Research on automatic assembly technology of complex curved composite components

Sophisticated composite materials have a range of outstanding broad merits such as high particular strength, high specific stiffness, powerful designability, excellent tiredness resistance, excellent durability, are widely used in transportation, medical, electronics and other area. The assembly process of the composite surface components has large assembly stress, which affects the assembly accuracy. At the same time, the manual assembly cycle is elongated, the efficiency is low, and the quality stability is impoverished, which constraints the assembly mass and assembly power of the complex curved composite components. To improve the assembly power and carry out automatic assembly, this paper designs the automatic assembly technology scheme of the complex curved composite components, designs the automatic assembly scheme verification device, and conducts the automatic assembly test to verify the feasibility of the scheme.

Automatic Assembly Technology of Dense Small Screws for Flat Panel Parts

Screw assemblies of radar are characterized by numerous densely distributed small screws of various types, rendering their manual assembly difficult and inefficient. To improve the assembly quality and efficiency, an automatic assembly system was developed. First, the position and attitude relationships among the workpiece, camera, and base coordinate systems of the manipulator were obtained using three-point location and nine-point calibration methods. Second, a visual servoing strategy is designed for guiding the manipulator such that its position can be adjusted adaptively to achieve the high-precision positioning of threaded holes. Third, a method for evaluating assembly quality is developed. The templates of angle–torque curves of various screws were produced by fitting experimental data. Furthermore, the assembly quality was determined by calculating the similarity between the angle–torque curves and templates based on the Fréchet distance. Finally, the feasibility was verified using a flat plate component with five threaded holes.

An Assembly Status Identification Method for Wedge Belt Automatic Assembly Based on Dynamic Feature

The assembly of the wedge belt joint relies on the sense and experience of human, which limit the application of automatic assembly technology. In order to implement automatic assembly for higher production quality and efficiency, an assembly status identification method based on dynamic feature is proposed. The contact status of the wedge belt in assembly is analysed and the dynamic model is formulated. The dynamic features for identification are compared and the signal of acceleration is selected. The identification method of assembly status is proposed based on the acceleration signal. An experiment is designed to verify the identification method. The experiment result shows that the amplifier of the acceleration decreases much more sharply as it fits well. The proposed identification method is effective and stable, which could be used for the automatic assembly.

Industrial Automatic Assembly Technology Based on Machine Vision Recognition

With the rapid development of science and technology, the means of industrial production have become more diversified and intelligent, and the development of new means of industrial production has become an increasingly important research topic. Therefore, the automatic assembly technology was studied taking machine vision system as the main research subject in this study. An automated assembly model of industrial technology based on machine vision recognition was established, parameters such as the part positioning parameter, assembly time, the number of parts wrongly assembled and the number of parts missing and the qualification rate of assembly were obtained, and the corresponding experimental conclusions were obtained. Moreover it was compared with the traditional manual assembly technology, and it was found that the automatic assembly technology based on machine vision recognition had better performance and more remarkable experimental results compared with the traditional manual assembly technology, and the traditional manual assembly technology needed continuous modification and optimization. This work provides a new route for automatic assembly technology in industrial technology.

Development of a novel integrated automated assembly system for large volume components in outdoor environment

In recent years, automatic assembly technology is widely used in the field of aerospace and automobile manufacturing and engineering. For large-scale components assembly, the pose alignment mechanism always occupies too much space and the cost of measurement system is also too expensive. In this paper, a new integrated automated assembly system is developed which costs much less and has a compact structure. Firstly, a novel three-layer pose adjustment mechanism consisting of two parallel mechanisms is designed, which we call a 6-DOF mixed linkage mechanism. The proposed mechanism is connected by a planar 3-DOF parallel mechanism and a 4-point lifting parallel mechanism in series. Secondly, a high-accuracy long-range measuring system composed of low-cost tilt sensor and laser sensors is proposed. The whole measuring process is divided into several major alignment steps to aid the automated assembly task. Finally, a prototype system that automatically assembles large radar antenna is set up. Various validation experiments are performed, and the results show that integrated large scale automated assembly system can achieve relatively high efficiency and accuracy for assembly task.

