Exploration of the Application of Agricultural Intelligent Robots in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

In order to improve agricultural efficiency, reduce labor intensity, and improve the quality and yield of agricultural products on the Tibetan Plateau, this paper takes the application of traditional agricultural robots as an example and proposes the application of agricultural robots to agriculture on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau based on the special breeding environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau combined with the current situation of traditional agriculture. Through the application practice of robots in traditional agriculture, the possibility of the application of agricultural robots in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is pointed out, the working methods and advantages of robots in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are expounded, and the application of intelligent agricultural robots in the agriculture of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is discussed and analyzed. The results show that with the progress of science and technology, intelligent robots have gradually played an important role in various fields, and intelligent robots have broad application prospects in plateau agriculture. The application of agricultural robots in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau should be aimed at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to make some adaptive research and development, intelligent upgrading and demonstration project promotion in order to promote the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau agricultural automation.

Multi-scene application of intelligent inspection robot based on computer vision in power plant

As industries develop, the automation and intelligence level of power plants is constantly improving, and the application of patrol robots is also increasingly widespread. This research combines computer vision technology and particle swarm optimization algorithm to build an obstacle recognition model and obstacle avoidance model of an intelligent patrol robot in a power plant respectively. Firstly, the traditional convolutional recurrent neural network is optimized, and the obstacle recognition model of an intelligent patrol robot is built by combining the connection timing classification algorithm. Then, the artificial potential field method optimizes the traditional particle swarm optimization algorithm, and an obstacle avoidance model of an intelligent patrol robot is built. The performance of the two models was tested, and it was found that the highest precision, recall, and F1 values of the identification model were 0.978, 0.974, and 0.975. The highest precision, recall, and F1 values of the obstacle avoidance model were 0.97, 0.96, and 0.96 respectively. The two optimization models designed in this research have better performance. In conclusion, the two models in this study are superior to the traditional methods in recognition effect and obstacle avoidance efficiency, providing an effective technical scheme for intelligent patrol inspection of power plants.

Double-sided microstructured flexible iontronic pressure sensor with wide linear sensing range

Iontronic pressure sensors have garnered significant attention for their potential in wearable electronic devices. While simple microstructures can enhance sensor sensitivity, the majority of them predominantly amplify sensitivity at lower pressure ranges and fail to enhance sensitivity at higher pressure ranges, leading to nonlinearity. In the absence of linear sensitivity in a pressure sensor, users are unable to derive precise information from its output, necessitating further signal processing. Hence, crafting a linearity flexible pressure sensor through a straightforward approach remains a formidable task. Herein, a double-sided microstructured flexible iontronic pressure sensor is presented with wide linear sensing range. The ionic gel is made by 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(tri-fluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (EMIM:TFSI) into the matrix of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP), which acts as active layer, featuring irregular microstructures (IMS) and pyramid microstructures (PMS) on both sides. Unlike previous complex methods, IMS and uniform PMS are easily and achieved through pattern transfer from a sandpaper mold and micro-pyramid template. The iontronic pressure sensor exhibits exceptional signal linearity with R2 values of 0.9975 and 0.9985, in the wide pressure range from 100 to 760kPa and 760 kPa to 1000 kPa, respectively. This outstanding linearity and wide sensing range stem from a delicate balance between microstructure compression and mechanical alignment at the ionic gel interface. This study provides valuable insights into achieving linear responses by strategically designing microstructures in flexible pressure sensors, with potential applications in intelligent robots and health monitoring.

