Effect of Ksheerbasti and Uttara Basti on Endometrial Fibrosis Induced Infertility (Kshetra Dushti Janya Vandhyatva) - A Case Report

Infertility is a disease of male or female, defined by the failure to achieve a pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Fibrous scaring of the uterine cavity not only decreases fertility (via impairing embryo implantation) but is also associated with an increased risk of miscarriage and other obstetric conditions. Here is a case study of a 30-years-old female patient residing in Jaipur who consulted in OPD of the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) Jaipur on 30-9-23 with the chief complaint of being unable to conceive since 5 years. Her diagnostic Laproscopy & Hysteroscopic findings were suggestive of multiple subserosal fibroid & fibrosed endometrium. Patient was treated with Ayurvedic regime for 5 cycle considered as a Kshetra Dusthi Janya Vandhyatva. The patient missed her period on 8-03-24 and did her urine pregnancy test on 19-3-24, which was found to be positive. From this case study, it is concluded that Ayurvedic intervention are effective in treating infertility due to Endometrial Fibrosis (Kshetra Dushti Janya Vandhyatva).

Management of Diabetic Foot Ulcer - A Case Report

Due to sedentary lifestyle of today, diabetes mellitus is becoming a common illness. One of the complications of diabetes mellitus, the primary cause of lower limb amputations, is diabetic foot ulcers. It affects 15% of all diabetes mellitus patients and occurs before lower limb amputation in 84% of people with diabetic foot ulcers. Controlling blood sugar levels, debridement, improved dressings, and offloading techniques are all necessary for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Acharya Sushruta has listed sixty different forms of treatment in the Ayurvedic literature. He has placed particular emphasis on Vranashodhana and Ropana. Blood sugar management with Arogyavardhini Vati, wound debridement and appropriate wound care are all part of the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. It took a month for the ulcer to fully heal, and throughout that time, the patient's ability to carry out daily tasks improved. The Ayurvedic treatment that was implemented has shown encouraging outcomes in the management of diabetic foot ulcer. It is imperative to conduct more randomised controlled trials in this area of study.

Management of Dustavrana by Chedana Karma and application of Madhu - A Case Study

Dusta Vrana management is most complicated problem encountered by medical practitioner all over the globe, that is non-healing, rapidly growing, disturb the day to day activities of patients, without early and optimal intervention it may ends with amputation of affected limb to save the life, This study reveals that Chedan (debridement) of necrotic patches followed by application of Madhu gives tremendous result in healing of ulcers, As per Sushruta Samhita, Lakshana of Dusta Vrana are Dourganda, Putisrava, Twak Mamsadi Kotha etc., In this case we had Lakshanas like Twak Kotha, Dourganda, Atiputisrava, Kandu etc. In Sushruta Samhita, Chikitsa Sthana 1st chapter Sushruta describes Shasti Upakrama for Vrana Chedana and Madhu Lepana is one among them. Chedana is mainly indicated for Dustavrana, Kotha etc., Honey has properties like Vrana Shodana, Vrana Ropana, Vvrana Sandhaniya. A 45 year male patient with wound over lateral aspect of thigh, knee joint and over lateral aspect of tibia associated with pain, itching fever since 1 week. Patient also had a history of admission in allopathic hospital under diagnosis of cellulitis, where in fasciotomy / fasciectomy was done. As the patient didn’t get relief so he approached our hospitals Shalya Tantra OPD. Patient had no comorbidity like diabetic mellitus, hypertension and patient was treated with Chedana Karma and application of Madhu along with Shamana Aushadi which has been discussed here.

