Portraying the Learning Needs of English Language in Non-English Department Students

The existence of English language courses plays an important role in efforts to welcome industry 4.0. This is caused by the use of English which dominates knowledge and science and even today's lifestyle. Thus, in the implementation of teaching, English has been taught from low level education to high level education. Learning English at the college level non-English majors have different needs than English majors. Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) is present as one of the non-English majors and has a curriculum that requires students to master English, especially for research needs, articles, teaching materials and books and other sources written in English. This is because education departments have already developed in countries that use English and Latin as their national languages. It can be emphasized that some of the learning materials and resources written in books, articles and journals related to the field of PGSD are written in English and Latin. So that through needs analysis, lecturers and students can find out which aspects of language skills and competencies must be mastered to support the scientific field they are pursuing. Through the results of the analysis, lecturers can also determine what teaching methods, media and materials are in accordance with the learning objectives that have been formulated.

Analisis Keterampilan Berbicara Terhadap Sikap Percaya Diri Siswa Kelas Tinggi Sekolah Dasar

The aspect of language skills that a student needs to master and understand after listening is speaking skills. Speaking skills are very important in everyday life because humans are social creatures who talk to other people every day. The ability to pronounce sounds or articulate words to express, express thoughts, ideas and feelings is called speaking. Speaking skills are one of the skills that students want to develop. This type of research is library research, namely research carried out by analyzing and using written literature in the form of books, scientific journals and newspapers as the main source. This library research research approach is qualitative, namely research that emphasizes the analysis of previously existing data. The results of the research in the form of reading skills are really needed by elementary school students, especially high class students, to encourage their self-confidence. As we know, elementary school students, especially high class students, tend to have more social interactions both at school and outside school and are usually asked by teachers to do more work. group assignments, therefore speaking skills are the most important thing.

IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH THE UTILIZATION OF QUIZLET APPLICATION AT THE TENTH GRADE OF MAS IBADURRAHMAN IN 2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR

<p>Vocabulary as one aspect of language skills is considered to have a paramount role on the mastery of other language skill in language learning. Therefore, to improve students’ vocabulary mastery a myriad of studies have employed MALL as an approach in clasroom practices, particulary for English language teaching (ELT). This study aimed to investigate how to use of digital game application called Quizlet affected students’ vocabulary mastery. This study was conducted at the Tenth grade class of MAS Ibadurrahman with 33 students as the participants. Classroom action research with two cycles was used as the research design. In each cycle, the researcher collected both qualitative and quantitative data. The qualitative data were taken through observation checklist, diary notes, interview, and documentation while the quantitative one from pre- test, post-test I and post-test II. The result of qualitative data revealed that: 1) students enjoyed and actively participated in vocabulary learning utilizing Quizlet application; 2) students felt more interested and motivated to learn vocabulary mastery. Whereas the result of quantitative data showed that in cycle I, there was 9 students reaching the Minimum Criteria of KKM score with the average score of 62.2 while the percentage was 27.2%. In cycle II, 29 students reached the Minimum Criteria of KKM score with the average score of 85.6 while the percentage was 87.8%. Eventually, it can be concluded from the students’ scores that there was improvement from cycle I to cycle II, thus vocabulary learning activities utilizing Quizlet application was effective.</p>

Augmented reality-enhanced language learning for children with autism spectrum disorder: a systematic literature review

ABSTRACT Augmented reality (AR) provides numerous opportunities for digitally-aided language interventions for autistic children. Educators and researchers have reported a variety of outcomes and insights about the use of AR as an educational and pedagogical tool. The unique advantage of AR suggests that it supports attentional behaviour, fosters emotional and social skills, and improves communication abilities in children with autism. However, the efficacy of this technology for language learning in autistic children has not previously been systematically reviewed. The purpose of this review was to summarise findings on AR-enhanced language learning interventions for autistic children to help guide researchers in future studies. We conducted a systematic literature review, collecting 44 peer-reviewed studies covering different language domains. From there, further analysis identified 13 studies that focused on language acquisition and 31 that focused on language use. Our survey presents an overview of AR research for language learning in autistic children over the last 10 years, providing insights into aspects of language skills, the AR technologies used, research design and strategies, the underlying learning theories and models adopted in the studies, and whether the reported results were accompanied by some form of evaluation. Finally, this review proposes several recommendations for future research.