Bioinspired sensors and applications in intelligent robots: a review

PurposeVision, audition, olfactory, tactile and taste are five important senses that human uses to interact with the real world. As facing more and more complex environments, a sensing system is essential for intelligent robots with various types of sensors. To mimic human-like abilities, sensors similar to human perception capabilities are indispensable. However, most research only concentrated on analyzing literature on single-modal sensors and their robotics application.Design/methodology/approachThis study presents a systematic review of five bioinspired senses, especially considering a brief introduction of multimodal sensing applications and predicting current trends and future directions of this field, which may have continuous enlightenments.FindingsThis review shows that bioinspired sensors can enable robots to better understand the environment, and multiple sensor combinations can support the robot’s ability to behave intelligently.Originality/valueThe review starts with a brief survey of the biological sensing mechanisms of the five senses, which are followed by their bioinspired electronic counterparts. Their applications in the robots are then reviewed as another emphasis, covering the main application scopes of localization and navigation, objection identification, dexterous manipulation, compliant interaction and so on. Finally, the trends, difficulties and challenges of this research were discussed to help guide future research on intelligent robot sensors.

Research on Key Technologies of Artificial Intelligence for Intelligent Manufacturing

Intelligent manufacturing, as the main form of future manufacturing, is the highland of a new round of competition in the global manufacturing industry, which will fundamentally change the production and manufacturing methods and technological and economic paradigms formed by human beings since the industrial revolution. At present, the intelligent manufacturing industry is still in the early stage of development, which is characterized by three typical characteristics: continuous growth of market size, strong promotion by national governments and diversification of competition subjects. At present, China's manufacturing industry is facing transformation, and the manufacturing industry is bound to need to transform to intelligent manufacturing. Industrial robots are the main content of current intelligent manufacturing, how to fully apply artificial intelligence technology to the manufacturing of industrial robots, so that its manufacturing efficiency, manufacturing accuracy and other product attributes are improved, to maximize its economic benefits, has a particularly important application value. The application of intelligent manufacturing and robots can not only promote the faster development of manufacturing, but also reconstruct new forms of manufacturing. Based on this, the paper first summarizes the application technology of intelligent manufacturing, and then analyzes the key technology of robot application for reference to relevant workers.

A Path Planning System for Orchard Mower Based on Improved A* Algorithm

The application of intelligent mobile robots in agriculture has emerged as a new research frontier, with the integration of autonomous navigation technology and intelligent agricultural robots being the key to the widespread adoption of smart agricultural machinery. This paper investigates comprehensive coverage path planning for tracked lawnmowers within orchard environments and addresses challenges related to task allocation and battery life. Firstly, in this study, the motion model of the tracked lawnmower was initially simplified based on assumptions about the orchard environment. Force analyses were conducted on each of its motion mechanisms. For the known orchard environment, a grid-based mapping technique was employed to model the orchard environment. Then, in order to improve the algorithm speed and reduce the number of turns during the lawnmower’s traversal, the A* search algorithm was enhanced by combining the method of robot cluster traversal in the orchard environment. Finally, the improved method was simulated and verified in the MATLAB platform to investigate the influence of the number of lawnmower clusters on the path planning in the connected and non-connected orchards. Furthermore, two sets of on-site field trials were meticulously designed to validate the reliability, practicality, and efficacy of the simulation experiments.

The applications and prospects of intelligent services robots in medicine

With the rapid growth of the ageing population and the increasing demand for medical services, the medical market is facing great challenges and opportunities. Intelligent service robots can provide various medical services, such as patient monitoring, drug distribution, medical record management, etc., which can improve medical efficiency, reduce the burden of medical staff, and have the advantage of 24-hour uninterrupted service. However, the application of intelligent service robots in the medical field still faces some challenges, such as technical limitations, legal and ethical issues. In addition, there are also differences in patient acceptance and demand for intelligent service robots. Based on the summary of intelligent medical treatment, this paper will introduce the application of intelligent service robots, study the application and prospect of intelligent service robots in medical treatment and the innovation of intelligent service robots in business models. Through literature review, SWOT analysis and data, the paper explains the wide application of intelligent service robots and their future opportunities and challenges.