Ayurvedic management of Autism - A Case Report

Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine in India, offers a holistic approach to health and wellness. When applied to Autism, Ayurveda emphasizes individualized treatment plans that balance the body's Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) through diet, herbal remedies, lifestyle modifications, and therapies like Panchakarma. This approach aims to address both physical and mental imbalances, which are believed to contribute to Autism spectrum disorders (ASD). In this article, presentation of an interesting case of autism, not responding to the conventional protocol in modern medicine, managed with Ayurvedic treatment. Pathya and Apathya in Bhagandara: Holistic Approaches to Fistula-in-Ano

Bhagandara, commonly known as fistula in ano, is a prevalent anorectal condition extensively described in classical Ayurvedic texts. Classified under Ashtamahagada by Acharya Sushruta, it initially appears as a pidika near the anus and transforms into Bhagandara upon rupture. Ayurvedic approach to managing Joint Disorders: Case Studies

Around the world, Bone and Joint-related disorders are common and can be extremely painful and impairing. Due to long-term disability and the high expense of surgical procedures, these conditions not only harm people's quality of life but also place a significant financial burden on them. Commonly Joint diseases like Sandhivata, Aamvata and Vatarakta have been mentioned in most classic Ayurvedic texts from ancient times. Another group of disorders known as Vatavyadhi assembles neuro-musculoskeletal conditions with varying etiopathogenesis. An Ayurveda approach for managing Geriatric Sleep Disturbances: A Comprehensive Review

Background: Ageing is defined as the progressive deterioration in structure and function of the body organs. In Ayurveda literature ageing (Jara) has been given importance since Vedic period as the natural, progressive phenomenon. In Ayurveda, Sleep (Nidra) is one of the Upasthambha (Sub-Pillar) which is essential for overall health. Ageing causes multiple changes in sleep patterns, and various diseases can further disrupt sleep. Ayurveda describes the physiological increase of Vata Dosha in old age which causes Vata Prakopa in body leading to degeneration of Dhatu (Dhatukshaya) which alter the sleep patterns. Aim: The paper aims to review common sleep disturbances seen in ageing and their prevention and management through Ayurveda. The study discusses various patterns of sleep during ageing and their possible management through Ayurveda. Primary sleep disorders common in the geriatric population such as; insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, circadian rhythm sleep-wake disorder was discussed and their management through Ayurveda was reviewed. The selection of Ayurvedic treatment and procedures which nourishes Dhatu and pacify Vata Dosha are effective in managing sleep disturbances. Result: The study finds that Vatashamak Chikitsa, regulation of Agni, Dincharya, Ritucharya, Vegdharan, use of Rasayana, Panchakarma, Yogasana are beneficial for the management of sleep disturbances. Conclusion: Sleep disturbances are common in ageing and can be managed efficiently through Ayurveda.

Panchakarma in Parinaama Shoola - A Review Article

Parinama Shoola is a chronic, recurrent, and non-fatal gastrointestinal (GIT) condition, accounting for 25% of patient visits to clinics and hospitals in India.[1] In Ayurveda, Madhavakara was the first to describe Parinama Shoola, characterizing it as pain during digestion, and categorizing it as a Vata-Pradhana Tridoshaja Vyadhi.[2] Samprapti: The development of Shoola begins with the consumption of incompatible foods (Viruddhahara), such as hot and spicy rich fatty diets, junk foods, and habits like tobacco chewing, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Physical inactivity and mental stress further exacerbate the condition, leading to digestive impairment (Agnimandya) and the formation of toxins (Ama). This sequence of events progresses through stages of: Ajeerna (indigestion), Amlapitta (hyperacidity), finally culminating into Shoola (pain).[3] The causes, progression, and symptoms of Parinama Shoola are remarkably similar to those of duodenal ulcers in modern medical science. Management of duodenal ulcers typically involves: Educating the patient, Avoiding known causative factors, Prescribing bland diets, Using antacids and acid-blocking medications, Administering antibiotics for H. pylori infection. Despite these treatments, high recurrence rates and unwanted side effects are common. In Ayurvedic treatment for Parinama Shoola includes: Samshodhana (purification), Samshamana (pacification), Nidana Parivarjana (avoidance of causative factors), Pathya-Apathya (dietary and lifestyle modifications) and Prevention of recurrences. Ayurvedic medicines are noted for being cost-effective, easily available, and safe for long-term use.

