Designed magnetic nanoparticles for ferroptosis: Release of iron ions from metal-organic frameworks modified with iron oxides

The unique chemical properties of the catalytic and biocompatible metal organic framework MIL88b allow for considering it as prooxidant agent. The authors hypothesize whether additional modification of the MIL88b with an additional iron source as Fe3O4 nanoparticles can increase both pro-oxidant activity and provide magnetic properties contributing to target delivery. The prooxidant activity of the Fe3O4-MOF was studied using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and methylene blue degradation reactions in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. To understand the reaction mechanism, the authors studied the released iron ions, as well as the surface composition using the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy method. The addition of iron oxide leads to a more prolonged release of iron ions and the production of hydroxyl radicals within 24 h. The native MIL88b demonstrates the highest Fenton reaction rate due to "sacrificial" behavior (despite lower concentration of iron ions in the composition and on the surface compared to the modified sample) and the blocking of the active centers of MIL88b by Fe3O4 on the surface.

Understanding the Adsorption and Diffusion Behaviors of PBUT in Biocompatible MOFs.

With the increasing incidence of chronic kidney disease, the effective control of protein-bound uremic toxins (PBUTs), which are difficult to remove through dialysis, has become a priority. In this study, the adsorption and diffusion behaviors of several metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for PBUTs (indoxyl sulfate and p-cresyl sulfate) were studied by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and umbrella sampling. For the NU series of MOFs, good correlations between the Gibbs free energy (ΔG) and the experimental clearance rates of PBUTs are found. For the adsorption behaviors, in terms of ΔG, DAJWET exhibits the best adsorption effect for indoxyl sulfate (IS), whereas NU-1000 shows the best effect for p-cresyl sulfate (pCS). Similar trends observed in the radial distribution function and mean square displacement results suggest that the π-π stacking interactions play a crucial role in the adsorption and diffusion of PBUTs by MOFs. Furthermore, it can be concluded that MOFs with highly conjugated groups (porphyrin rings and pyrene groups) tend to generate more PBUT attraction, and provide design principles for potential MOF candidates in the removal of PBUTs.

Composite Materials Based on Biocompatible Metal-Organic Framework and Anthocyanins from Hibiscus sabdariffa for Active Food Packaging

The biocompatible metal-organic framework [Zn4(GA)4(H2O)4] · 4H2O (H2GA = glutamic acid) was used as a container for anthocyanins from Hibiscus sabdariffa in composite films based on kappa-carrageenan and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. The obtained composite materials showed high antioxidant activity and ability to undergo pH-induced color change upon reactions with gaseous products of pathogen development and, hence, possess the potential for practical application as functional materials for food packaging.

Slowing Down the "Magic Bullet": Encapsulation of Imatinib in Fe-MOF for Cardiotoxicity Reduction and Improvement in Anticancer Activity.

Imatinib, a small molecule kinase inhibitor, is used as a cancer growth blocker. However, one of its most serious side effects is congestive cardiac failure. Reducing drug toxicity may be achieved through the use of drug delivery systems. Biocompatible metal-organic framework (MOF) materials, namely FeMIL-100 and FeMIL-101-NH2, were employed as potential imatinib carriers. They efficiently delivered the drug as an anticancer agent while minimizing cardiotoxicity. Notably, the release of imatinib from FeMIL-100 was rapid in acidic conditions and slower in pH-neutral environments, allowing targeted delivery to cancer cells. The carrier's pH-dependent stability governed the drug release mechanism. Two release models-Korsmeyer-Peppas and Weibull-were fitted to the experimental data and discussed in terms of drug release from a rigid microporous matrix. Cytotoxicity tests were conducted on two cell lines: HL60 (a model cell line for acute myeloid leukemia) and H9c2 (a cell line for cardiomyocytes). Overall, the metal-organic framework (MOF) carriers mitigated imatinib's adverse effects without compromising its effectiveness.

