Realization and Experimental Study of a Forced Convection Solar Dryer

Post-harvest losses represent a significant cause of food insecurity worldwide. These losses not only affect the availability of food, but they also impact the economic stability of farmers and communities dependent on these crops. Food drying presents itself as a viable solution to reduce these post-harvest losses and ensure greater availability of food for human consumption. It is in this context that our work on the creation of an indirect solar dryer with forced convection, integrating an automatic temperature control system, takes place. This study consisted of creating a prototype and subsequently carrying out drying experiments on onions in order to evaluate the performance of the device. Our experiments took place from October 25 to October 29, 2023 at Joseph KI-ZERBO University. After 8 hours of drying, only 12% of the initial mass of the onions remained. The solar thermal collector presented an efficiency of 62%. And a drying efficiency, estimated at 17% with an average sunshine of 600W/m2.

Controlling temperature is crucial because it is the most significant factor in the distillation process. Temperature instability is a result of manual and traditional control, and several errors may occur. Therefore, the low quality of the product that is produced during the distillation process has an additional effect. In order to effectively control or manage the system, an automatic temperature control system is designed using an electronic controller with a closed system control mode that not only delivers setpoint values but also feedback.The procedure of distillation that is being employed involves combining two different kinds of solutions: water and ethanol, which has a boiling point of 78°C.Thermocouple sensors are used to monitor temperature, and PLCs with PID control are used to process the temperature data that are obtained. For plant supervision, control, and data collecting, a SCADA is necessary. A number of tests have been conducted, including near loops with and without PID that are SCADA-monitored. The temperature stability response is then examined by analyzing the outcomes of multiple tests that have been conducted. Values of Kp = 5188, Ti = 182, and Td = 457 were found by using the Ziegler Nichols method to the temperature control of the distillation equipment. Furthermore, the steady state error was no more than 1% and the overshoot characteristics were only 2.5%, according to the system response graph.. From the Ziegler Nichols PID control parameters, it shows a good system response and produces ethanol distillation results with a concentration of 88%.

Performance of Automatic Temperature Control System in Pyrolysis Reactor of LDPE Plastic Waste

Pyrolysis is a process of decomposing material at high temperatures without or with limited air and is an alternative waste treatment which is considered quite prospective to be developed. Plastic waste treatment as pyrolysis fuel, is strongly influenced by operating conditions, which consist of the thermal properties of plastics such as the LDPE type, which are still massively used in society. This research processes LDPE type plastic waste using technology fixed bed pyrolysis type batch reactor with a capacity of 0.01 m³ with initial heating from external heat of LPG energy source. The pyrolysis process takes in a closed reactor and the mass flow rate of the condensate flows naturally to the condenser for the condensation process to become pyro-oil product. Optimization of the reactor pyrolysis was carried out by adding insulated heat cover to reduce heat losses during the heating process. The addition of automatic temperature control to regulate the heating rate, makes operation control easier and reducing fluctuations in temperature distribution during pyrolysis process. The research was carried out with three operating temperature variations of 250, 275, and 300 °C using 0.8 kg LDPE plastic waste for batch test. The performance of automatic temperature control was observed using a digital thermometer and a comparison of the results before and after installation was carried out at a temperature of 300 °C. The results showed that heating temperature control which was previously done manually gives fluctuating results with a temperature difference of up to 50 °C. With the addition of an automatic temperature control system, the operating temperature during the pyrolysis process shows relatively lower fluctuations with a maximum difference of 20 °C. The initial heating energy consumption from LPG and the fuel consumption rate (FCR) show an increase along with the increase in the pyrolysis operating temperature setting.

Modeling of the removal of combustion products in the pipe of a low-rise building as a control object

The features of the formation and methods of preventing condensation in the chimney of an apartment low-rise building with an individual decentralized heat supply system are considered. A mathematical model of the technological process of removing flue gases from gas boilers in an apartment building through a collective chimney pipe as a multidimensional control object with distributed parameters, which is understood as a set of thermophysical processes occurring during the removal of combustion products. Numerical simulation of a collective chimney pipe is performed on the example of a three-storey apartment building with gas boilers installed in each apartment as a control object. A method of step-by-step experiments is proposed. At the first stage, the dependences of the distribution of the temperature field inside the chimney during non-stationary operation of boilers and changing ambient temperature are obtained. The phenomenon of condensate occurrence has been confirmed experimentally, and the most characteristic areas subject to its occurrence have been identified. During the second stage of research, it was found that it is most effective and economically feasible to prevent the formation of condensate by using a heating cable in the attic and chimney head sections. It is shown that the change of control actions has an effect on the temperature of adjacent sections of the chimney. The revealed non-stationarity is taken into account by inter-channel connections through the object in the block diagram. It is proved that, in relation to solving the problem of removing combustion products from the chimney, an object with distributed parameters can be represented by a model with concentrated parameters, for which the structure is synthesized and proper operators and operators of inter-channel connections are found in the form of transfer functions with variable parameters. The resulting model is problem-oriented to create a two-dimensional automatic temperature control system on the inner surface of the chimney in order to prevent the formation of condensate in the pipe.

