Molecular and morphological characterisation of Ditylenchoides anyae sp. n. (Nematoda: Anguinoidea) from Iran

Summary A new species, Ditylenchoides anyae sp. n., recovered from soil in the headland areas of non-cultivated fields in Alborz Province, Iran, is described and illustrated based on its morphological, morphometric, and molecular characters. The new species was characterised by a slender body and length of 784 (663-925) μm (females) and 667-712 μm (males), lip region continuous, stylet length 6.4 (6.0-7.0) μm, lateral fields with four incisures, and excretory pore situated 110 (82-137) μm from the anterior end, median bulb of pharynx fusiform, non-muscular, and non-valvate, isthmus elongate, slender ending at a pyriform basal pharyngeal bulb not overlapping intestine, vulva with distinct and relatively large lateral flaps, a well-developed post-vulval uterine sac, 31.3 (27-35) μm long, a female tail elongate-conoid with pointed terminus; and male with adanal bursa and spicules 21-22 μm long. The new species was characterised using the D2-D3 expansion segments of 28S rRNA, ITS rRNA, and partial 18S rRNA gene sequences. Phylogenetic analyses of the genus Ditylenchoides are given based on the analysis of these genes.

A means of destroying sites of perennial root shoot weeds with pests and diseases in them

BACKGROUND: The subject of the study is the technological process of protective spraying of agricultural crops using a combined method against perennial weeds in sites in the field using two pneumohydraulic devices with slot atomizers as part of an improved small-sized boom sprayer. AIM: Development of a technical mean for exterminating sites of perennial root shoot weeds with pests and diseases in them. METHODS: The developed pneumohydraulic devices were used for an improved mounted boom sprayer of plants to treat sites of perennial weeds in the field. Chemical spraying with combined use of the traditional method and the developed pneumohydraulic devices with axial fans and 12 V electric motors, ensuring the distribution of droplet liquid on the treatment surface with two sprayers over 4 meters, is able to reduce the amount of the applied chemicals compared to the conventional technology and to reduce the pesticide load on crop plants by local destruction of sites of weeds, pests and diseases. Based on the developed methods, the results of spraying the surface with a drop liquid with a known dispersion using slot sprayers and controlled liquid pressures with a dial gauge during experiments were obtained. SCIENTIFIC NOVELTY: For the first time, a combined method and technical mean of achieving the research aim have been proposed for the destruction of sites of perennial weeds in the field and the diseases and pests of agricultural crops spread in them. RESULTS: When using a mounted sprayer with two containers for working fluids of combined herbicide solutions or for an insecticide solution in one of the containers and installation of the improved pneumohydraulic devices on the edges of the boom with a conventional arrangement of slot atomizers, it is possible to meet agrotechnical requirements for the use of herbicides, insecticides and fungicides. The simultaneous impact of large drops of herbicides on weeds and the penetration of small drops into plants will destroy sites of rhizome and root weeds with pests and diseases to ensure favorable conditions for the production of agricultural crops. CONCLUSION: A combined method and the technical mean of chemical treatment of perennial weeds with pests and diseases to create favorable conditions for the production of cultivated plants has been experimentally substantiated. Compliance with the conditions is ensured by equipping the mounted sprayer with two containers, pumps for supplying liquid through hoses to slot atomizers, and installing pneumohydraulic liquid nozzles at the edges of the boom. Working liquid sprayers ensure spraying width of more than 4 m, taking into account the size of a site, as well as spraying inaccessible areas using conventional technical means. The efficiency of the developed combined protective spraying of agricultural crops against perennial weeds and pests by the technical mean of its implementation lies in the savings of expensive herbicides and insecticides up to 70% in the later stages of their growing season (as they grow over the field area) compared to the forced continuous application of the herbicide over the entire field area.

Prediction of impulse waves generated by the potential failure of large deposits in the Rumei Reservoir, Lancang River, China

The impulse wave generated by the reservoir landslide seriously endangers the surrounding safety. In this paper, the failure mode of a large deposit in Rumei Reservoir, China was first explored by centrifuge test. Thereafter, a physical model based on Froude similarity (scale 1:200) and a numerical model based on fluid‒solid coupling were constructed. The failure motion process and the generated impulse waves of the deposits at high (2895 m) and low (2750 m) water levels are studied in detail. The results of the two models are similar. The velocity and wave height of the deposits at the 2750 m water level are greater than those at the 2895 m water level. The maximum wave heights generated in the river under both conditions exceed 46 m and 22 m, respectively, and the maximum run-ups formed on the opposite bank are 71 m and 30 m, respectively. This also suggests that landslides in the near field area are dangerous. Waves at both water levels will not overtop the dam, but attention should be given to the effect of the first wave at the 2895 m water level on the dynamic water pressure in the key area of the dam.