Research on automatic assembly technology for final assembly of helicopter fuselage

The helicopter fuselage has the characteristics of compact structure space, complex coordination relationship and weak rigidity, etc. It is difficult to control the accuracy of the desired shape. According to the high precision and quality requirement of final assembly for helicopter fuselage, the application status of automatic assembly technology in aviation manufacturing was analyzed. Then the difficulties of automatic assembly technology for fuselage final assembly were also discussed. In this paper, an automatic assembly system for the final assembly of helicopter fuselage was designed, and relevant key technologies of the assembly system mentioned above were proposed. The designed system have the functions of automatic positioning, clamping, measuring, drilling, feeding and blind fastener riveting for fuselage components, which can improve the assembly quality and efficiency of helicopter fuselage during the final assembly process.

An automated assembly technology for large mobile radar antenna

Purpose Large-scale mobile radars are still erected manually by using lifting equipment, which often fails to meet the requirements on precision, quality and efficiency in the erecting process. This paper aims to introduce techniques for automatic assembly of large mobile radar antenna. Design/methodology/approach A large-scale metrology system for accurate identification of the positions and orientation of the radar antenna components is presented. A novel three-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is designed to realize orientation adjustment of three axes synchronous, and, thus guarantees the efficiency and accuracy of positioning process. Findings The system described in this paper is practicable in outdoor environment and provides a holistic solution that gives full consideration of the operation conditions and the environmental influences. In performance evaluation tests, the measured absolute accuracy is less than ±1 mm and repeatability is less than ±0.5 mm in the positioning task for 10 × 3 m large antenna. Originality/value This paper presents a new concept of an automatic assembly technology for the large radar antenna application.

Research on Automatic Technology of Debugging and Assembling Optical Fiber Collimator

In order to improve the efficiency of debugging and assembling optical fiber collimator and to facilitate mass production, Automatic assembly technology of optical fiber collimator was studied. A new method was proposed to assemble optical fiber collimator by detecting minimal receiving beam spot. First, the relation was analyzed between the detected spot radius and the distance from the emitting end to reception end according to Gaussian beam transmission theory. Then, an automation system was designed to detect the minimal receiving beam spot when the distance was suitable. The optical fiber collimator was successfully assembled after being fixed. Experimental results show that the coupling loss between two collimators is less than 0.53dB when the wavelength of the transmitting light is 1550nm and the distance between two collimators is less than 1 mm.

An Automatic Assembly Technology for Perforated Discs Based on Contour Optimized Hough Circle Transform

Aiming at the low efficiency of handwork and high labor intensity, an automatic solution for perforated discs assembly is developed based on computer vision. This technology consists of the processes of material feeding, parts handling, circle detecting and assembling. The mechatronic structure includes the pneumatic elements and electric actuators that controlled by PLC and stepper motor drivers. This method has solved the problem of the large cost of human force since this product has a big industrial production. Meanwhile, a contour optimized Hough circle transform (CHCT) is proposed. It can overcome the standard Hough circle transform (HCT) s disadvantages, such as redundant calculation and probability of failures. It enhances the reliability in order to satisfy the demand of industrial automatic production. The image processing takes only about 60ms and reaches 100% success rate with a small detection error. This method also has the generality for the similar assembly system based on machine vision.

Digital Automatic Assembly Technology of Stubble-Cutting Equipment of No-Till Planter

In the process of product design, automatic assembly technology can shorten the time spent on assembling all parts into a virtual assembly. In this paper, a digital automatic assembly technology based on coordinate system constraint was put forward. Appropriate coordinate systems which can ensure the correct location of part were built during the establishment of part model through the datum tool. The naming method of coordinate system was prescribed. All coordinate systems in every part of stubble-cutting equipment were established. The steps of realizing automatic assembly were explained in detail. The functions Pro/Toolkit provides were used to program. The operation results show that the technology can reduce repetitive work, improve design efficiency and provide a convenient tool for the design of stubble-cutting equipment of no-till planter.

The Automatic Assembly Technology of Standard Mold Base Based on UG

Abstract: In order to realize the function of automatic assembly of the standard mold base, simultaneously, realize the intelligence and automation of products, the automatic assembly system is analyzed and researched, the design and development of the automatic assembly are completed and the executable files are exported through the function provided by the tool of UG/Open API, which make the mold automatic assembly realistic, the structure of product design and assembly optimized, the product development cycle shortened and the efficiency and accuracy of assembly improved.

Application of Automatic Assembly Technology Based on BRep on Inventor
