Inovasi Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab dengan Buku Digital Silsilah Allisan untuk Penutur Non-Arab

Within the realm of Arabic language education, there are ongoing explorations of various challenges related to pedagogical methods and initiatives focused on developing effective solutions. One notable effort is the creation of a digital book on the Allisan Silsilah by Markaz Lisanul Umm. This study aims to examine and outline the process of learning Arabic among non-Arabic-speaking individuals in Indonesia using the Silsilah Allisan digital book. The study utilizes a descriptive qualitative approach, with the primary data sources being the educators and learners of Silsilah Allisan. Secondary data includes relevant articles and literature. The findings of this investigation indicate that Silsilah Allisan serves as an excellent representation of Arabic language learning. That includes practical and representative audio resources, exercises and kalam, qira'ah, and interactive kitabah facilitated through WhatsApp and Zoom groups. Additionally, proficient instructors in their respective disciplines are available to guide and assist.

At its core lie two pivotal components: the Virtual Tour and Around Campus Guide, meticulously crafted to offer users an immersive and enlightening journey. Powered by cutting-edge 360-degree imagery, the Virtual Tour beckons users to delve into campus locales through mobility and information hotspots, embellished with audio embedding and card popups for a truly engaging experience. Concurrently, the Around Campus Guide streamlines navigation by providing seamless access to nearby amenities, ensuring convenience and efficiency for users on the move. Moreover, the project introduces innovative features such as audio integration with the existing campus map [5], smoothly blending audio resources with physical locations to enrich the exploration process. The inclusion of the Audio Atlas further elevates accessibility by serving as a comprehensive repository of audio files tailored to various campus locales, fostering deeper immersion and understanding. Additionally, the implementation of an Events Tab adds a layer of community engagement, showcasing campus event details alongside captivating location images, thereby fostering a sense of belonging and awareness within the campus community. Through these groundbreaking features, the Campus Navigator Pro project aims to redefine the landscape of campus exploration, setting a new standard for interactive, enriching, and user-centric experiences

The Impact of Short Videos in the Listening Skills of Young Adults with A1 Level from UCACUE

The use of short educational videos as a tool to enhance listening skills in adult learners has gained significant attention in recent years. This study aims to explore the effects of incorporating short everyday English videos into listening activities in university students from UCACUE, La Troncal extension. The research incorporates a comprehensive literature review to identify the theoretical foundations and justifications for using short videos in adult language education. The participants for this study are fifty undergraduate students from the Language Center at UCACUE, with a beginner English level (A1 course) divided into control and experimental. For gathering data, groups are evaluated through questionnaires and pre and post-tests, to obtain quantitative data. Similarly, to attain qualitative data, a survey is introduced to them for analyzing students’ perceptions regarding the implementation of Short Videos in Listening activities. The results of the study revealed a notable enhancement in listening performance, students’ motivation, and engagement for participants who were exposed to video materials compared to those who used traditional audio resources. Participants viewing videos scored higher in post-tests, signifying better comprehension. Consequently, the study concluded that integrating videos effectively enhances listening skills, marking multimedia as a potent tool for educational advancement.

The teaching of additional languages to students with specific learning difficulties: challenges and possibilities of engagement

This essay discusses the right of students with disabilities to modify their school syllabus and teaching methods according to their specific needs, as outlined in Brazilian Law No. 9394/96 and No. 13.146/2015. It presents challenges and possibilities of adapting lesson plans and materials for students with visual impairments, autism spectrum disorder, and dyslexia, using a socio-discursive interactionist (SDI) theoretical-methodological perspective in language teaching. For visually-impaired students, the use of tactile materials, audio resources, verbal descriptions, and assistive technology are suggested when working with genres, but this paper also highlights the difficulty of interpreting graphics, tables and other visual representations. For students with autism, studies have shown that using a didactic sequence can be effective for teaching different genres to students with autism while promoting integration in the classroom. For dyslexic students, it is paramount to focus on guiding students to communicate in practical and meaningful ways from a socio-discursive perspective. Overall, the essay suggests that teachers should tailor their lesson plans to the specific needs of each student with impairments, using a genre-based teaching perspective.