Design and Implementation of a Smart Wireless Access Point for A Gas Station (SWAP-GS)

The gas distribution sector is a good fit for wireless communications, especially considering how often distribution facilities are located in distant areas. The underlying communications infrastructure needs to be extremely dependable, with a resilient system that links sensors and controls throughout a vast field area network, when working with accumulated and real-time data. The resulting detail assists managers in creating and modifying business processes, managing the station site fully, and increasing operational efficiency. A wireless gas station offers an architecture based on Wi-Fi standards for applications that track and collect data all the way down sto the sensor level. The goal of the research was to install a wireless infrastructure network at a service station. When used in a gas station, plant, enable users to access real-time information, exchange and share sensor readings from the access point, and develop a smart wireless access point system with higher secure encryption than the generic wireless network. The NodeMCU microcontroller, which broadcasts the real-time data to the clients, receives inputs from a temperature, pressure, and humidity sensor. This allows the system to do such activities. It was believed that the built wireless infrastructure will enhance the existing LAN infrastructures. A few basic prerequisites are taken into account. First and foremost, a microcontroller, a sensor unit, software design, and compliance with IEEE 802.11 standards were required.

Analysis of subtract quality along the Wiringtasi River, Barru Regency, Indonesia

This research aims to determine the quality of the substrate of the Wiringtasi River, Barru Regency, Indonesia. The research locations include location 1, namely the location around the rice field area; location 2, namely the location around the pond area and beach; and location 3, namely the location around the river estuary where many mangrove plants grow around it. Subtract samples were taken at the research location, then the samples were taken to the laboratory for analysis. The results of laboratory analysis are made in the form of pictures and tables, then analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of the research show that in this study the substrate quality of the Wiringtasi River, Barru Regency, Indonesia, each had a pH value of the substrate in the range of 8.05-8.64, total nitrogen was in the range. Nitrogen was in the range of 0.049-0.121%. The organic material content of the substrate is in the range of 0.33-0.59. The ammonia (NH3) content of the substrate is in the range of 0.019–0.45 ppm. The nitrite content of the research location is in the range of 0.0025-0.0064 ppm. The substrate texture of location 1 is dusty clay, while locations 2 and 3 are sandy.

Analisis Kelayakan Potensi Destinasi Wisata di Kampung Saradan/Sawah Abadi Kelurahan Cisurupan, Kecamatan Pasirluyu Kota Bandung

The city of Bandung as a leading tourist destination was also strengthened based on the results of a survey conducted by the Fastbooking.com site at the end of 2014. At the world level, the city of Bandung is in the 21st position in the most popular/favorite tourist destination in the world. The advantages of the city of Bandung also come from the level of comfort and livability of the city. The city of Bandung still has the potential to become an attraction and tourist destination, namely eternal rice fields which function as food fields as well as Green Open Space (RTH) with an area of ??32.8 hectares. The eternal rice field area is located in the Cisurupan Village area, Pasirluyu District, which is also included in the North Bandung Area (KBU). This research is directed at analyzing the feasibility of tourism potential and data analysis in the Sawah Abadi area, Cisurupan Village, Pasirluyu District, Bandung City within the scope of market aspects, technical/operational and management aspects, as well as financial aspects. The aim of this research is to determine the tourism potential so that it can become a tourist area. The research method used is descriptive, which describes a phenomenon as it is by examining it regularly, prioritizing objectivity, and carrying it out carefully. There is no treatment given or controlled, and there is no hypothesis testing. The targeted output is to produce a written report and it is hoped that this output can be used by the community in the Sawah Abadi Area, Cisurupan Village, Pasirluyu District, Bandung City.