Design of monitoring system for controlling the Temperature of chicken coops based on Internet of Things by utilizing Thingspeak

Broiler chickens are cattle whose growth is affected by ambient temperature. Inappropriate chicken cage temperatures can affect productivity and cause death in broiler chicken, so setting the cage temperature should be done. The design of this automatic temperature control system used the ESP32 microcontroller as the primary controller, the DHT22 as the enclosure temperature sensor and the ThingSpeak as remote monitoring. The microcontroller shall order if the measured temperature is above the set temperature limit and shall order the LED to light red, if the measured temperature is below the specified temperature limit to light blue, but due to the limitations of the author's LED material uses yellow. The results of the study showed that this automatic chicken coop temperature setting tool can work well to automatically regulate the chicken coop temperature and that the data on the results of this study would be entered into ThingSpeak and printed on the LCD.

Experimental research on muffle furnace dynamic properties

Purpose. To develop the method and software for building empirical models of muffle furnaces with two heating elements. Methodology. The method for processing experimental data according to the improved algorithm, which is based on the areas method, is used for constructing empirical models of the muffle furnace. Experimental research of the muffle furnace dynamic is conducted using the following methodology. The muffle furnace is cooled to the room temperature and then the lower heater is turned on and temperatures at the furnace output are fixed using the experimental two-channel temperature controller MIC-344. The second cycle of the experimental research began by cooling the furnace to the room temperature with turning on the upper heater. Observations based on the results of the experiment are conducted until the temperature is stabilized at the two outputs of the muffle furnace. Archiving of temperature trends is carried out using the RS485/Ethernet interface and the SmartReview software (a product of private limited company “Microl”). Findings. The developed software can be used for iteratively selection of the optimal empirical model based on the criterion of the root mean square deviation of the calculated and experimental data. The calculating method for the acceleration curve based on the transfer functions coefficients with a variable discreteness step is improved in order to compare the experimental data with the empirical modeling results. Twelve empirical models were tested for four signal transmission channels in the process of experimental research. It has been established that only four of them are stable (have left-hand roots of the characteristic equation). Among the selected sustainable models, the model with the numerator polynomial equaled to two and denominator polynomial equaled to three has been established as the best model (according to the established criterion). A structural diagram is created based on the synthesized empirical model of the muffle furnace, which includes four transfer functions and cross connections. Originality. For the first time, the empirical model of a muffle furnace with two electrical energy sources has been developed, which describes its dynamic properties as the object of automatic control with high accuracy, which enables to reveal the presence of internal cross-connections, that significantly complicate the controlling process of the object. Practical value. The created empirical models with two electric sources (tens) can be used for the synthesis of the high-precision automatic temperature control system of the muffle furnace.

When synthesizing automatic control systems, there is a problem with complex definition of controller parameters, and the main criterion becomes the achievement of stable operation, and the quality of the transient becomes of secondary importance. Such problems may arise in the presence of two or more nested loops in the initial system. The correct synthesis of such systems is possible by using a slave control structure that allows us to replace the inner loop with an equivalent aperiodic link of the first order. By the example of an automatic temperature control system for superheated steam, the principle of building a slave control structure and the synthesis of such a system are shown in the paper.

Automation of temperature control of a heat generator with a fuzzy logic controller

Purpose. Improving the quality of temperature control of a heat generating installation for air heating. Methods. The specificity of the issue under consideration determines the analytical method of research by formulating a mathematical model of the non-stationary thermal regime of the heat generator and calculating the parameters of the temperature controller based on fuzzy logic. Results. Analysis of the thermal effects of a heat generator with a heat exchanger, a physical model is determined and, on its basis, a mathematical model of non-stationary heat transfer in the elements of the heat generator design is formulated. The model is presented in the form of three partial differential equations. An approximate solution of the system of equations and generalized simplifications made it possible to determine the dynamic model by means of first-order aperiodic transfer functions with delay. Based on the identified model coefficients, a fuzzy controller rule base and an automatic temperature control system were created in two versions: with a typical PID controller and a fuzzy temperature controller. The analysis of transient processes of regulation of the automatic temperature control system was carried out. Conclusions. An analysis of the characteristics of the transient process of the automatic temperature control system revealed that the control time of a system with a fuzzy controller is less than in a system with a typical PID controller. Therefore, a fuzzy air temperature control system in a heat generator can be used to automate a significant class of heat generating devices. MODELING THE DYNAMICS OF THERMAL ENERGY ACCUMULATORS AS CONTROL OBJECTS