Mobile-Assisted Listening Instructions with Jordanian Audio Materials: A Pathway to EFL Proficiency

This research examined the impact of mobile devices and Jordanian audio resources on the listening abilities of English as a foreign language (EFL) learners. The research included 100 EFL students from Jadara University in Jordan, with 50 students in the experimental group and 50 students in the control group. Quantitative research and ANOVA testing were used to analyze the data. Both groups were pre- and post-tested on listening comprehension, vocabulary, and proficiency. ANOVA was used to compare the mean scores between the experimental and control groups. The ANOVA test determined the impact of mobile devices and Jordanian audio on participants’ listening abilities. The test compared the mean scores of the experimental and control groups to determine whether the intervention significantly improved listening skills. The ANOVA test showed that mobile devices and Jordanian audio resources improved the listening abilities of EFL learners. The experimental group had a superior understanding of vocabulary and listening skills compared to the control group. These studies show that mobile devices and realistic audio content improve EFL listening training. ANOVA showed that this training strategy improved listening skills. This research contributes to the literature on EFL pedagogy literature and assists EFL teachers and curriculum designers in enhancing their listening skills. Future studies may examine other factors that could impact the effectiveness of mobile devices and audio resources in EFL listening training, including intervention duration and learner proficiency. This research shows that these materials can enhance the listening experiences of EFL student.

Exploring the Perceptions of Undergraduate University Students about their English Speaking skills in Hazara Division

This study aimed to investigate the perception of BS students about their English speaking skills. The study’s objectives were, to measure English language speaking skills of BS students in Universities of Hazara Division Pakistan and to find out possible reasons of weak speaking skills of English language of BS students in Universities of Hazara Division Pakistan. The population of the study comprised of all enrolled BS students in English Department of two selected universities, Abbottabad University of Science and Tchnology and COMSATS Abbottabad , Pakistan. Data was collected from 50 undergraduate students of English Department of both universities by using systematic sampling technique through a questionnaire consisted of 40 items. For data analysis, percentage and frequency technique were used as statistical techniques. Results revealed that University students generally display confidence in speaking English, expressing ideas clearly, and utilizing vocabulary, but face challenges in maintaining conversations and understanding diverse accents. Pronunciation and grammar skills are considered strong, yet fear of speaking and limited exposure hinder progress. Addressing language balance in classes, enhancing motivation, promoting idiomatic usage, and improving comprehension strategies are key areas requiring focused intervention for students to excel in English language proficiency. It was recommended that Encourage exposure to native speaker audio materials. students listen to improve pronunciation, educators can recommend and provide access to authentic audio resources like podcasts, interviews, and recordings. This exposure can help students develop accurate pronunciation and intonation to improve there language skills.

The Significance of Ideological and Political Education in College Physical Education

Physical education is an indispensable part of the ideological and political education in Colleges and universities, and it is a course to promote the all-round development of students' morality, intelligence, physique, and beauty. By Integrating Ideological and political education into various sports activities, college students can develop excellent ideological and moral character. But at present, there are still some colleges and universities of physical education is still in the exam oriented teaching state, or there are some deficiencies, can not help college students to shape the correct outlook on the person and values, this paper also puts forward some suggestions; the following is the ideological and political education function of College physical education. Document, picture, and audio are static teaching content display in micro course, which can let students receive knowledge directly. For example, in the construction of document resources, designers need to highlight the content theme, and use color to distinguish the key points in the document, which can not only help students quickly obtain important content, but also change the boring long text. The picture resources are relatively simple, only need to be modified and processed by PS and other image processing software. Finally, audio resources mainly use text or pictures to prompt the content. This kind of audio resources can be directly produced through mobile phones. At present, there are many ways to make audio resources by using mobile phones.