A descriptive study to assess the knowledge attitude and practice of employees regarding prevention of occupational health hazards in a selected sugar mill of Uttar Pradesh

Background: Approximately 30 to 50% works exposed to occupational health hazard and 120 million workers become victim in 200000 fatalities annually. Aim of the study was to assess the knowledge attitude and practice of employees regarding prevention of occupational health hazards in a selected sugar mill of Uttar Pradesh. Methods: A descriptive survey was done on co-operate sugar mill Baghat. Data has been taken from the co-operate sugar mill employees working on the machine and in field areas. 100 participants had chosen using convenient sampling technique. Structured knowledge questionnaire was developed to assess knowledge, structured checklist to measure practices and Likert scale to assess attitude of employees. Results: 60% employees worked in machinery area and 40% were in field area. 37% have not faced any hazards faced, 26% has faced eye infection, 19% got fracture,18% developed respiratory problems, 17% faced crush injuries, 16% had back problem, 13% have burn injuries and 4% had history of any kind of allergy. 6% of sugar mill employees had good knowledge, 51% sugar mill employees had average and 43% employees had poor knowledge. 15% employees had good practice; 85% employees had poor 90% employees had good attitude; 10% employees had poor attitude regarding occupational health hazard. Conclusions: Lack of knowledge regarding prevention of occupational health hazard put workers on risk of many diseases. Awareness program should be conducted regularly to enhance knowledge of workers and improve their skills.

Mitigation and Optimization of Induced Seismicity Using Physics‐Based Forecasting

AbstractFluid injection can induce seismicity by altering stresses on pre‐existing faults. Here, we investigate minimizing induced earthquake potential by optimizing injection operations in a physics‐based forecasting framework. We built a 3D finite element model of the poroelastic crust for the Raton Basin, Central US, and used it to estimate time dependent Coulomb stress changes due to 25 years of wastewater injection in the region. Our finite element model is complemented by a statistical analysis of the seismogenic index (SI), a proxy for critically stressed faults affected by variations in the pore pressure. Forecasts of seismicity rate from our hybrid physics‐based statistical model suggest that induced seismicity in the Raton Basin, from 2001 to 2022, is still driven by wastewater injection despite declining injection rates since 2011. Our model suggests that pore pressure diffusion is the dominant cause of Coulomb stress changes at seismogenic depth, with poroelastic stress changes contributing about 5% to the driving force. Linear programming optimization for the Raton Basin reveals that it is feasible to reduce earthquake potential for a given amount of injected fluid (safety objective) or maximize fluid injection for a prescribed earthquake potential (economic objective). The optimization tends to spread out high‐rate injectors and shift them to regions of lower SI. The framework has practical importance as a tool to manage injection rate per unit field area to reduce induced earthquake potential. Our optimization framework is both flexible and adaptable to mitigate induced earthquake potential in other regions and for other types of subsurface fluid injection.

Evaporitic–lacustrine mudstone laminites and prodelta mudlobes – continuity and change in the Hartmann's Valley interval, Murray formation, Gale crater, Mars

ABSTRACTThe sedimentary fill of Gale crater on Mars is dominated by lacustrine strata that are the focus of investigations into surface processes, climate change and habitability early in the planet's history. This study focuses on the lower part of the explored portion of the Murray formation on Aeolis Mons (Mount Sharp) in the Pahrump Hills and Hartmann's Valley field areas. At Pahrump Hills, sedimentary features and geochemical attributes of exposed mudstones suggest accumulation in an underfilled lake basin in which lake levels, shorelines and salinities fluctuated greatly at various temporal scales. The immediately superjacent stratigraphic interval, designated by the rover team as the Hartmann's Valley member, has previously been interpreted as an aeolian‐deposited sandstone interval. This fresh examination of all available data, however, suggests that the Hartmann's Valley member is strongly dominated by the same mudstone facies that compose most of the underlying Pahrump Hills member. The one novel facies element encountered in the Hartmann's Valley member are undulose bedded to convex bodies of mudstone that are oriented roughly north–south, suggestive of sediment supply from a northern fluvial source. Mudstones analogous in scale and character to these undulose mudstones occur on Earth in multiple modern and ancient lacustrine successions, and are related to deposition of prodelta mud lobes. The mudstones of the Hartmann's Valley member record a continuation of the underfilled evaporitive lake system proposed previously for the underlying Pahrump Hills member but with somewhat more variable environmental conditions. Hartmann's Valley mudstones contain more abundant matrix CaSO4, suggesting more severe evaporitic conditions, whereas the interbedded undulose bedded mudstones signify intermittent freshening and buildout of mud‐dominated deltas into the lake. The textural similarities between Pahrump Hills and Hartmann's Valley strata suggest that the Gale lacustrine system operated at a stable depositional mode with similar environmental parameters during both stratigraphic intervals.