Holistic approach to treating Vipadika (Palmoplantar Psoriasis) with Ayurvedic Therapies: A Case Report

In Ayurveda all skin disease has been considered under the headings of Kushta. Vipadika is one among such disease which has been included under the heading of Kshudra Kushta. It is characterized by Panipada Sphutanam (fissures), Teevravedana (severe pain) either in palms or soles or in both.[1] Its symptoms can be correlated with palmar-plantar psoriasis which is a chronic skin disease which mainly affects palms and sole region and is characterized by hyperkeratosis, fissures, erythema and occasionally inflammation and pustules. In present, case report a patient with complaint of dryness and cracking of both palms associated with burning and pain in the past 2-3 years, was successfully treated with Shodana (Virechana) and Shamana Aushadhi’s like Manjishthaadi Kashya, Kaishore Gugullu and Jatyadighrit externally for a period of one month. This is an effort to show the brighter side of Ayurvedic treatment not just in alleviating the symptoms but also in improving the immune strength and causing no recurrence of disease. Shodhana helps remove the root cause of the disease, and prevent from recurrence.

Comprehensive Analysis of Allerkhand Tablet: A Novel Ayurvedic Herbal Formulation helps to regulates the Allergic Conditions

The increasing interest in alternative and complementary therapies has spotlighted Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine, for its holistic approach in managing allergies. Ayurvedic treatments for allergy typically focus on restoring balance of the Vitiated Doshas. This may involve dietary corrections, lifestyle changes, and the use of herbal remedies and rejuvenation therapies. Curcumin, the active component of turmeric, has been extensively studied for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immunomodulatory properties, which can be beneficial in managing allergic conditions. The current study was conducted for a scientific evaluation of Allerkhand tablet, an Ayurvedic patent medicine used to treat allergy and boost immunity. Allerkhand, a poly-herbal tablet formulation with Curcuma longa as the main ingredient and 18 other constituents, serves to improve immunity by combining anti-allergic and anti-histaminic effects. The product was subjected to qualitative phytochemical HPTLC, HPLC, and anti-microbial studies. Phytochemical analysis of Allerkhand in aqueous and methanolic extracts revealed the presence of 13 and 8 common compounds, respectively. According to HPTLC and HPLC analysis, sufficient quantity of curcuminoids are present in tablets. Significant antimicrobial zones were found against six bacterial strains. These findings support the traditional use of Allerkhand tablets as a natural remedy in regulating allergic conditions.

Efficacy of Panchakarma therapy and lifestyle modification in essential hypertensive patients to reduce anti-hypertensive dependency

Background: Anti-hypertensive drugs are associated with a plethora of adverse reactions which can lead to poor treatment adherence, increased morbidity and mortality rates, and significant economic burden. The blood pressure management program (BPMP) is an Ayurvedic treatment strategy that combines Panchakarma with diet management. Thus, the current study sought to assess the efficacy of the BPMP in essential hypertensive patients to reduce anti-hypertension dependency. Methods: A retrospective, observational, single-centre study was conducted between December 2018 and September 2023 in Maharashtra, India. Patients aged 30-75 years diagnosed with primary/essential hypertension regardless of gender participated in the BPMP and were included in the study. Follow-up was conducted after 90 days. Day 1 and day 90 data were compared. Results: A total of 59 patients were assessed. Daytime ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) systolic blood pressure decreased (day 1: 123.71±11.83 mmHg and day 90: 123.12±12.36 mmHg), night-time ABPM systolic blood pressure decreased (day 1: 114.76±13.41 mmHg and day 90: 114.31±14.40 mmHg), daytime ABPM diastolic blood pressure decreased (day 1: 77.03±8.28 mmHg and day 90: 76.31±9.45 mmHg, and night-time ABPM diastolic blood pressure decreased (day 1: 69.53±8.32 mmHg and day 90: 68.42±8.85 mmHg). Nocturnal dipping decreased (day 1: 7.08±8.19 and day 90: 6.08±8.99). Dependency on allopathic medication also decreased. Conclusions: The Ayurveda-based BPMP effectively reduces blood pressure and dependency of allopathic medication. It also improves quality of life of patients diagnosed with primary/essential hypertension.

