English Abstract: The article is devoted to the political and legal views of the Athenian philosopher Isocrates on the issue of territorial integrity of the state. It is noted that the question itself is fairly new for ancient Greek political and legal thought: because of the structure of the city-state issues of national unity revealed mainly in terms of spiritual, rather than territorial component (in particular, in the works of Plato and Aristotle). Analyzes the speech Archidamus, written in order to support the rights of Sparta on seeking independence Messenia. On the example of this dispute highlighted the arguments in favor of holding the territory. Most of the reasons are specific and relevant for the States of the ancient world: mythology, the decisions of the oracle, the legality and validity of the acquisition of territory by war, prescription possession of territory and no objection from the neighboring states. Attention is drawn to the absence of a relevant time legal mechanisms to ensure the integrity of the state, and therefore the only means of keeping the territories of the ancient world was a military force. It is concluded that the writing of the speech addressing specific policy objectives, Isocrates, one of the first to express the idea of the territorial integrity of the state and its protection.