Enhancing Public Health: training an AI chatbot for complex tasks support

Abstract Background The evolution of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT-4, Gemini, and Copilot has transformed the field of Natural Language Processing, demonstrating human-level capabilities and potential applications in Public Health. Here, we report on the training of a chatbot model based on GPT-4 designed to assist operators with relevant and complex public health tasks. Methods A scoping review of existing studies on the application of LLMs in Public Health settings was conducted to understand the landscape and identify gaps in their current implementations. We then proceeded to analyse the necessary skills and competencies required for public health professionals to adequately instruct the model on required tasks. Finally, we selected the Italian regulations and guidelines with the greatest relevance in the public health field to provide the knowledge base to the model. Results The review revealed no relevant documents on the use of LLMs in areas related to Public Health. Skills and competencies were retrieved from the Guidelines of the Italian Society of Hygiene for Public Health operators and used to instruct the model on how to address public health tasks. As for the knowledge base, we retrieved 25 documents regulating specific areas of the public health field, such as vaccinations, hygiene and safety at work, infection prevention, and school hygiene. Such documents were used to train the model, after formatting them appropriately. Conclusions Despite challenges with non-standardized and technically complex documentation, preliminary testing of our model has shown its versatility and utility in supporting daily public health operations. A validation phase is under definition and will involve a DELPHI process, in which products of the custom GPT model will be evaluated by a panel of public health operators to evaluate its performance in real-world settings, ensuring compliance with national health regulations. Key messages • Training a GPT-4-based chatbot to support complex tasks in Public Health, tailored by relevant national guidelines. • Our custom model, informed by public health guidelines, showed potential in preliminary tests.

A survey on person and vehicle re‐identification

AbstractPerson/vehicle re‐identification aims to use technologies such as cross‐camera retrieval to associate the same person (same vehicle) in the surveillance videos at different locations, different times, and images captured by different cameras so as to achieve cross‐surveillance image matching, person retrieval and trajectory tracking. It plays an extremely important role in the fields of intelligent security, criminal investigation etc. In recent years, the rapid development of deep learning technology has significantly propelled the advancement of re‐identification (Re‐ID) technology. An increasing number of technical methods have emerged, aiming to enhance Re‐ID performance. This paper summarises four popular research areas in the current field of re‐identification, focusing on the current research hotspots. These areas include the multi‐task learning domain, the generalisation learning domain, the cross‐modality domain, and the optimisation learning domain. Specifically, the paper analyses various challenges faced within these domains and elaborates on different deep learning frameworks and networks that address these challenges. A comparative analysis of re‐identification tasks from various classification perspectives is provided, introducing mainstream research directions and current achievements. Finally, insights into future development trends are presented.

The Impact of Climate Change on the Mental Health of Populations at Disproportionate Risk of Health Impacts and Inequities: A Rapid Scoping Review of Reviews

The impacts of climate change on mental health are starting to be recognized and may be exacerbated for populations at disproportionate risk of health impacts or inequalities, including some people living in low- and middle-income countries, children, indigenous populations, and people living in rural communities, among others. Here, we conduct a rapid scoping review of reviews to summarize the research to date on climate impacts on the mental health of populations at disproportionate risk. This review highlights the direct and indirect effects of climate change, the common mental health issues that have been studied related to climate events, and the populations that have been studied to date. This review outlines key gaps in the field and important research areas going forward. These include a need for more systematic methodologies, with before-and-after comparisons or exposure/non-exposure group comparisons and consistent mental health outcome measurements that are appropriately adapted for the populations being studied. Further research is also necessary in regard to the indirect effects of climate change and the climate effects on indigenous populations and populations with other protected and intersecting characteristics. This review highlights the key research areas to date and maps the critical future research necessary to develop future interventions.