Systematic Review on Current Managements of Irritable Bowel Syndrome by Complementary and Alternative Medicine

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects people worldwide. It causes physical and emotional anguish, typically alongside psychiatric illnesses. When conventional methods of treating irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) fail, patients may go to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for relief. The quality of the evidence is uneven, but complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) shows promise. A systematic review evaluates CAM efficacy, safety, and mechanisms for IBS treatment to identify gaps and guide future research. This systematic review evaluates and synthesises CAM’s efficacy and use in irritable bowel syndrome treatment. This systematic review (1998-2023) included 15 studies from diverse sources, utilizing keywords related to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Qualitative data methods extracted insights into Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) interventions for IBS. The evaluation covered main findings, clinical features, outcomes, adverse effects, and follow-up periods. PRISMA-guided data extraction, including a flowchart, ensured a systematic approach. Inclusion criteria comprised various study types, while exclusion criteria targeted inconsistent data and low-quality studies. This study examines numerous controlled, randomised, and multicenter studies on IBS therapies, including Ayurvedic formulations, conventional nutrition, and CAM techniques. Participants, study locations, and interventions vary in the global study. Results from various studies on IBS therapeutic efficacy, risk factors, and patient preferences are shown. Studies on Ayurvedic, homoeopathic, and CAM treatments provide a complete overview of IBS care. The study found that Ayurvedic and CAM treatments for IBS are helpful, but mainstream medications are risky. To improve efficacy, tailored, culturally relevant programmes need research and standardisation.

Impact of ayurvedic panchakarma therapy on osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is the leading cause of chronic pain and disability in adults, imparting a substantial economic burden on both society and individuals. This case series explored the impact of Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy on knee osteoarthritis. Data from procedures conducted between March 2022 and January 2024 at a clinic in Maharashtra, India was collected. Patients of either gender who were clinically diagnosed with osteoarthritis grade 2 and underwent Knee Rejuvenation Therapy were included in this analysis. Follow-up was conducted after 1 month and at 90 days. Baseline data was compared with follow-up data. A total of 16 patients with mean age of 57.63 ± 10.20 years were included in the study. The Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) score (day 1: 20.31±11.18, after 1 month: 49.94±10.85, day 90: 71.31±5.89, p=0.00), pain (day 1: 25.44±14.03, after 1 month: 57.81±10.66, day 90: 80.63±5.78, p=0.00), symptoms (day 1: 30.69±14.59, after 1 month: 55.75±12.94, day 90: 83.00±6.04, p=0.00), sports (day 1: 2.81±6.84, after 1 month: 25.31±15.05, day 90: 39.69±15.76, p=0.00), function (day 1: 31.25±16.69, after 1 month: 58.94±12.34, day 90: 78.81±7.98, p=0.00), and quality of life (day 1: 14.13±14.83, after 1 month: 52.00±10.78, after 1 month: 73.50±4.50, p=0.00) increased from baseline to the 90-day follow-up. Ayurvedic treatment is effective in improving the KOOS score and reducing the severity of arthritis in diagnosed osteoarthritis patients.

Effects of Raupya Suvarna Sutashekhara, a herbo-mineral-metallic formulation as adjunct Oral Ayurvedic Medicine on long-term survival in patients of malignant brain tumor

