as well as exhibited excellent cytotoxicity, especially low IC50 value towards the cancerous HepG2 (1.98 µg/mL). The material also exhibited a negligible inhibitory against normal HEK293 cell lines, which affirms the great biocompatibility in the anticancer activity. Conclusively, green-synthesized CuONPs show good bioactivities and are highly promising for medical applications.

Efficient adsorptive removal of paracetamol and thiazolyl blue from polluted water onto biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles

Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) have received tremendous attention as efficient adsorbents owing to their low cost, desirable surface area, abundant active sites, potent textural characteristics and high adsorption capacities. However, CuONPs have not been employed to decontaminate water laden with increasing environmental contaminants such as thiazolyl blue and paracetamol. Herein, the adsorption of thiazolyl blue and paracetamol onto green synthesized CuONPs prepared from the aqueous leaf extract of Platanus occidentalis was studied. The BET, SEM, FTIR, XRD, EDX and pH point of zero charge showed the successful synthesis of CuONPs having desirable surface properties with a surface area of 58.76 m2/g and an average size of 82.13 nm. The maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of 72.46 mg/g and 64.52 mg/g were obtained for thiazolyl blue and paracetamol, respectively. The Freundlich, pseudo-second-order and intraparticle diffusion models were well fitted to the adsorption of both pollutants. The pH studies suggested the predominance of electrostatic and weaker intermolecular interactions in the adsorption of the thiazolyl blue and paracetamol, respectively. Spontaneous, physical, endothermic and random adsorption of the pollutants on CuONPs was obtained from the thermodynamic consideration. The biosynthesized CuONPs were found to be highly reusable and efficient for the adsorption of thiazolyl blue and paracetamol from water.

This study focuses on the green synthesis of nanoparticles and its utilization in the development of nanotechnology for promoting environmental sustainability. Copper Oxide nanoparticles are synthesized using plant extracts of Coffee, Piper Nigrum, and Coriandrum Sativum containing bio-components acting as reducing agents to reduce 1M Copper Sulphate (CuSO₄.5H₂O) solution., for further formation of Copper Oxide nanoparticles. Instrumental techniques were adopted to characterize the synthesized Copper Oxide nanoparticles, Viz. UV-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). These biosynthesized Copper Oxide nanoparticles were employed as catalysts for the photocatalytic degradation of Methylene blue dye, resulting in a very effective and feasible photocatalyst.

Highly Antifungal Activity of Biosynthesized Copper Oxide Nanoparticles against Candida albicans.

Candida albicans (ATCC SC5314) was exposed to biosynthesized copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) to determine their inhibitory capacity. Nanoparticles were polydisperse of small size (5.8 ± 3.5 nm) with irregular shape. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) against C. albicans was 35.5 µg/mL. The production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) of C. albicans was verified when exposed to different concentrations of CuONPs. Ultrastructural analysis of C. albicans revealed a high concentration of CuONPs in the cytoplasm and outside the cell; also, nanoparticles were detected within the cell wall. Cytotoxic analyses using fibroblasts (L929), macrophages (RAW 264.7), and breast (MCF-12) cell lines show good results of cell viability when exposed at the MIC. Additionally, a hemocompatibility analysis was carried out and was found to be below 5%, considered the threshold for biocompatibility. Therefore, it is concluded that the biosynthesized CuONPs have a high potential for developing a topical antifungal treatment.

Green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles using Abutilon indicum leaves extract and their evaluation of antibacterial, anticancer in human A549 lung and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells.

In currently, biosynthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) are most widely used numerous in biological applications such as biosensor, energy, medicine, agriculture, environmental and industrial wastewater treatment. The hierarchical CuO NPs was synthesized via green chemistry method by using of Abutilon indicum (A. indicum) leaf extract, its nontoxic, facile and low-cost approaches. Biogenic synthesized CuO NPs was characterized by using a UV-visible absorption spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field mission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) with Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) analysis. The synthesized CuO NPs was performed antibacterial activity against human pathogenic organisms of both Gram negative (Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi) and Gram positive (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria by using agar well diffusion method. Biological synthesized CuO NPs was showed potential bactericidal activity against Gram positive bacteria of B. subtilis than compared to Gram negative bacteria of E. coli. The cytotoxic effect of A. indicum mediated synthesized CuO NPs was evaluated against to human lung A549 and breast MDA-MB-231cancer cell lines by determined using of MTT assay. In furthermore, photocatalytic dye degradation was performed that synthesized CuO NPs have effectively removed 78% of malachite green dye molecule. Our investigation results suggested that the green synthesized CuO NPs potential biological activity of antibacterial activity against Gram positive bacterial, anticancer activity was effectively against MDA-MB-231cancer cell line and good dye degradation was exhibited in malachite green. The A. indicum aqueous leaf extract mediated synthesized CuO NPs has strongly suggested promising nano-biomaterials for fabrication of biomedical applications.