Rapid room-temperature synthesis of biocompatible metal–organic framework for enzyme immobilization with improved stability and on-demand release

Enzyme immobilization within metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) addresses the inherent fragility of enzymes, playing a crucial role across diverse industries by improving efficiency and lowering economic costs. While the application of MOFs in the food and pharmaceutical industries is constrained by toxicity concerns, MIL-88A(Fe) emerges as an ideal candidate due to its non-toxicity and biocompatibility. However, the release of encapsulated enzymes is significantly hampered, reducing their bioactivity. Herein, we present a safe and simple platform for creating enzyme@MIL-88A, which provides enzyme stabilization and controlled release. The thermal stabilization of a spectrum of enzymes (phytase, xylanase, amylase, mannanase, and glucanase) is achieved, elevating their endurance threshold to 95 °C. Furthermore, the controlled on-demand release of the encapsulated enzymes at target sites is accomplished by adjusting defects in enzyme@MIL-88A composites via an acid modulation approach, while preserving enzyme activity. This approach has improved the amount of enzyme released from 10 % to 99.7 %. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time enzyme@MIL-88A has been synthesized rapidly under mild conditions for enzyme stabilization and controlled release. Our method offers a universal platform for stabilizing vulnerable biomaterials and the controlled delivery of biological macromolecules.

A l-lysine-coated graphene oxide/magnetic hydroxyapatite/cubic metal-organic frameworks for targeted and pH-controlled release of doxorubicin to cancer cells

Research on biocompatible metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has recently attracted much attention from researchers as drug delivery systems. In this study, for the first time, Cu MOFs grown on graphene oxide capped with magnetic hydroxyapatite (MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4), and then the surface of the resulting nanocomposites was modified with the l-lysine amino acid (Lys-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4) to prepare a controlled and pH-sensitive nanocomposite for targeted delivery of doxorubicin (DOX) to MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells and MCF-10A normal cells. Different techniques confirmed the successful preparation of the designed nanocomposites. The values of encapsulation efficiencies (EE%) for MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 and Lys-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 was found to be 79.3 % and 96.5 %, respectively. The in vitro DOX release results showed that the Lys-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 has a more controlled release than that of MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 due to the slow diffusion of the drug through the Lys shell. In addition, both nanocomposites showed a pH-response release behavior. The release mechanism of DOX by the designed nanocomposites also revealed that the Korsmeyer-Peppas model is the best model to describe the release of the drug. Furthermore, in vitro cytotoxicity investigation confirmed that the prepared MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 and Lys-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 nanocomposite had good biocompatibility against MDA-MB-231 and MCF-10A cells. Whereas, DOX-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 and DOX-Lys-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 against MDA-MB-231 cells increased the cytotoxicity as a result of the targeting and controlled delivery of the DOX to the cancer cells. The in vitro antioxidant activity and hemolysis experiments revealed that the designed Lys-MOF Cu@GO/HAp-SiO2-Fe3O4 have excellent antioxidant activity and good haemocompatibility, respectively, as a suitable nanocomposites for drug applications. Therefore, it is suggested that the prepared nanocomposites can be good for biological applications.

Fenton chemistry activation in metal-organic frameworks for synergistic bacteria eradication

The development of novel antibacterial strategies as alternatives to antibiotics is of great significance but remains considerable challenges due to the lack of safe, effective, and broad-spectrum agents. Here, we explored the potential of a biocompatible metal–organic framework Fe-MIL-53-NH2 (FM) for reactive oxygen species (ROS)-based antibacterial applications. However, FM was found to be catalytically inert due to the very weak reducibility of Fe3+ toward H2O2. To address this challenge, we incorporated a small amount of Co2+ (0.98 %) into FM (CFM), successfully activating Fenton chemistry and achieving a notable 5.5-fold improvement in Fenton activity. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that a very small amount of Co2+ doping significantly reduces the energy barrier of the Fenton reaction by shifting the d-band center to the Fermi level and optimizing the charge density of active Co atoms. We further enhanced the antibacterial properties of CFM by modifying it with the photothermal agent polydopamine (PDA), resulting in CFMP. Through the synergistic effects of ROS and photothermal properties, CFMP exhibited remarkable antibacterial activity, with bacterial eradication rates exceeding 99 % against both E. coli and S. aureus. Moreover, in vivo experiments demonstrated the exceptional efficacy of CFMP in sterilizing S. aureus-infected wounds, while causing negligible damage to other major organs. This study not only highlights the role of atom engineering in activating Fenton reaction, but also provides rational designs for a synergistic antibacterial strategy via powerful MOFs chemistry.