Development analysis of intelligent robots in manufacturing industry

With the continuous development of the manufacturing industry, the application of intelligent robots is becoming more and more extensive. Many emerging technologies can be applied to intelligent robots. Typical intelligent robots still have room for further improvement in terms of automatic control and adaptation to the surrounding environment. And independent learning of production tasks and realization of human-computer interaction is the future development direction of industrial robots. In view of these deficiencies, the development of intelligent robots is particularly important. This paper introduces the application fields, key technologies and needs of intelligent robots, and explains the important position of intelligent robots in the future manufacturing industry. The functions of intelligent robot control, perception and human-computer interaction based on artificial intelligence technology are studied. Possible future challenges, limitations and problems will be presented at the end of this paper.

An intelligent dual-sensing e-skin system for pressure and temperature detection using laser-induced graphene and polydimethylsiloxane

Motivated by artificial intelligence, we present a novel electronic skin (e-skin) system capable of dual-sensing pressure and temperature signals. Our approach utilizes laser-induced graphene and polydimethylsiloxane, offering a simple yet efficient method for e-skin preparation. Experimental results reveal exceptional performance with good pressure sensitivity (0.037 kPa−1 at 0–50 kPa), a wide detection range (0–220 kPa), a fast response time of 56 ms, an ultra-low detection limit (30 Pa), and excellent stability (8000 cycles). Additionally, the e-skin exhibits positive temperature coefficients (0.0025 ℃-1) within 20–100 ℃, a rapid response time of 2.57 s, an extremely low detection limit (1 ℃), and stability after 50 cycles. Crucially, our intelligent e-skin system, employing a Long Short-Term Memory algorithm, enables real-time multi-modal tactile perception, accurately separating mixed pressure and temperature signals. This versatile technology holds immense potential for applications in intelligent robotics and human health monitoring.

Analysis the Principle of AI Chips and the State-of-art Applications

In recent years, the artificial intelligence (AI) chips have emerged as indispensable components specialized for executing AI computations, which is considered as a new era for integrate circuit industry. On this basis, this study comprehensively examines the underlying principles, performance characteristics, diverse applications, limitations, and prospective directions in AI chip research. The parallel architecture, sparsity, quantization, and adaptability of AI chips empower the expeditious and efficient processing of AI tasks. These chips find versatile applications in computer vision, healthcare, and intelligent robotics, amplifying their transformative impact. Nevertheless, challenges persist in terms of scalability, versatility, and the rapid pace of technological evolution. As a matter of fact, ongoing research endeavors should prioritize the symbiotic optimization of hardware and software, the creation of energy-efficient designs tailored to specific domains, and the seamless integration of emerging technologies. These results offer a lucid depiction of the prevailing state and the anticipated trajectory of AI chip development.

Research on application of intelligent robot based on AI technology in agriculture

With the continuous progress of science and technology, artificial intelligence has profoundly changed various industries, and the agricultural field is no exception. As an important part of modern agriculture, smart agriculture is rapidly emerging, creating brand-new formats and opportunities. At present, the development of agricultural industry is also developing in the direction of high efficiency, intensification, precision and intelligence. As an important branch of modern computer science, AI plays an increasingly high role in the development of modern agriculture. The research and development of intelligent robots based on AI technology is becoming more and more mature, and the application fields are becoming more and more extensive. Under this background, this paper analyzes the development of intelligent robots in the field of agricultural automation and its main applications.

A Multifunctional Flexible Tactile Sensor Based on Resistive Effect for Simultaneous Sensing of Pressure and Temperature.

Flexible tactile sensors with multifunctional sensing functions have attracted much attention due to their wide applications in artificial limbs, intelligent robots, human-machine interfaces, and health monitoring devices. Here, a multifunctional flexible tactile sensor based on resistive effect for simultaneous sensing of pressure and temperature is reported. The sensor features a simple design with patterned metal film on a soft substrate with cavities and protrusions. The decoupling of pressure and temperature sensing is achieved by the reasonable arrangement of metal layers in the patterned metal film. Systematically experimental and numerical studies are carried out to reveal the multifunctional sensing mechanism and show that the proposed sensor exhibits good linearity, fast response, high stability, good mechanical flexibility, and good microfabrication compatibility. Demonstrations of the multifunctional flexible tactile sensor to monitor touch, breathing, pulse and objects grabbing/releasing in various application scenarios involving coupled temperature/pressure stimuli illustrate its excellent capability of measuring pressure and temperature simultaneously. These results offer an effective tool for multifunctional sensing of pressure and temperature and create engineering opportunities for applications of wearable health monitoring and human-machine interfaces.