An exploratory study of English as a Second Language students’ “citation” patterns in multimodal writing

This study explores how English as a Second Language (ESL) students make reference to outside sources and incorporate textual repetition using multimodal resources in a video project. ESL students’ source use and citation practices have been studied extensively in the context of traditional text-based writing. However, little attention is paid to the issue of making citations in multimodal writing, despite the fact that multimodal writing has been a popular topic in recent decades. The current study bridges this gap by analyzing the cases of multimodal citation in 14 videos created by ESL students in a first-year composition course, accompanied by insights from two students. The analysis yields three patterns of incorporating sources—concurrently afforded, verbally afforded, and visually afforded citations—that employ different combinations of visual and audio resources. Direct quotations are incorporated as part of the narration as well as the visual representation. These multimodal citations and quotations fulfill three broad rhetorical functions: attribution, exemplification, and establishing links between sources. There is also evidence of knowledge transfer across genre and cultural boundaries. This study provides insights into how modal affordances could be leveraged to acknowledge propositional content in creative and rhetorically effective ways. It provides pedagogical ideas for designing multimodal assignments to engage students in the critical discussion of audience, intertextuality, and discourse community.

Approach to Learning French as A Third Language in Malaysia Through The Auditory Learning Method

Auditory learning is a language learning method that emphasises listening skills to acquire language proficiency. This library research aims to explore the use of auditory learning methods for French as a third language in Malaysia. This research examines the benefits and challenges of using auditory learning for French language acquisition in the Malaysian context through a review of peer-reviewed articles, books, and other sources. The results suggest that auditory learning can be an effective method for language learning, providing learners with opportunities to develop their listening and speaking skills and gain exposure to authentic French content. However, the research also highlights some of the challenges of using auditory learning, including the need for learners to access high-quality audio resources, the potential for miscommunication due to different dialects and accents, and the limited opportunities for interaction and feedback. Therefore, this research provides valuable insights into the use of auditory learning for French as a third language in Malaysia and suggests avenues for future research to develop effective language learning strategies in the Malaysian context further.

A Course Sequence as a Model to Teach Cultural Humility to MSW Students

ABSTRACT This paper discusses the utilization of a cultural humility model to educate social work students in understanding the importance of diversity, power, privilege, oppression, marginalization and social and economic justice in an increasingly diverse society. Social work programs are required to teach students to effectively engage a diversity of clients in practice as well as to take action to resolve issues of oppression and discrimination. While the cultural humility model is gaining acceptance in social work and in social work education, there are few models of how to effectively teach it within the social work curriculum. One model that includes a two-course sequence is presented. The paper discusses components in creating a culturally humble classroom environment as well as specific materials and classroom assignments aimed at providing students with the knowledge, tools and skills essential to practicing with cultural humility. The power of utilizing materials that are representative of a diversity of voices is emphasized with appendices providing written and audio resources.

Fearless Steps APOLLO: Challenges in keyword spotting and topic detection for naturalistic audio streams