Transformation of Metal-Organic Framework from Kinetic to Thermodynamic Product for Controlled Delivery of Vitamin C.

A biocompatible metal-organic framework (MOF), named HSTC-4, constructed using the flexible 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid) (OBA), was developed to enable efficient loading and controlled release of vitamin C (VC) through a combination of strategies involving ligand length, structure design, and metal selection. The kinetic product HSTC-4 demonstrates a propensity for transforming into the thermodynamically stable HSTC-5 under external stimuli, such as photoillumination and vacuum heating, as witnessed by single-crystal to single-crystal transformation. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the VC guest molecules exhibit stronger binding affinity with HSTC-5 due to its narrower pores compared to HSTC-4, resulting in a slower release of VC from VC@HSTC-5. Furthermore, precise control over VC release can be achieved by introducing surface modifications involving SiO2 onto the structure of VC@HSCT-5, while simultaneously adjusting environmental factors such as pH and temperature conditions. Preliminary cell culture experiments and cytotoxicity assays highlight the biocompatibility of HSTC-5, suggesting that it is a promising platform for sustained drug delivery and diverse biomedical applications.

Functionalization of β-cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks with gelatin and glutamine for drug delivery of curcumin to cancerous cells

Beta-cyclodextrin Metal-Organic Framework (β-CD-MOF) is a unique class of porous materials that merges the inherent properties of cyclodextrins with the structural advantages of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). When combined with the concept of MOFs, which are crystalline structures composed of metal ions or clusters linked by organic ligands, the resulting β-CD-MOF holds immense potential for various applications, especially in the field of drug delivery. In this study, biocompatible metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) synthesized using β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) and potassium enabled drug delivery of curcumin (CCM) to cancerous cells. Functionalizing β-CD-MOF with l-glutamine (glutamine-β-CD-MOF) enhanced cancer cell-specific targeting due to glutamine's essential role in cancer cell proliferation and energy pathways. Amino group functionalization provided further functionalization opportunities. Gelatin coating (gelatin@β-CD-MOF) facilitated controlled drug release in an acidic medium. High drug loading capacities (52.38–55.63 %) were achieved for β-CD-MOF@CCM and glutamine-β-CD-MOF@CCM, leveraging the high porosity and affinity of amine and phenol groups of curcumin. The MTT assay highlighted the specificity and differentiation of glutamine-β-CD-MOF in targeting cancerous over normal cells. These functionalized β-CD MOFs efficiently encapsulate curcumin, ensuring controlled drug release and enhanced therapeutic efficacy, particularly in cancer therapy.

Biocompatible metal-organic frameworks as promising platforms to eradicate HIV reservoirs ex vivo in people living with HIV.

The HIV attacks the immune system provoking an infection that is considered a global health challenge. Despite antiretroviral treatments being effective in reducing the plasma viral load in the blood to undetectable levels in people living with HIV (PLWH), the disease is not cured and has become chronic. This happens because of the existence of anatomical and cellular viral reservoirs, mainly located in the lymph nodes and gastrointestinal tract, which are composed of infected CD4+ T cells with a resting memory phenotype and inaccessible to antiretroviral therapy. Herein, a new therapeutic strategy based on nanotechnology is presented. Different combinations of antiretroviral drugs (bictegravir/tenofovir/emtricitabine and nevirapine/tenofovir/emtricitabine) and toll-like receptor agonists were encapsulated into metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) PCN-224 and ZIF-8. The encapsulation efficiencies of all the drugs, as well as their release rate from the carriers, were measured. In vitro studies about the cell viability, the hemocompatibility, and the platelet aggregation of the MOFs were carried out. Epifluorescence microscopy assays confirmed the ability of ZIF-8 to target a carboxyfluorescein probe inside HeLa cell lines and PBMCs. These results pave the way for the use of these structures to eliminate latent HIV reservoirs from anatomical compartments through the activation of innate immune cells, and a higher efficacy of the triplet combinations of antiretroviral drugs.