The article defines the relevance of research on options for using heat accumulators in the heat supply system of industrial premises. Typical technological schemes of liquid heat accumulators are considered and shortcomings of existing mathematical models are determined. The technological scheme of a capacitive type battery is selected and analyzed, as the most common in solar heating and hot water systems. It has been established that for a non-stationary process, the thermal inertia of the body reinforcement and thermal insulation cannot be neglected, therefore, the storage tank cannot be considered as a single-capacity object. Based on the analysis of the heat balance of structural elements of heat storage devices, a mathematical model of the dynamics of the accumulator tank as a two-capacity object with lumped parameters is formulated. The resulting simplified mathematical model makes it possible to identify the simulation object (a capacitive type water accumulator). In the considered embodiment, the heat accumulator is used in hot solar water supply systems for preheating water. For use in dual-circuit systems of solar heating and hot water supply, heliolectors with antifreeze are used, and water is heated in heat storage tanks using heat exchangers. The formulated mathematical model of a tank of a combined accumulator with a heat exchanger when used as a liquid heat carrier - antifreeze (to exclude icing of the system), in which, to simplify the model (reduce the order), the heat capacity of the tubes is related to the heat capacity of the heat carrier in the volume of the tubes, and the mass of the body to the mass of liquid in it . For the development and analysis of an automatic temperature control system, the obtained models are a system of nonlinear equations, the solution of which is advisable to carry out in computer environments.

Study of robust stability of indoor temperature control system

The stages of design and study of the indoor temperature control system have been considered. An assessment of the possibilities of the indoor temperature control of a discrete model of the control system has been carried out. The transfer function of the control object with interval coefficients of the numerator and denominator polynomials taking into account possible ranges of change of the greatest time constant responsible for the enclosing structures has been obtained. The applied graphical method of studying the obtained system has provided an output of the family of root trajectories on a complex plane and visually demonstrated absolute and robust absolute stability of the automatic temperature control system. The simulation carried out in the MATLAB system has confirmed the correctness of the results obtained.

The advanced technology of the Internet and extensive agricultural transformation and upgrading have made the overall agricultural industry chain and modern agriculture better. In view of the high cost and suffering of traditional agricultural planting management, the Internet of Things (I O T) is applied to agriculture to realize real-time detection and intelligent management of crop growth conditions, remote control, and change the traditional agricultural equipment planting mode. The purpose of this article is to design and research the I O T automatic control (A C) system for smart agriculture. This article first introduces the core technology of the I O T through an overview of the basic theories of the I O T. Combined with the current status of agricultural automation in my country, the existing problems and deficiencies are analyzed. On this basis, use the core technology of the I O T to supplement and improve it. This article systematically expounds the overall scheme design, module function design and A C algorithm realization of the I O T brake control system. And use field investigation method, comparative analysis method and other research forms to carry out research on the theme of this article. Experimental research shows that the sampling data of the greenhouse is selected as the sample, the appropriate initial membership function is selected, and the fuzzy control rules obtained through the training of the fuzzy neural network algorithm are relatively correct. The output result of the automatic temperature control system is mostly consistent with the actual data on site. The article deals with the issues of constructive, structural modeling and automatic control of room heating. The dynamics of the object-the heating system of a residential building-is obtained. Dynamic errors are determined by the dynamic characteristics of the temperature sensor. The design scheme of the object is presented. The heating control system contains three temperature controllers. Using structural modeling, various methods of automatic control of the heating system are evaluated. The technical structure of the automatic temperature control system (ACS) in a residential building is implemented by a cascade three-circuit control with two executive elements. Experimental studies of transients in a closed ACS with three types of regulators are presented. The results obtained make it possible to implement adaptive control of the heating system on a real object.

Development of automatic temperature and humidity control system in kumbung (oyster mushroom) using fuzzy logic controller

National mushroom production in 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015 amounted to: 31052, 3702, 40915 and 33485 tons. In 2018 the per capita availability is 0.15, this figure needs to be increased as an alternative food solution, this is based on the texture of mushrooms that resembles meat and is delicious, making this plant often become a variety of processed foods such as chips, rendang, satay, shredded, meatballs and supplement. Mushrooms cultivated in Indonesia have high nutritional value and even mushrooms contain 19-35 percent higher protein than rice (7.38 percent) and wheat (13.2 percent). Cultivation of mushrooms, especially oyster mushrooms, has the potential to be developed more widely in Indonesia because it has economic value and is environmentally friendly. However, oyster mushroom cultivation has challenges, especially to produce maximum production in each kumbung. The challenge that arises in oyster mushroom cultivation is that it grows well at temperatures of 16-30 ° C and relative humidity of 80 - 95%. Environmental conditioning is carried out by the average farmer by manually spraying water in the mushroom kumbung. The use of manual methods requires high human resources, apart from that it is not effective and efficient. This study aims to develop a Temperature and Humidity Control System in Kumbung using a Fuzzy Logic Controller. This research uses Fuzzy Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) Controller, the sensor data (Temperature and Humidity) will be processed as a sensor array, where to determine the temperature and humidity the system will evaluate the readings of several sensors at once. The system developed is an adaptive system using the Fuzzy method which will suit the environment, the test results show an accuracy rate of 86%, so it is expected that the configuration generated by the tool can be used to increase the precision of mushroom cultivation, so that production efficiency and increased mushroom production can be achieved.