Vision-based robotics using open FPGAs

Robotics increasingly provides practical applications for society, such as manufacturing, autonomous driving, robot vacuum cleaners, robots in logistics, drones for inspection, etc. Typical requirements in this field are fast response time, low power consumption, parallelism, and flexibility. According to these features, FPGAs are a suitable computing substrate for robots. A few vendors have dominated the FPGA market with their proprietary tools and hardware devices, resulting in fragmented ecosystems with few standards and little interoperation. New and complete open toolchains for FPGAs are emerging from the open-source community. This article presents an open-source library of Verilog modules useful for vision-based robots, including reusable image processing blocks for perception and reactive control blocks. This library has been developed using open tools, but its Verilog modules are fully compatible with any proprietary toolchain. In addition, three applications with a real robot and open FPGAs have been developed for experimental validation using this library. In the last application, the mobile robot successfully follows a colored object using two low-cost cameras (to increase the robot’s field of view) and includes a third camera on top of a servo-driven turret for tracking a second independent object while following the first one in parallel. Resource consumption of all applications has been measured and compared with state-of-the-art proprietary toolchains, revealing that reconfigurable computing with open FPGAs using open tools is now an attractive alternative to designing and creating intelligent vision-based robotic applications using vendor-dependent proprietary tools and FPGAs.

Highly-sensitive expandable microsphere-based flexible pressure sensor for human–machine interaction

Flexible microstructural pressure sensors (FMPSs) have been widely used in different areas including health monitoring, human–machine interaction and electronic skin for their good reliability, easy fabrication, and highly sensitive sensing performance. Although the use of a sensing layer with microstructure improves the sensor sensitivity, it also results in limited sensitive pressure range, slow response and poor cyclic stability, which prevents the sensors from being utilized in applications requiring wide detect range, real-time response and high durability. Here, we propose an advanced micro-structured sensing layer through doping thermally expandable microspheres into the screen-printing carbon black slurry to enhance its mechanical properties. An FMPS is then developed based on this enhanced micro-structured sensing layer. Benefiting from the expanded microsphere-like microstructure, the as-prepared sensor features high sensitivity (37.16 kPa−1), fast response/recovery time (126/52 ms), and good mechanical stability (over 3000 cycles). In addition, a home-made and effective collision avoidance system consisting of a robotic arm, the pressure sensor, a MEGA2560 microcontroller unit and a computer is constructed to indicate the sensor’s outstanding tactile perception characteristic, making it a promising candidate for intelligent robotic applications such as human–robot collaboration. Furthermore, we develop a pressure sensor array and demonstrate its ability to spatial pressure distribution perception. The developed microsphere-based pressure sensor and its array show great potential to be adopted in various monitoring and interactive applications such as humanoid robots, smart home, human–machine interaction, etc.

A stretchable all-nanofiber iontronic pressure sensor

Flexible pressure sensors with high stretchability, sensitivity, and stability are undoubtedly urgently required for potential applications in intelligent soft robots, human-machine interaction, health monitoring, and other fields. However, most current flexible pressure sensors are unable to endure large deformation and are prone to performance degradation or even failure during frequent operation due to their multilayered structures. Here, we propose a stretchable all-nanofiber iontronic pressure sensor that is composed of ionic nanofiber membranes used as dielectric layers and liquid metal used as electrodes. This sensor exhibits a high sensitivity of 1.08 kPa-1 over a wide range of 0-300 kPa, with a fast response-relaxation time of about 18/22 ms and excellent stability. The high sensitivity comes from the electric double layer formed at the ionic film/electrode interface, while high stretchability and stability are enabled by in-situ encapsulated all-nanofiber structures. As a proof of concept, a prototype sensor array is integrated into a soft pneumatic gripper, demonstrating its capability of pressure perception and object recognition during the grasping process. Thus, the scheme provides another excellent strategy to fabricate stretchable pressure sensors with superb performance in terms of high stretchability, sensitivity, and stability.