Arabic Curriculum Design in the Merdeka Curriculum from the Perspective of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)

This paper aims to analyze the design of the Arabic language learning curriculum in the Merdeka curriculum. Researchers use the ACTFL standard in analyzing the content of the Arabic language curriculum in the aspect of competence and depth of mastery of Arabic formulated in the Merdeka curriculum. The purpose of this analysis is to compare Arabic learning outcomes in the Merdeka curriculum with ACTFL standards used internationally in learning foreign languages. The type of research used is qualitative research with a content analysis approach. Data collection methods with documentation. The data and data sources of this research are the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education 3211 of 2022 concerning the learning outcomes of Islamic religious education and Arabic for the Merdeka Curriculum in Madrasah. Qualitative content analysis design of the Kripendorff model through the stages of selecting units, determining samples, recording data, reducing data, drawing conclusions, narrating research results. The results showed that the Arabic curriculum in the Merdeka curriculum based on ACTFL is divided into 2 aspects, namely: aspects of language skills and language proficiency levels. Language skills include: 1) language skills (language proficiency and language elements), 2) communication skills: interpersonal communication, presentation communication and interpretive communication, 3) cultural skills. The Arabic language learning curriculum design in the Merdeka curriculum is taught from phase A, the easiest level relevant to the ACTFL standard at the low beginner level and phase F is the highest level relevant to the ACTFL standard at the superior level. Analysis of Arabic learning outcomes in the Merdeka curriculum based on ACTFL standards is at the Novice Low to superior level.

THE EFFECT OF THE SAS (STRUCTURE ANALYSIS SYNTHESIS) METHOD WITH THE HELP OF BACALAH’S BOOK

Reading is an aspect of language skills that affects students' success in understanding various subjects. Reading Skills, of course, begin with initial reading; preliminary reading is critical so that students have reading skills. This study aims to see and understand the effect of assisted reading books SAS method to improve the ability to read Early Grade II Elementary School students. The technique applied is an experimental method based on the post-test Pretest design of one group with T-test data analysis. The results showed mean pretest = 24.7 and mean posttest = 73.1. This means there is a significant difference between the initial reading ability of students before treatment and after treatment with the SAS method. The results of the T-test analysis have a significance value of 0.000 which indicates that the significance value 0.05, then Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted. Therefore, with the help of reading books, the SAS method dramatically affects the early reading ability of Grade II Elementary School students.

PENERAPAN GERAKAN LITERASI MEMBACA BUKU DENGAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PJBL UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KOSAKATA BARU PADA MATA PELAJARAN BAHASA INDONESIA SISWA KELAS 4 SDN 1 NGEBEL

Learning Indonesian in Elementary Schools (SD) aims to improve students' ability to be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. In learning Indonesian, there are four aspects of language skills that must be mastered by students, namely listening skills, speaking skills, reading skills, and writing skills. Reading is not just reciting written symbols, but what is more important is that readers must be able to understand various information or messages contained in the text they read. Listening and speaking skills are oral language skills while reading and writing skills are written language skills. The purpose of this study was to find out the results of implementing literacy movement with the pjbl model for Indonesian language lessons for class IV SDN1 Ngebel. The research method used is the PTK method, namely by carrying out the teacher's responsibilities as researchers. Through PTK the teacher examines the problems they face scientifically based on empirical evidence. PTK is research conducted by teachers in their own classes through self-reflection with the aim of improving their performance so that student learning outcomes increase. In accordance with this type of research, namely CAR, this research has several stages of implementation, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The implementation of the actions in this study was planned in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. There are two data analysis techniques in this study, namely quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. Based on the results of this study, the authors conclude that according to the findings of the research that has been done, it results that there is an increase in new vocabulary in the Indonesian language subject for fourth grade students at SDN1 Ngebel using the project-based learning model.

ANALISIS KESULITAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN PADA SISWA KELAS II DI SEKOLAH DASAR

Reading is one aspect of language skills that students must have. Reading at the beginning level is an activity to learn to recognize written language and students are required to voice the symbols of language sounds. The purpose of this study was to analyze the form of difficulty and factors causing the difficulty of learning to read grade 2 elementary school students in Tasikmalaya Regency. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, data collection is carried out through student reading tests which are confirmed by observation and interview process. The sample in this study was 2 male students and 1 female student who had been given a reading test. The results of this study state that the form of difficulty and the factors causing the difficulty of learning to read each student are different. Based on the test results that students followed, the forms of reading learning difficulties experienced were: difficulty recognizing letters, distinguishing similar letter shapes, combining letters into words, and wrong pronunciation by replacing letters. The factors causing students' difficulty learning to read are divided into two factors, namely internal factors.