BackgroundThe incidence of brain tumors poses a significant threat, particularly with high-grade tumors that exhibit rapid growth and can significantly impair the patient's quality of life, despite treatment modalities. Ayurveda, a natural system of medicines helps to enhance health benefits when used as a complementary therapy in combination with conventional treatment through various herbal, herbo-mineral or herbo-mineral-metallic formulations. One of such formulations, Raupya Suvarna Sutshekhara (RSS), has Raupya bhasma and Suvarna bhasma (incinerated Silver and Gold respectively) ingredients and they are described as Rasayana (immunomodulatory) and possess Medhya (enhances the brain functions and intelligence) activity. ObjectiveThe study documents effects of Raupya Suvarna Sutshekhara in alleviating symptoms of malignant brain tumors. Materials and methodsThis retrospective cohort study was done for malignant brain tumor patients (n = 110) registered at our centre who were treated with Raupya Suvarna Sutshekhara 125 mg–250 mg (a herbo-mineral metallic formulation) as a treatment of choice of neural tonic along with supporting Ayurvedic medicines. Treatment response evaluation period ranged from 3 months to 5 years (median period 29 weeks). Clinical symptoms, weight, Karnofsky Performance Score (KPS), Quality of Life (QoL) score, and survival data with respect to treatment with RSS were analyzed. ResultsRSS showed a very significant (p < 0.001) effect on symptoms related to memory loss, headache, imbalance, loss of appetite, and generalized weakness while significant (p < 0.05) decrease in urinary incontinence, seizures, difficulty in thinking/articulating, and weakness in one part/side of the body. However, a not-quite significant change was seen in symptom confusion/disorientation. No significant improvement was seen in vision changes, facial numbness or tingling, swallowing difficulties, and tingling in extremities. Body weight and KPS also showed improvement. Patients with treatment between 2 and 5 years showed median survival up to 62 months. ConclusionsIt was observed that adjunct Ayurvedic treatment with RSS helped to reduce the severity of symptoms due to the tumor itself or side-effects of conventional treatments, maintain the quality of life of malignant brain tumor patients and has shown to increase survival with respect to the duration of the treatment.

Successful Outcome of Secondary Infertility with Multidrug Therapy in a Long-Standing Case of multisystem involvement

A case of secondary infertility with multisystem involvement is being presented herewith. Secondary infertility indicates previous pregnancy but failure to conceive subsequently. Numbers of secondary infertility are growing day by day. Many factors like age, unwholesome lifestyle, disturbed schedule, diet, stress is accountable for it. Due to involvement of these all factors sometimes a female may expose to multiple metabolic disorders resulting into infertility. Aim: To study the outcome of Ayurvedic treatment in management of secondary infertility. Objective: To access the role of Ayurvedic management in secondary infertility. Methodology: It is a single case study of secondary infertility due to multiple metabolic disorders. Case description: A female aged 31years, had pain during menstruation and regular cycles with history of left tube removal due to ectopic pregnancy visited for wants to conceive. She had history of treatment at various private centers and had multisystem metabolic disorders. She was advised Ayurvedic oral medications along with yogabasti. Outcome: After Ayurveda interventions she conceived. Conclusion: Ayurvedic management by improving the health and reproductive ability of a woman may help to conceive. A RANDOMIZED, OPEN LABELLED, CONTROLLED EQUIVALENCE PILOT DRUG TRIAL TO EVALUATE EFFECT OF POLYHERBAL FORMULATIONS, EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF MODIFIED PANCHAKARMA TREATMENT PLAN OBETOX IN PATIENTS WITH OBESITY (MEDOROG).

A chronic complex diseases with excessive fat deposition is called as Obesity. It an lead to many metabolic disease like Type II diabetes, heart diseases, thyroid, hypertension, increased bloos cholesterol level, liver disease, sleep apnoea and certain cancers. It can lead to increase the risk of co morbid conditions specially heart diseases. Weight loss can improve or prevent many health issues related to Obesity. Ayurveda says that Obesity is Vikrita Vriddhi (Abnormal increase) of Medodhatu (Fatty Tissue).Aims and Objective- This study was planned to evaluate the efficacy of Ayurvedic treatment Tab Mednil, Tab Suhruday &amp; Obetox Treatment Plan in the treatment of Obesity (Medorog) and to assess the change in various biochemical markers.Method- This is a proof-of-concept study in which a sample size of 60 participants (30 in each group) was considered sufficient to achieve the study objectives. Participants were randomly assigned to two groups according to a computer-generated randomization list.Results- The results show that participants observed a lighter body image, more energy and enthusiasm, and a reduction in obesity-related complications, in terms of weight, H/W ratio, BMI and lipid profile.Conclusion- Obetox protocol along with herbal remedies gives significant results in the Obesity.

