Management of Sustainable Tourism Destination Development at Carocok Painan Beach Tourism Object. This research describes the management of sustainable tourism development on the coast of Carocok Painan. Sustainable tourism focuses on aspects of sustainable tourism, namely from an economic, social and cultural perspective. Which in that local communities must be involved in tourism activities, as well as fair share of the benefits that are obtained specifically in the creation of direct and indirect employment. This research qualitative methods. The selection of informants was carried out by using purposive sampling technique. The data validity test used triangulation technology. Collecting data through interviews and library research. Data analysis technology is carried out through data reduction, data representation, and data verification. The results showed that it could be said that the development of sustainable tourism on the coast of Carocok Painan was very smooth. Even in the development of sustainable tourism, there are still shortcomings and obstacles.

PT Bali Hai Cruises Nusantara’s Corporate Social Responsibility Activities in Nusa Lembongan Bali

Purpose: This research was conducted to know the forms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, the disclosure of corporate social responsibility, and the implementation of corporate social responsibility on stakeholders. Research methods: The data used in this research was secondary data. This research was conducted in a qualitative method in which the data collections were through observation and documentation. Results and discussion: The results showed that the implementation of the international conventions cluster showed that the companies implemented the role and regulation of sustainable tourism in using the land and the environmentally friendly materials for building. The result also implemented the National law and regulations cluster which are concerned about employee health and safety as it is considered that the activities do mostly in the sea. Meanwhile, the local decreases cluster showed that CSR's program implemented three different aspects of sustainable tourism. These aspects are economic, ecology and social culture. Conclusion: Overall PT Bali Hai Cruises Nusantara implemented the CSR program to local stakeholders in order to keep the company's sustainability.

Selected aspects of sustainable tourism and their application in the operation of accommodation and catering facilities in the Moravian-Silesian Region

Given the global nature of tourism and the increased mobility potential of the population, the sustainability of tourism has been a topical issue for many years. The paper aims to map aspects of sustainable tourism and the extent of their use in the operation of accommodation and catering facilities in the regional environment; the research was conducted in the Moravian-Silesian Region, which is very specific on several levels. There are a number of large industrial enterprises that have a negative impact on the environment; on the other hand, there are countless natural, cultural, technical and other attractions, which are reflected in the increasing traffic to this destination. Due to the restructuring of the industry, the region is clearly showing its ecological tendencies, and the region is trying to present itself as an environmentally friendly region. In the context of tourism, there is a need to provide quality, eco-friendly accommodation, and catering services. The paper contains an overview of indicators based on the European system of indicators in the field of tourism and their specific impacts primarily on the environment. There is also an overview of whether and to what extent operators of accommodation and catering facilities in the Moravian-Silesian Region apply tools used mainly in connection with ecological behaviors, such as waste sorting, wastewater treatment, water management, and energy savings. For the analysis and comparison, were used primary data from controlled interviews with operators of monitored facilities, and secondary data from the Czech Statistical Office.

Community arts as an inclusive methodology for sustainable tourism development

PurposeCommunity arts practice gives voice to a younger generation, who must be studied as part of the development process from commencement, to accomplish building sustainable destination development in the direction of future prosperity for the rural community.Design/methodology/approachThis paper challenges a relatively weak critical practice of the community-based tourism (CBT) by introducing community arts methodologies as a research approach in the context of tourism, the opportunity is created to give voice to a younger generation that must also be included in the development aims of the CBT to achieve sustainable community tourism development.FindingsThe CBT aims to support access to quality participation in the development process. However, investment in education and building tourism entrepreneurs is not inclusive of the future generations beyond the original generation. Consideration of the desires and imaginations of the future generations must be part of the CBT project for tourism development sustainability. Building awareness of the fragility and value of tourist attractions and resources, in a younger generation that never experienced the original attractions of the traditional village, is critical to achieving the objectives of the CBT.Research limitations/implicationsThe paper is not yet attempting to examine the empirical data of this research. Rather, it challenges current CBT research processes as having a narrow reach into a community.Practical implicationsTourism developers and local communities should include an understanding of what directions and what opportunities the next and future generations will have to continue sustainable development. Including children’s imaginations into a community’s tourism development plans will benefit awareness of the present context and assist locals in forecasting the next stage of village development. The present tourism planners would then have a holistic vision for a design strategy sustaining rural livelihoods that acknowledge the limits of nature-based resources and cultural resources.Social implicationsCommunity arts research offers the possibility of inclusive participation of community members. Arts methodology attempts to articulate ideas in visual form, for the aim of discussion, reflection and realization of the desires and concerns of the community in terms of lifestyle, environment and cultural heritage, in preparation for the future generation taking control of tourism development. The process aims to impact future decisions effecting the course of tourism development in rural Thailand.Originality/valueThe paper discusses the potential contribution of community arts practice as a complementary tool by taking into account different aspects of sustainable tourism into CBT concept. The paper evaluates what has been missing in advancing our understanding of sustainable rural tourism development in Thailand. It fills the gaps with a methodological approach that gives voice to the local community. The purpose of this paper is to rethinking the ideology and approach of CBT to be inclusive of all demographics of society for the goal of achieving sustainable tourism and sustainable community development in Thailand context.