Simulation study on additive-promoted microwave dehydration of lignite

ABSTRACT Microwave dehydration technology has been widely used in coal processing methods due to its unique advantages. Adding additives with high dielectric loss to coal can enhance the microwave absorption capacity of coal, so as to effectively improve the dehydration process. In order to understand the change and distribution of multi-fields in the microwave drying process of lignite under the action of different additives, verify the experiment and reduce the cost and number of experiments, this paper established a multi-field coupling model of electromagnetic field and heat and mass transfer of multiphase porous media based on COMSOL Multiphysics, so as to simulate the microwave drying process of lignite. The results show that the distribution areas of electromagnetic field, temperature field, and vapor in coal are basically the same, while the distribution of liquid water is just the opposite. With the enhancement of additive promotion effect, the parts with strong electromagnetic field strength increase, the hot spots of temperature field increase, the maximum temperature, and minimum temperature increase, and the water content in coal samples decreases. The promotion effect of additives on the microwave dehydration process of lignite is consistent with the experiment.

Gut microbiome-derived metabolites in Alzheimer's disease: Regulation of immunity and potential for therapeutics.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder and cause of dementia. Despite the prevalence of AD, there is a lack of effective disease modifying therapies. Recent evidence indicates that the gut microbiome (GMB) may play a role in AD through its regulation of innate and adaptive immunity. Gut microbes regulate physiology through their production of metabolites and byproducts. Microbial metabolites may be beneficial or detrimental to the pathogenesis and progression of inflammatory diseases. A better understanding of the role GMB-derived metabolites play in AD may lead to the development of therapeutic strategies for AD. In this review, we summarize the function of bioactive GMB-derived metabolites and byproducts and their roles in AD models. We also call for more focus on this area in the gut-brain axis field in order to create effective therapies for AD.

A Semantic Segmentation Method for Winter Wheat in North China Based on Improved HRNet

Winter wheat is one of the major crops for global food security. Accurate statistics of its planting area play a crucial role in agricultural policy formulation and resource management. However, the existing semantic segmentation methods for remote sensing images are subjected to limitations in dealing with noise, ambiguity, and intra-class heterogeneity, posing a negative impact on the segmentation performance of the spatial distribution and area of winter wheat fields in practical applications. In response to the above challenges, we proposed an improved HRNet-based semantic segmentation model in this paper. First, this model incorporates a semantic domain module (SDM), which improves the model’s precision of pixel-level semantic parsing and reduces the interference from noise through multi-confidence scale class representation. Second, a nested attention module (NAM) is embedded, which enhances the model’s capability of recognizing correct correlations in pixel classes. The experimental results show that the proposed model achieved a mean intersection over union (mIoU) of 80.51%, a precision of 88.64%, a recall of 89.14%, an overall accuracy (OA) of 90.12%, and an F1-score of 88.89% on the testing set. Compared to traditional methods, our model demonstrated better segmentation performance in winter wheat semantic segmentation tasks. The achievements of this study not only provide an effective tool and technical support for accurately measuring the area of winter wheat fields, but also have important practical value and profound strategic significance for optimizing agricultural resource allocation and achieving precision agriculture.

Spatial-Temporal Analysis of Land Cover Change and Oil Palm Expansion in Gunung Mas

Abstract: The area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia has increased over time. The growth of oil palm plantations even exceeds the percentage of the area of paddy fields, especially in Gunung Mas Regency. This phenomenon is accompanied by the implementation of "Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2020 concerning Land Fire Control". The regulation aims to prevent land fires due to human activities. However, local people believe that burning can increase land productivity. As a result, many people convert their land to plant oil palm, because it is considered to guarantee economic improvement compared to paddy fields. Remote sensing satellite imagery is the basis and main source in the analysis. With spatio-temporal analysis, mapping of land use changes in a certain period of time and its relationship with the distribution of agricultural wet and dry areas. As a result, the proportion of palm oil land in Gunung Mas Regency is higher than the proportion of paddy fields. If oil palm expansion continues in the future, agricultural drought could become more widespread. Are multimodal large language models a viable option for reliable, low-cost football analysis?

As the reasoning, vision and data analysis capabilities of multimodal large language models continue to develop rapidly, with competing models outcompeting their predecessors on many benchmarks, the question of how these capabilities can be used arises. One potential use case lies in sports analytics: a rapidly developing field which continues to rely more heavily on advanced technical methods than in previous years. This paper explores how state-of-the-art large language models can be utilised in football player analysis by determining the reliability of information provided in three crucial areas in the sports analysis field: data collection, data analysis and data visualisation to help determine the feasibility of using such models to provide reliable player analysis at lower costs than current methods.

The LTAR Cropland Common Experiment at the Kellogg Biological Station.