Management of Shukrakshaya (Oligospermia) by implementing traditional Ayurveda treatment: A case report

Oligozoospermia (Low sperm count) is one of the most common causes of male infertility today, which is easily diagnosed via semen analysis, keeping in mind the semen qualitative parameters preset by WHO. There is however no clear reason as to why the condition occurs except for the congenital reasons. Heat, smoking, alcohol are certain factors that might affect the sperm count, are being studied. Ayurvedic scriptures explain Shukra Dhatu vitiation by Vata-Pitta-Kapha which leads to Shukra Dosha like Ksheen or Alpa Shukra or Shukrakshaya. The article here presents a case of a 35-year-old healthy male patient with a known case of Oligozoospermia (8 million/mL), infertile for 5 years, who was successfully managed by Ayurvedic intervention within a period of about 5 months. Accordingly, his condition was diagnosed as Shukrakshaya in the OPD, and his Ayurvedic intervention was thoroughly planned. The case was managed by initiating Agnidipaka and Aampachaka Chikitsa, followed by using Virechana for Shodhana. Later the patient was taken on Shaman-Vajikarana &amp; Balya Chikitsa for 3 months, where a significant rise in the sperm count variables depicting normal values was observed, discussed further in this article.

A Holistic Review of Therapeutic Potential of Palasha Kshara Sutra in Shalyaja nadivrana vis-a-vis Pilonidal Sinus

Pilonidal sinus (PNS) is characterized by the presence of a sinus tract in the sacrococcygeal region, typically containing hair and debris, which can lead to recurrent infections and abscess formation. Shalyaja Nadivrana is a type of Nadivrana explained in Sushrutha samhitha. Clinically it can be correlated with Pilonidal sinus. Conventional treatments include surgical excision, which may result in prolonged healing and high recurrence rates. Ayurveda offers Kshara Sutra chikitsa. This para surgical technique has shown promising treat conditions like fistula-in-ano and now holds potential in managing pilonidal sinus.Ksharasutra ligation is regarded as the best method in pilonidal sinus as it is safe, effective, economical and simple OPD procedure with recurrence rate of 5.88%. Kharasutra ligation its gradual and sustainable chemical action not only removes the deberis from the site of track but also helps in encouraging new healthy grannulation tissue formationThe present study aims to explore the effect of palasha kshara sutra in the management of shalyaj nadivrana.As Palasha having katu, tikta, Kashaya rasa, katu vipaka, ushna virya, is vatakaphahara, vranahara, krimihara and shothahara properties. Palasha kshara sutra has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-fungal and analgesic properties.

Levels of prevention has been a wide idea concept which includes all the aspects related to health and disease like preventive, curative, promotive and rehabilitative measures. Applicability of this concept in Ayurveda has elaborative understanding in a more simplified manner. Despite leading to both physical and psychological issues, the importance given to skin diseases is always the least. Changing food habits and lifestyle is being the major reason in the current era for increased prevalence of skin diseases especially in young adults. In a way to cope up with fast living culture, people are compromising with their health and well being which needs immediate attention and action. Early diagnosis and complete treatment is the basis of Kushta Chikitsa (treatment of skin diseases) and the same has been highlighted as a secondary preventive measure. One such case is being discussed here which is diagnosed initially and treated as per Ayurveda chikitasa siddhtanta (Ayurvedic treatment principle), considering Dosha (bio-forces of body), Agni(metabolism), Bala (Strength), Ritu (season) etc giving complete relief and self confidence of the patient. This not only prevents the further occurrence of complications due to chronicity but also brings back the faith in Ayurveda treatment modalities. It is high time to make the young minds realize the importance of healthy living, which otherwise can impair the health status of the nation, dragging back its growth and development.