Analysis and application research of mobile robot navigation related technologies

With social progress and technological development, mobile robots have played an important role in industries, medical care, safety, home and other fields due to their advantages of saving labor costs, reducing personnel work intensity, and avoiding potential job hazards. Especially in indoor environments, such as industrial indoor operations, warehousing and logistics distribution, indoor safety patrols, and other application scenarios, mobile robots have highlighted inestimable application value. Intelligent mobile robot is an important tool in the field of service and automation, and robot navigation technology is an important technology for intelligent mobile robot to achieve self-positioning, robot mapping and path planning. This paper expounds three technologies of mobile robot navigation mapping: visual mapping and positioning, lidar mapping and positioning, and sensor fusion mapping and positioning. After that, the method of path planning of the mobile robot is analyzed. Finally, the application of intelligent mobile robots in factory automation and supermarket guidance is pointed out, and the development trend of intelligent mobile robots is prospected.

Clinical application of a fully automated blood collection robot and its assessment of blood collection quality of anticoagulant specimens.

To investigate the application of intelligent puncture blood collection robots in anticoagulated blood specimens, the satisfaction of subjects with the two blood collection methods, and the feasibility of intelligent blood collection devices to replace manual blood collection methods in clinical work. A total of 154 volunteers from Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University were recruited to compare the test results of anticoagulant blood samples between blood collection robot and manual blood collection, a questionnaire was used to inquire about the volunteers' feelings about the two blood collection methods; the blood collection data of 6,255 patients willing to use the robot for blood collection were collected to analyze the success rate of blood collection. The blood collection robot is superior to manual specimen collection in terms of volume and pain of specimen collection, and the puncture success rate is 94.3%. The anticoagulated blood specimens collected by the robot had 11 indexes statistically different from the results of manual blood collection, but the differences did not affect the clinical diagnosis and prognosis. The intelligent robotic blood collection is less painful and has better acceptance by patients, which can be used for clinical anticoagulated blood specimen collection.

Stretchable porous conductive hydrogel films prepared by emulsion template method as flexible sensors

Conductive hydrogels with stretchability, breathability and long-term stability have attracted increasing attention for the applications in interactive wearable devices, artificial prosthetics, and intelligent robots. In this paper, a stretchable (up to 254 %), well breathable (vapor transmission up to 1.231×10−2 g·cm−2·h−1), and stable conductive (1.21 S/m) hydrogel films (Gel/PPy/Ag) was prepared by gel-template immersion method using gelatin as gel networks, polypyrrole (PPy) and silver (Ag) as conductive reinforcing filler and Span 80 as emulsion template. The film could maintain flexibility and conductivity after stored in an environment of –20 °C or 25 °C for 20 days. The excellent frost resistance and water retention ensured the practical application of the porous organic hydrogel film with environmental adaptability and long-term stability. The strain sensor made from the Gel/PPy/Ag films presented excellent sensitivity (GF reached 2.034), good durability, fast response (0.34 s) and recovery ability (0.36 s). It monitored weak and vigorous human motions effectively and sensitively. The Gel/PPy/Ag flexible electrodes realized the real-time sensitive detection of human Electrocardiogram (ECG) and electromyogram (EMG) signals and precision sensing control of the manipulator arm. The Gel/PPy/Ag hydrogel and the prepared flexible electronic devices have broad application prospects in the field of health monitoring, motion monitoring, operation control and other soft electronic devices.