Fearless Steps (FS) APOLLO is a + 50,000 hr audio resource established by CRSS-UTDallas capturing all communications between NASA-MCC personnel, backroom staff, and Astronauts across manned Apollo Missions. Such a massive audio resource without metadata/unlabeled corpus provides limited benefit for communities outside Speech-and-Language Technology (SLT). Supplementing this audio with rich metadata developed using robust automated mechanisms to transcribe and highlight naturalistic communications can facilitate open research opportunities for SLT, speech sciences, education, and historical archival communities. In this study, we focus on customizing keyword spotting (KWS) and topic detection systems as an initial step towards conversational understanding. Extensive research in automatic speech recognition (ASR), speech activity, and speaker diarization using manually transcribed 125 h FS Challenge corpus has demonstrated the need for robust domain-specific model development. A major challenge in training KWS systems and topic detection models is the availability of word-level annotations. Forced alignment schemes evaluated using state-of-the-art ASR show significant degradation in segmentation performance. This study explores challenges in extracting accurate keyword segments using existing sentence-level transcriptions and proposes domain-specific KWS-based solutions to detect conversational topics in audio streams. Notes From the Editor Gregory S. Crider The Southeastern Council of Latin American Studies convened 10-12 March 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina for our Sixty-Ninth Annual Meeting. The conference featured forty panels on a wide variety of topics. Program chair Steven Hyland (Wingate University) saw to the essential tasks of putting panels together in the areas of Literature & Cultural Studies as well as History & Social Sciences. Monica Rankin (University of Texas at Dallas), Jürgen Buchenau (University of North Carolina Charlotte), Steven Hyland (Wingate University) and Gregory Crider (Winthrop University) organized local arrangements for the convention. Freed from many COVID-19 restrictions, attendees were thrilled to meet face-to-face this year after the successful but less personal online meeting in 2021. Centered in the historic Dunhill Hotel in uptown Charlotte, members enjoyed our regular social and networking events, professional development opportunities, and diverse local cultural life. As co-sponsors of the conference, the Consortium in Latin American and Caribbean Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University and the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs offered meaningful support and participation. Lou Pérez (UNC), Beatriz Riefkohl-Muñiz (UNC), and Natalie Hartman (Duke) provided critical assistance to the annual meeting. Our collaborators at UNC Press, John McLeod, Kate Stack, and Dylan Stroupe, offered much appreciated backing as well. Now with five years of alliance with the University of North Carolina Press, our readership and exposure continue to grow with inclusion in Project MUSE, an online database of peer-reviewed academic journals and books. The collaboration of these two projects produces opportunities for authors to share their work, advancement of meaningful scholarly engagement, and written and audio resources for classrooms and the public. As always, TLA editors welcome new ideas and suggestions. This volume features some of the best papers from the conference in article format. “Go and Wash up!”: Gender Violence in Female Refereeing and Its Media Coverage in Brazil and Spain

Violence in sports has the greatest impact in the media, especially on television. In the case of refereeing, although there are studies that have specifically addressed violence, those performed on female referees have not had the same repercussions. Accordingly, the aim of this paper is to analyse the media coverage of violence against female referees in Brazil and Spain. In parallel, its intention is to reflect the perceptions of female referees in this respect. The methodology employed combined case studies with critical discourse analysis, based on news items and focus groups with female referees. The results reveal that gender violence against female referees is the most widespread type of aggression. Moreover, they highlight the sensationalist nature of the TV coverage of the phenomenon through the incorporation of visual and audio resources. Lastly, the findings of this study show how the prominence that this type of violence has achieved in the media has ended up eclipsing the recognition of the work of female referees.

ASTRO[SOUND]BITES: AN AUDIO RESOURCE FOR INFORMAL EDUCATION

Astro[sound]bites is a bi-weekly, freely-available podcast companion to the popular blog Astrobites.org. The graduate-student co-hosts of astro[sound]bites present Astrobites content, with an emphasis on synthesizing diverse subfields and pursuing topics peripheral to research. Each episode features a "space sound" segment in which we play and discuss an audio clip related to astronomy and astrophysics. Astro[sound]bites conveys recent astronomy research results in an engaging and accessible manner without visual media. As of April 2022, we have published 53 episodes across many streaming platforms, with approximately 200 downloads per episode in 70 countries, totalling over 12,000 downloads. While astronomy content is often conveyed visually, we provide a crucial resource for auditory learning and promote efforts for inclusionary practices in astronomy.