Animation Learning Media in Improving Narrative Writing Skills of Elementary School Students

Learning in elementary schools is carried out with the aim of teaching students writing skills. This writing skill is important to have because it is one of the four aspects of language skills. However, many studies report that students' narrative writing ability is still low, so efforts are needed to improve it. One effort that can be done to overcome these problems is to use animated learning media. This study aims to see how far the influence of the use of animated learning media on narrative writing skills of elementary school students. This research method uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental model with a non-equivalent control group design. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 064006 Medan Marelan. The sample in this study were fifth grade students as many as 50 respondents. The research instrument used was a description test through a post-test while the data analysis technique used descriptive quantitative. The results of this study indicate that students' narrative writing skills in classes that use animated learning media are better than classes that do not use animated learning media. The conclusion from this study is that animation learning media has an effect on developing students' narrative writing skills.

Counseling on Reading Culture for Teachers at Haleluyah Christian Kindergarten, Central Jakarta

The development of the times demands that everything can quickly accept change. This change occurs in almost all aspects of life, including the development of education in kindergarten. Indonesian is an important part of education. The importance of learning Indonesian because in it there are four aspects of language skills. Each skill has its own role and function. Likewise with reading skills in children. These skills are considered important in kindergarten education because children have started to be prepared for a higher level of education, namely elementary school. The habit or form of cultivating reading is very important because there will be many benefits for children. Culture has a simple meaning, namely something that is used to. Therefore, the culture of reading in the Kindergarten education environment is something that must be paid close attention to because children will be accustomed to and trained to read from an early age.

English Writing Challenges of First-Year Students: A Case Study of a University in the Eastern Cape

Writing is a productive skill, which means that the emphasis is on the output. The fact that most students in South Africa learn English as a second language (L2) presents challenges concerning English writing proficiency, because writing is different from speaking since it utilises higher-order cognitive skills. The study analysed 184 students’ scripts showing different forms of students’ writing, such as, reports, creative writing assignments, language tests, business correspondence, research papers, answering open-ended questions on extracts and the like. A qualitative method was used to explore and describe challenges encountered by students in English writing by collecting students’ scripts to identify problem areas where interventions needed to be applied. Purposive sampling was employed for the study as the focus was specifically on first-year University students registered for different modules, but all taking Communication (English), which is a compulsory module. Various theories such as the writing process, error analysis and proficiency theory were explored in order to understand the processes that underpin academic writing. The hypothesis is that mother-tongue linguistic features will pose challenges as they are embedded in the students’ cognitive language skills, and they will therefore interfere in English writing since the students’ mother tongue and English have different linguistic rules. Possible solutions for the many and varied challenges are the application of different processes that include different pedagogical methodologies. Error analysis played a crucial role in the study since it has a bearing on students who speak English as a second language because it investigates errors which are systematic and which result from language interference (this can manifest in intralingual and/or interlingual interference). In order to address these challenges, facilitators must employ pedagogical strategies that will encompass different teaching methods and different assessment methods that will link language exercises to other forms of writing such that there is a correlation between different aspects of language skills. APLIKASI UNLALIA BATIK TROSO BERMUATAN EMPAT KETERAMPILAN BERBAHASA SEBAGAI INOVASI PEMBELAJARAN SISWA KELAS VIII SMP/MTs

In learning Indonesian at SMP/MTs Kudus, there are not many students use android-based media. Even though Android-based learning media is important, especially for persuasion material which includes four aspects of language skills. This study aims to analyze the needs of students and teachers in the use of learning media and then describe the development of the Unlalia Batik Troso application which contains four aspects of language skills. The research method used is Research and Development which uses the theory of Sukmadinata of three stages of development. The subjects in this study are 110 students consisting of: 32 students from SMP N 1 Undaan Kudus, 40 students from Mu'allimat NU Kudus, and 38 students from MTs NU Assalam Jati Kudus. Students and teachers state that learning media is important in the Indonesian language learning process. This can be seen from the results of the needs analysis with the percentage of 67% of Indonesian teachers stating that they really need learning media and 33% stating that there is a need for learning media. The results of the analysis of student needs are that 92% of students really need application learning media and 8% of students say they need application media. While the results of the development of the Unlalia Batik Troso application prototype utilize several supporting applications, namely Canva, CapCut, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Smart Apps Creator.

Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Team Games Tournament dalam Pembelajaran Mahārah Kitābah di Perguruan Tinggi

The study aims to describe TGT (Team Games Tournament) cooperative learning model as an alternative learning strategy to increase student motivation and creativity in various aspects of language skills, including Arabic. This research method uses qualitative and quantitative research. The subjects in this study were students majoring in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education at STAI Al-HIKAM Malang. Data collection techniques in this study were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instrument used the implementation observation sheet. The results of this study are: a) Based on the presence and recap of the student learning outcomes score sheet. b) Based on the structured interview sheet the implementation of the students after using the TGT (Team Games Tournament) cooperative learning model for Arabic language learning. The study results indicate that learning using the TGT (Team Games Tournament) learning model can improve Arabic learning abilities by making students more active and enthusiastic in the learning process.

Analisis Citraan Buku Tunas Bangsa Penuh Pengorbanan sebagai Bahan Ajar Menulis Puisi bagi Siswa Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

Children's literature plays an important role in the stage of child development, through children's literature adults can communicate with children so that literature can be used to improve language skills and abilities. One aspect of language skills is writing skills. In fact, there is still a lack of writing skills, especially writing poetry, one of the reasons is that students think writing is an exciting and less interesting activity. In the 2013 curriculum writing poetry is contained in learning Indonesian for grade IV elementary school. In writing poetry, it is necessary to have an image or imagination as a picture that beautifies the work. The purpose of this study was to find out the kinds of images contained in the book Tunas Bangsa Penuh Pengorbanan, based on the analysis, it was used as teaching material for writing poetry for fourth-grade elementary school students, teaching materials were made that were interesting, innovative and easy for students to understand to increase creativity in ideas student. Data collection techniques using document analysis and analysis techniques using data reduction, data display, and data verification. Based on the research, obtained as many as 6 kinds of imagery in the book Tunas Bangsa Penuh Pengorbanan, including 45 visual images, 31 auditory images, 4 tactile images, 7 movement images, 3 smell images, and 14 intellectual images. From these findings, the book of Tunas Bangsa Penuh Pengorbanan contains quite a lot of imagery that can be used as teaching materials for elementary school students writing. This book with many varied images is very suitable to be used as a material for stimulating students' imagination when learning to write.

Rekonstruksi Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran dan Pengembangan Keterampilan Menulis Teks Anekdot bagi Siswa SMA/MA di Era Merdeka Belajar

This article aims to find out how the quality of the items and assessment rubrics on aspects of language skills, namely the writing skills of students in class X SMA / MA in the odd semester Indonesian language lessons anecdotal text material located in Kudus. Researchers reconstructed the items and assessment rubrics and developed the learning media that would be delivered to students. The KD taken in this study were KD 3.5 for the realm of knowledge and KD 4.5 in the realm of anecdotal text material skills. The research that the researcher makes is included in the form of descriptive-qualitative research. The techniques in data collection that the researchers used in making this article include: reading and writing techniques and analysis techniques with data reduction, presenting existing data, and drawing conclusions. Furthermore, the results found that the lesson plans of Indonesian language teachers at SMA/MA Kudus did not meet the criteria for the assessment of the three aspects, namely material, construction, and language. The first aspect is the material reaches 70%, construction 70%, and language 75%. In addition, the assessment rubric which was originally still in the cognitive domain was reconstructed by changing to the skill or psychomotor domain. The last result is the development of media used by teachers, researchers develop learning media so that students' skills in writing anecdotal texts can be achieved through the existence of android-based learning applications in the era of independent learning, especially in anecdotal texts. So that the learning objectives in the era of independent learning can be achieved optimally.

