Awareness and Use of Electronic Resources by the Faculty Members and Research Scholars with Special Reference to Alliance University, Bengaluru, Karnataka: A Study

The purpose of this study is to find out the extent to which electronic resources are utilized among the faculty and research scholars at Alliance University, Bengaluru. Questionnaire method was used to make a survey of use of electronic resources by the faculty members and research scholars. The analysis of the data thus collected covers, purpose of e-resources use, most used type of e-resources, problem faced while accessing the e-resources and satisfaction level of the users. Responses received shows that electronic resources are preferred for searching the scholarly information. Study reveals that majority of the respondents are aware of electronic resources. Majority of the respondents are using e-journals for seeking the information and maximum number of users under study prefer e-resources for their research/project work. It is noteworthy that majority of users under the study reveals that electronic resources have created positive impact on teaching and research.

Awareness of electronic resources with special reference to ugc-infonet program of kumaun university, nainital: A user study of D.S.B. Campus, Nainital

The purpose of this study is to assess the use of e-resources by the Faculty members, Research Scholars and Post Graduate Students in the Central library of Kumaun University Nainital. The focus of the study is an in-depth analysis of the e-resources among the faculty members, researchers and post graduate students and how they use the e-resources along with their preferred choices. Also, the awareness of available e-resources under the UGC-Infonet Digital Library consortium in university library is considered.

Promotion and Use of Electronic Resources in Kalasalingam University Library in Tamil Nadu, India: A Study

The purpose of this paper is to determine the awareness of electronic resources or e-resources among library users and promote the usage of electronic resources available at the Kalasalingam University Library (KLUL). A structured questionnaire was designed for collecting data, the same was administered to 210 randomly selected faculty and students at the Kalasalingam University and 156 completed questionnaires were returned. The study revealed several issues, including inadequate user account, lack of speed in accessing, the lack of knowledge in searching techniques and lack of time. Eighty four respondents (53.84 percent) felt that the publicity of e-resources is essential and they listed the publicity method of creating links to the library Web pages from the institutional homepages in the first rank. As far as purpose of use of e-resources is concerned, majority of them utilize e-resources for their project work and preparing papers for presenting conferences and seminars. This study has widely held view that low awareness and poor skills are among the primary reasons for their under utilization. The paper also provides suggestions derived from the analysis of data which help to enhance the use of eresources services and fulfill the needs and requirements of the faculty and students in Kalalalingam University, Tamil Nadu.

Awareness and use of electronic resources at a university campus in Ghana

This study looks into the use of electronic resources by the faculty members of College of Technology Education, Kumasi of the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. Sixty-two copies of a questionnaire were sent to the entire faculty and 31 were returned which gave a response rate of 50%. The responses showed very low level of faculty awareness of the electronic resources. It was also found out that inadequate training in the use of the electronic resources was a major factor in the non-use of the electronic resources by the faculty. The paper then professes suggestions such as aggressive marketing of the resources and the need to train users to acquire skills to enhance their optimal utilization of the resources.

Readiness or avoidance: e‐resources and the art historian

The paper discusses the impact of electronic resources and digital image databases on the research methodologies of today's art historians.FindingsAlthough art historians depend on using the library for research, many have a rather limited awareness of electronic resources and have not fully developed the skills to utilize then to their fullest potential.Originality/valueThis follows up on Deirdre R. Stam's 1984 study of the information‐seeking behaviors of art historians.