Sustainable tourism implementation in urban areas: a case study of London

ABSTRACTSustainable tourism is a concept widely embraced by managers and planners of tourist destinations. However, it has received little attention in the context of urban tourism, an area of research that has until recently been largely neglected by academics. This paper contributes to the body of knowledge on sustainable tourism implementation in large cities, by using London as an exploratory case study. Through the collection and analysis of both primary and secondary data (online survey, semi-structured interviews and document analysis), it seeks to explore whether local authorities have implemented policies towards sustainable tourism in the capital. The findings indicate that although the concept of sustainable tourism is perceived as important by policy makers, only a few local authorities in London promote its principles in their policy documents and even fewer have initiatives to put them in practice. Most of these initiatives are isolated activities which address limited aspects of sustainable tourism. The paper concludes that despite some progress made to date, in the current economic climate, growth and development remain the main objectives of governments and local authorities, while social and environmental issues are often left behind.

Экономические аспекты устойчивого развития туризма в регионах Российской Федерации

At the present time the analysis of tourist destinations in Russia within the framework of sustainable tourism is becoming increasingly important. And it is predetermined not only by the recognition of the credibility and usefulness of the sustainable tourism concept, but also by the raising awareness of broad medium- and longterm effects and externalities, as well as all interdisciplinary aspects of the tourism industry development in Russia and in its regions which need to be thoroughly studied for both academic and practical reasons. This article aspires to uncover a number of fundamental economic aspects of sustainable tourism in the context of regional destinations. The selection of a regional perspective is dictated by the fact that at this level are formed many of the most important prerequisites for sustainable long-term development of the tourist complex, specifically in terms of economically rational decision-making processes on the part of regional and local authorities and businesses. A major objective of the paper is to focus at least on the partial spectrum of the economic factors that must be borne in mind in the process of developing a strategic plan for sustainable development of a regional tourism destination in Russia. A broader economic interpretation of sustainable tourism, advocated in this study, goes beyond the relatively narrow scope of environmental and socio-economic impacts of tourism development; and it is relating to some less obvious economic aspects of destination development, but which are nevertheless directly related to the issues of sustainable development and are influential factors within this perspective. The two central blocks of economic factors of sustainable tourism development are structured, with description of their importance and main topics, specification of challenges and threats to regional destinations’ economic development. Some examples from Russian and world practices of preventing and addressing individual problems are analyzed. The first block includes the components of investment, funding, fiscal and budgetary nature. The second block consists of the aspects of the tourism industry’s organizational and structural features, the factors of production employed and interactions with other industries of the region and the outside world. And the analysis of economic issues of regional destinations’ sustainable development in the second section goes beyond the cluster approach, which is the predominant focus in Russian studies. Together, these two blocks of factors form the organizational and economic mechanism of the tourist complex, which it is advisable to develop on the basis of a full-fledged mainstreaming sustainable tourism.

Rural tourism

Global changes in the tourist market are characterized by an increasing representation of tourist forms differentiating from those for which the system 3S is valid (sun, sea, sand). The contemporary trend of moving from the concept of mass tourism to the individual forms of tourism opens to rural tourism the position in the world market of the 21th century. Rural tourism has no characteristics of massiveness and it is compatible with the aspects of sustainable tourism.

Crisis Management, Tourism and Sustainability: The Role of Indicators

The damage to tourism caused by a crisis or disaster may not only have serious implications for a national economy but also threaten the livelihoods of many in the destination. The monitoring of crisis indicators could allow intervention to minimise the crisis and offers a chance of protecting tourism for the benefit of all stakeholders. This paper evaluates the role of crisis indicators in sustainable tourism development, and shows why this is closely connected to issues in sustainable tourism. The author challenges the conventional classification of crises and suggests that grouping them according to their triggers is more useful in predicting and managing a potential crisis. Empirical data gathered during interviews with senior Malaysian public and private sector representatives highlight some of the practical issues associated with the identification and monitoring of appropriate indicators. The paper concludes that the new classification allows crisis management to be more cost-effective and may also be a key to indicator development for other aspects of sustainable tourism. The travel trade may hold the key to indicators of market trends, but there would be issues in obtaining the necessary information for reasons of confidentiality.