PENGARUH TEKNIK TRI-FOKUS STEVE SNYDER TERHADAP KECEPATAN EFEKTIF MEMBACA SISWA KELAS X SMA SWASTA MUHAMMADDYAH RANTAU PRAPAT TAHUN AJARAN 2018/2019

Abstract Reading is one of the four aspects of language skills. Reading including receptive skills, which serve to absorb the information. The low reading proficiency will greatly affect the effectiveness of students' reading. This paper describes the influence of engineering Steve Snyder Tri-focus on effective speed reading class X SMA Muhammaddyah academic year 2019/2020. This study is quasi-experimental. The research sample is the class X-1 and X-2. The research concludes effective speed reading speed of students by using Tri-Focus on high school students of class X Muhammaddyah Rantau Prapat classified in either category with an average value of 72.72. The Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) In Learning Writing Narrative

This study aims to describes narrative writing skills are one aspect of language skills that are very important. Learning to write until now is still a lesson that is less attractive to students. One of the things that causes it learners are less interested in the teaching of writing is the selection of instructional media, need for learning as something that is fun, comforting, and easy is something that is urgent due to the development of modernization in various fields. One of them is information and communication technology (ICT), through the use of media, it is hoped that it can help facilitate students in expressing ideas to be developed into a narrative essay. The use of media has the possibility to be used as an alternative method in an effort to develop narrative writing learning. It is expected that most students are happy and interested in learning using media. In addition, the media can help the difficulties of students in determining topics in their narrative.

ISTIRĀTĪJIYYAT TA'LIM AL-LUGAH AL-'ARABIYYAH 'AN BU'D

Active learning strategies are all forms of learning that allow students play an active role in the learning process. There is a covid pandemic 19 can hinder its implementation, such as delivery methods, quotas and networks Internet. In this case the tutors must determine the right strategy in learning delivery of Arabic language matrices such as the four maharahs online. The formulation of the problem in this study is to explore language learning strategies distance Arabic on the four aspects of language skills. And the goal in this research is to find out how the strategy is implemented. This research method uses a qualitative approach by using Qualitative descriptive method with the type of field research on a matrix scale consisting of from analysis with data collection tools in the form of observations, interviews, documentation. The results of the study show that the learning strategies used in listening skills is a PAKEM strategy with the samiyah syafahiyah method, in the third subject using the method correctly according to the aspects of listening skills while the other subjects tend to learn skills read. The learning strategies of speaking skills applied are: PAKEM strategy with direct method, the third subject using the method correctly according to the aspect of listening skills, while the other subjects tend to learn reading skills. Learning strategies on reading skills using the PAKEM strategy by the third tutor, while the other tutors use the inquiry method. The three tutors use the method qiraah jahriya. The Arabic language learning strategy for writing skills that is applied is the PAKEM strategy for the third tutor, and the others using inquiry. All tutors use the imla masmu and imla manqul methods.

Peningkatan Kemampuan Bahasa Anak Menggunakan Metode Bernyanyi Pada Anak 5-6 Tahun

The purpose of this study is to facilitate children to improve language skills in students of group B KB Cempaka Putri by using singing methods. Because singing method is one way to stimulate the development of language in life. Singing can improve children's vocabulary so that they can develop aspects of their language development. This research is classroom action research. The research is divided into two cycles, with each cycle consisting of design, execution of actions, observations, and reflections. The subjects of the study were students of group B KB. Cempaka Putri, numbering 6 people. The data source comes from teachers and students. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, and documentation. Validity of data using source triangulation techniques, triangulation methods and time triangulation. Data analysis using qualitative data analysis techniques and quantitative data analysis. The results showed that the use of singing methods can improve children's language skills from pre-cycle to cycle I and from cycle I to cycle II that is carried out well and effectively, this can be seen from the change in aspects of language skills in listening, understanding language, and expressing language better than ever. The conclusion of this study is that the application of singing methods can improve the language skills of students of group B KB Cempaka Putri.

The Application of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning Model in Improving the Ability to Find Elements of the Nonfiction Book for Class VII Students of SMP Negeri 1 Ma'u Nias Regency 20202021 Learning Year

Reading is the process of obtaining information through writing. By reading, someone will add insight. The message conveyed by the author will be a consideration for the reader because in the discourse there is information that attracts readers. The more often you read, the more knowledgeable someone will be. Reading in education is one aspect of language skills that students need to master because reading is an important skill to support the learning process. This is because reading is the first step in understanding a subject matter. Through reading, students can absorb the information and ideas in reading. The objectives of this study were: To improve the ability to find elements of non-fiction books using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning Model for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ma'u Nias Regency 2020/2021 Learning Year.