The Kellogg Biological Station Long-term Agroecosystem Research site (KBS LTAR) joined the national LTAR Network in 2015 to represent a northeast portion of the North Central Region, extending across 76,000 km2 of southern Michigan and northern Indiana. Regional cropping systems are dominated by corn (Zea mays)-soybean (Glycine max) rotations managed with conventional tillage, industry-average rates of fertilizer and pesticide inputs uniformly applied, few cover crops, and little animal integration. In 2020, KBS LTAR initiated the Aspirational Cropping System Experiment as part of the LTAR Common Experiment, a co-production model wherein stakeholders and researchers collaborate to advance transformative change in agriculture. The Aspirational (ASP) cropping system treatment, designed by a team of agronomists, farmers, scientists, and other stakeholders, is a five-crop rotation of corn, soybean, winter wheat (Triticum aestivum), winter canola (Brassicus napus), and a diverse forage mix. All phases are managed with continuous no-till, variable rate fertilizer inputs, and integrated pest management to provide benefits related to economic returns, water quality, greenhouse gas mitigation, soil health, biodiversity, and social well-being. Cover crops follow corn and winter wheat, with fall-planted crops in the rotation providing winter cover in other years. The experiment is replicated with all rotation phases at both the plot and field scales and with perennial prairie strips in consistently low-producing areas of ASP fields. The prevailing practice (or Business as usual [BAU]) treatment mirrors regional prevailing practices as revealed by farmer surveys. Stakeholders and researchers evaluate the success of the ASP and BAU systems annually and implement management changes on a 5-year cycle.

Analysis of Game Variables and Influence on Defensive Success in Elite Handball

Background: The analysis of defensive game variables in handball is essential to increase the performance of a team. Objectives: This study aimed to analyse defensive success based on the game variables and situational variables that predict defensive efficiency in elite handball. Methods: The sample was composed of 1925 competition units in the defensive phase. Data from 16 matches of the XXIII Men's Handball World Championship of 2013 were analysed. The dependent variable was the defensive efficiency in each unit, and the independent variables were defensive actions, zones of field, location of the shot, numerical situation, and duration of the defense. Data were obtained from the HandballTAS tool (Handball Tactic Analysis System). The collected data were analysed quantitatively through inferential statistics (independent sample t-test) with the assistance of SPSS 22.0. Results: The defenses analysed in which an offensive foul, a ball recovery or steal, a throw block and a passive play action were recorded, achieved defensive success. In the analysis of field areas, the greatest defensive efficiency was obtained in shots from zone 1, with 60%, and from zone 2, with 54%. The highest percentages of goalkeeper effectiveness correspond to the middle zone, and the central zone. The greatest defensive efficiency was obtained in a warning of passive play situation with 70% and in numerical superiority situation with 67%. Finally, in the analysis of the duration, the greatest defensive efficiency was obtained in the half defenses (26 ≤ 50 seconds) with 60%. Conclusion: This study serves to demonstrate which defensive game variables have the greatest influence on defensive efficiency. This aspect will serve to help the coach make decisions during a handball match and increase the probability of success in each defense.

ABSTRACT Rabies has been one among the most dreaded diseases to man since antiquity. The present study was intended to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding rabies prevention among adults residing under the field areas of Medical College Health Unit, Pangappara. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding rabies prevention, to assess the practice regarding rabies prevention, to find out the correlation between knowledge and attitude and to find out the association between knowledge of adults regarding rabies prevention with sociodemographic variables. The research approach adopted for the study was quantitative and the data was collected from 408 participants. The study design was cross sectional design and participants were selected using cluster sampling technique. Socio demographic data and the knowledge were assessed using an interview schedule, attitude and practice were assessed using a five point Likert scale and a checklist respectively. Data analysis was carried out using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that 47.1% had good knowledge,28.4% had average knowledge and 24.5% had poor knowledge regarding rabies prevention and 38% of adults had positive attitude,36% had uncertain attitude and 26% had negative attitude towards rabies prevention,45.9% reported good practice after an animal bite. The study revealed that there was a moderate positive correlation between knowledge and attitude (r = 0.443 and p < 0.05) and there was a significant association between knowledge of adults regarding rabies prevention with age, socio economic status and adults participation status in rabies prevention campaign. The study concludes the necessity for preventing the mortality by dog mediated Rabies.