Selection of Audio Learning Resources Based on Big Data

Currently, audio learning resources account for a large proportion of the total online learning resources. Designing and implementing a method for optimizing and selecting audio learning resources based on big data of education will be of great significance to the recommendation of learning resources. Therefore, this paper studies a method for selecting audio learning resources based on the big data of education, with music learning as an example. First, the audio signals were converted into mel spectrograms, and accordingly, the mel-frequency cepstral coefficient features of audio learning resources were obtained. Then, on the basis of the conventional content-based audio recommendation algorithm, the established interest degree vector of target students with respect to music learning was expanded, and a collaborative filtering hybrid algorithm for audio learning resources that incorporates the interest degrees of neighbouring students was proposed, which effectively improved the accuracy and stability in the prediction of students’ interest in music learning. Finally, the experimental results verified the feasibility and prediction accuracy of the proposed algorithm.

Design of the Higher Education System Based on Parallel Association Rules Algorithm

Aiming at improving the quality of online education, a higher education system based on parallel association rules algorithm is designed. In this study, the functional structure module of the system is divided into six modules, namely, the home page module, course module, teacher module, student module, administrator module, and personal center, so as to carry out a comprehensive treatment for students, teaching, and education resources. On the basis of mining the data association rules of the education system, the parallel association rules algorithm is used to identify and analyze the original data of the system, so as to fundamentally improve the ability of the system to process data and complete the personalized recommendation of educational resources and teaching evaluation feedback. Experiments show that the design system has greater information throughput, a short response time, and a resource utilization rate of more than 90%. In addition, the audio teaching resource plays better, which proves that the system effectively achieves the design expectation.

Variational Fuzzy Neural Network Algorithm for Music Intelligence Marketing Strategy Optimization.

In this paper, we use a variational fuzzy neural network algorithm to conduct an in-depth analysis and research on the optimization of music intelligent marketing strategy. The music recommendation system proposed in this paper includes a user modelling module, audio feature extraction module, and recommendation algorithm module. The basic idea of the recommendation algorithm is as follows: firstly, the historical behavioural information of music users is collected, and the user preference model is constructed by using the method of matrix decomposition of the hidden semantic model; then, the audio resources in the system are preprocessed and the spectrum map that can represent the music features is extracted; the similarity between the user's preferred features and the music potential features are calculated to generate recommendations for the target user. The user-music dataset for model training and testing is constructed in-house, and the network model structure used for system experiments is designed based on a typical convolutional neural network model, while the model training tuning parameters are compared and selected. Finally, the model is trained and tested in this paper, and the system is evaluated in terms of both prediction rating accuracy and recommendation list generation accuracy using root mean square error, accuracy, recall, and F1 value as recommendation quality evaluation metrics. The experimental results show that the recommendation algorithm in this paper has certain feasibility and effectiveness. Compared with other traditional music recommendation algorithms, this paper makes full use of the powerful advantage of deep neural networks to automatically extract features and obtain higher-level music feature representations from the audio content, while incorporating the historical behavioural information of user interactions with music, which can effectively alleviate the problems such as cold start in recommendation systems.

THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF THE VOCATIONAL TRAINING OF FUTURE SOCIOLOGISTS BY MEANS OF EDUCATIONAL CYBERSPACE

The article is devoted to the analysis of the state of the modern professional training of future sociologists in Ukraine and the definition of the scientific grounds for its quality improvement connected with the use of educational cyberspace. Special attention is paid to the researches of the issue provided by modern Ukrainian and foreign scientists. Due to the analysis of the scientific literature as well as multilateral analysis of the practice of professional training of sociologists in Ukraine and abroad, particular problems and challenges are highlighted. In the process of the problem investigation, the conclusion was made on the particular necessity to diversify the applied approaches to foreign language learning and teaching in terms of the present mode of hybrid education at the university. The various methods and innovative approaches developed are the attempts to answer these actual questions for the vocational training of future sociologists. The methodological support of the mentioned process of future sociologists training is developed in Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University: the special course “The formation of the professional qualities of a future sociologist in the process of context training” for learning and teaching the foreign language (English) for the special purposes by means of educational cyberspace in the academic environment. The process of designing and delivering the materials of this course offered the possibility to sort out the traditional effective means of vocational training and supplement them with the means of educational cyberspace.