Novel amino-acid based metal–organic frameworks (Bio-MOFs) as hemostatic agents: Unveiling promising frontiers in hemostasis

Haemorrhage remains a significant challenge in many medical emergencies. The coagulation cascade involves a complex series of reactions in the body to form blood clots, preventing excessive bleeding. Adequate and rapid hemostasis is critical to avoid excessive blood loss and improve patient outcomes. Various hemostatic agents are used in clinics which are known to enhance the innate hemostatic capability of the body, however, the effort to find better agents continues. The main component of the coagulation cascade involves the participation of certain metals (Ca2+, Mg2+, Zn2+) and amino acids (Glycine, Lysine and L-glutamic acid), which play a significant role in tightly controlling it. In this hypothesis, we propose to prepare amino acid-based bio-compatible metal–organic frameworks (AA-Bio-MOFs) where we intend to combine the endogenous amino acid as organic linkers and the biocompatible metal as nodes creating a well-defined structure. We expect these BioMOFs to be better haemostatic agents than traditional haemostatic materials due to their synergistic effect on the coagulation cascade and the significant reduction in their toxicity. Therefore, integrating amino acids and metal ions within a bio-compatible metal–organic framework (BioMOFs) could potentially add a new paradigm to the field of hemostasis.

Self-assembly immobilization of a universal catalytic microreactor for glycosyltransferases

Hyaluronic acid (HA) and chondroitin sulfate (CS) are polydisperse glycosaminoglycans (GAGs),which have important applications as health care products and drugs in skin beauty and arthritis prevention. Enzymatic synthesis is a significant strategy to obtain oligosaccharides and polysaccharides with uniform chain length and well-defined structure. However, the limitations of glycosyltransferase, such as low expression, poor stability, and difficulty in reuse, greatly restrict its application in large-scale commercial production. In this study, we constructed the expression system for hyaluronic acid synthase PmHAS and chondroitin synthase KfoC to obtain the enzyme with high expression level and good water solubility. Subsequently, we screened and optimized several highly biocompatible metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to immobilize two glycosyltransferases efficiently. The resulting enzyme@MOF composite can catalyze the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin oligosaccharides/polysaccharides in quantitative yield. Meanwhile, the supramolecular interactions between enzyme and hydrophilic MOFs confer satisfactory stability, durability, and reusability on immobilized PmHAS and KfoC.

Biocompatible Drug Delivery System Based on a MOF Platform for a Sustained and Controlled Release of the Poorly Soluble Drug Norfloxacin.

Norfloxacin (NFX), an important antibacterial fluoroquinolone, is a class IV drug according to the biopharmaceutics classification system (BCS) and has low solubility and permeability issues. Such poor physicochemical properties of drug molecules lead to poor delivery and are of serious concern to the pharmaceutical industry for clinical development. We present here a conceptually new approach to deliver NFX, by loading the drug molecule on the porous platform of a biocompatible metal-organic framework (MOF), MIL-100(Fe). The loading of the drug on the MOF leading to NFX@MIL-100(Fe) was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), UV-visible spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analyses (TGA), and nitrogen adsorption studies. Controlled experiments resulted in the high loading of the drug molecule (∼20 wt %) along with the desired sustained release. We could further control the release of norfloxacin by coating drug-loaded MIL-100(Fe) with PEG, PEG{NFX@MIL-100(Fe)}. Both drug delivery systems (DDSs), NFX@MIL-100(Fe) and PEG{NFX@MIL-100(Fe)}, were tested for their biocompatibility through toxicity studies. The DDSs are biocompatible and show insignificant cytotoxicity, as revealed by cell viability studies through the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.

Folic acid-conjugated curcumin-loaded bioMOF-101 for breast cancer therapy

Breast cancer ranks as the primary cause of cancer-related mortality among women and stands as the fifth leading cause of cancer death overall. Biocompatible metal-organic frameworks (bioMOFs) emerge as highly attractive and promising platforms for efficient drug absorption and delivery. Thus, our objective was to develop drug delivery systems using bioMOF-101 materials, incorporating curcumin (CCM). The materials were enhanced by coating with folate molecules, facilitating targeted delivery to the tumor region. BioMOF-101 was meticulously synthesized, characterized using various techniques, and subsequently subjected to drug encapsulation tests. Remarkably, CCM@bioMOF-101-1D achieved an impressive encapsulation efficiency of 99.42%. To evaluate the impact of the MOF on cell viability, both breast tumor and normal cell lines were examined, revealing that the materials exhibited no toxicity. In vivo studies, bio-MOFs did not induce a reduction in the tumor region; however, the CCM@bioMOF-101-1D/FA caused a reduction in alveolar volume, which is indicative of its effectiveness in the model employed. In conclusion, the matrices studied herein can be considered promising alternatives for the treatment of breast cancer.

Drug Delivery on Mg-MOF-74: The Effect of Drug Solubility on Pharmacokinetics.

Biocompatible metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as potential nanocarriers for drug delivery applications owing to their tunable physiochemical properties. Specifically, Mg-MOF-74 with soluble metal centers has been shown to promote rapid pharmacokinetics for some drugs. In this work, we studied how the solubility of drug impacts the pharmacokinetic release rate and delivery efficiency by impregnating various amounts of ibuprofen, 5-fluorouracil, and curcumin onto Mg-MOF-74. The characterization of the drug-loaded samples via X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 physisorption, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) confirmed the successful encapsulation of 30, 50, and 80 wt % of the three drugs within the MOF structure. Assessment of the drug delivery performances of the MOF under its various loadings via HPLC tests revealed that the release rate is a direct function of drug solubility and molecular size. Of the three drugs considered under fixed loading condition, the 5-fluorouracil-loaded MOF samples exhibited the highest release rate constants which was attributed to the highest degree of solubility and smallest molecular size of 5-fluorouracil relative to ibuprofen and curcumin. It was also noted that the release kinetics decreases with drug loading, due to a pharmacokinetic shift in release mechanism from singular to binary modes of compound diffusion. The findings of this study highlight the effects of drug's physical and chemical properties on the pharmacokinetic rates from MOF nanocarriers.

MIL-100(Fe)-Based Composite Films for Food Packaging.

A biocompatible metal-organic framework MIL-100(Fe) loaded with the active compounds of tea tree essential oil was used to produce composite films based on κ-carrageenan and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose with the uniform distribution of the particles of this filler. The composite films featured great UV-blocking properties, good water vapor permeability, and modest antibacterial activity against both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The use of metal-organic frameworks as containers of hydrophobic molecules of natural active compounds makes the composites made from naturally occurring hydrocolloids attractive materials for active packaging of food products.

A New Biocompatible Metal-Organic Framework Prepared by Green Chemistry Methods

A new biocompatible metal-organic framework [Mg(Mal)(H2O)](H2O) (H2Mal = malic acid) (I) was synthesized under solvothermal conditions, isolated in a pure state, and characterized by elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction. Compound I, which is the second example of a magnesium metal-organic framework based on malic acid, was prepared under drastic conditions of solvothermal synthesis. Cysteine or products of its decomposition were found to have a template effect on the formation of malic acid-based metal-organic frameworks under the chosen drastic conditions.

Heterostructures Combining Upconversion Nanoparticles and Metal–Organic Framework: Fundamental, Classification, and Theranostic Applications

AbstractIntegrating biocompatible metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), capable of converting near‐infrared (NIR) light into visible or ultraviolet emissions, affords unique UCNPs@MOFs heterostructures for nanomedicine. Alongside inherited advantages from parent UCNPs on imaging and parent MOFs with porous structure on chemodrugs delivery, upconversion Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) from UCNPs to molecular moieties in MOFs offers unique abilities to probe or modulate intracellular and tumor microenvironments at high spatiotemporal precision. As a result, UCNPs@MOFs heterostructures allow to detect hint number of biomolecules, regulate intracellular ion concentrations for tumor cell killing and lamellipodia‐induced cell metastasis, on‐demand release NO gas molecules for antibacterial therapy and neurotherapy, and perform tumor microenvironment‐responsive multimodal therapy, all achieved possible using tissue‐penetrating NIR light stimulation of low photon flux. In this work, recent progress on the construction and applications of UCNPs@MOFs heterostructures toward these regards is surveyed. An emphasis is placed on the classification of heterostructures (Janus, core@satellite, core@shell) with distinct geometric shapes as well as the fundamental upconversion FRET mechanism underpinning all their theranostic applications. Cutting‐edge applications on combined therapies, drug delivery, multimodal imaging, and biosensing are also highlighted, along with provided perspectives on the future development.

Room-temperature rapid self-assembled biocompatible MOFs as an Instant, temporary tooth sealant

Tooth discoloration is a commonly occurring phenomenon, due to adsorption of coloring substances inside the pores of tooth enamel. In this research, we developed a Room-Temperature Rapid Self-assembly method for Biocompatible Metal-Organic Framework(MOF) sealants. We experimented using combinations between two metal acetates(Zn, Mn) and three types of ligands commonly known to be unharmful to humans(L-(+)-Tartaric acid, l -Glutamic acid, l -Aspartic acid), resulting in development of crystalline materials between Zn-Tartaric acid and Mn-Tartaric acid. The products were characterized by X-ray Diffraction(XRD), Infrared Analysis(IR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA), confirming the formation of MOFs. We also conducted a biocompatibility test using neural stem cells for the MOFs and its reactants, concluding that Zn-Tartrate could be safely used at 7.5 µg/mL concentration, preserving approximately 95 % cell viability. Then, we confirmed the availability of tooth coating of both MOFs using primary human teeth, and experimented the prevention of tooth discoloration by immersing the coated teeth in beverage that contain coloring substances; Cola, Red Wine, Coffee. Finally, we measured the amount of metal element remaining on the surface of the tooth after brushing by Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy(EDS), concluding that Zn-Tartrate is the optimal MOF for temporary tooth sealants. Furthermore, we opened a new possibility for rapid synthesis of biocompatible coating, and the mass production of biocompatible MOFs that can be utilized in the biomedical field.

Fabrication of Functional bioMOF-100 Prototype as Drug Delivery System for Breast Cancer Therapy.

Breast cancer is the most frequent cause of cancer death in women, representing the fifth leading cause of cancer death overall. Therefore, the growing search for the development of new treatments for breast cancer has been developed lately as well as drug delivery systems such as biocompatible metal-organic Frameworks (bio-MOFs). These may be promising and attractive for drug incorporation and release. The present study aims to develop a drug carrier system RCA (bioMOF-100 submitted to the activation process) containing incorporated curcumin (CCM), whose material surface is coated with folic acid molecules (FA) to promote the targeting of drug carrier systems to the tumor region. They were synthesized and characterized using several characterization techniques. The materials were submitted to drug encapsulation tests, whose encapsulation efficiency was 32.80% for CCM@RCA-1D. Using the 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy technique, it was possible to verify the appearance of signals referring to folic acid, suggesting success in the functionalization of these matrices. In vitro tests such as cell viability and type of cell death were evaluated in both series of compounds (CCM@RCA-1D, CCM@RCA-1D/FA) in breast tumor lines. The results revealed low toxicity of the materials and cell death by late apoptosis. Thus, these results indicate that the matrices studied can be promising carriers in the treatment of breast cancer.
