Application of Nanoparticles in Diagnosis and Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer.

Objective In order to study the application of nanoparticles in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer, we retrospectively analyzed pancreatic cancer patients after operation. Method 60 cases of pancreatic cancer and surgical treatment were selected from our hospital. The time ranged from March 2018 to March 2019. The age ranged from 27 to 81 years. There were 36 males and 24 females, with an average age of 46.23 (7.63) years. Among them, the observation group consisted of nanotube artificial tubes, 16 males and 14 females, while the control group adopted nylon tube, male 18 and female 12. The patient was diagnosed by abdominal CT, and the patient's demographic data and basic clinical data were recorded at the same time. Result In this study, 60 patients were divided into groups and compared. The patients underwent surgical resection of pancreaticoduodenum and reconstruction of pancreaticoduodenal papillary duct. Among them, the observation group used nanocomposite artificial tube, while the observation group used nanocomposite artificial tube and placed drainage tube to drain the peritoneal effusion to prevent the effusion from forming in abdominal hypertension and infection. The amount of postoperative bleeding, operation time, and postoperative concomitant symptoms were observed, and the differences between the two materials were analyzed. Conclusion The reconstruction of pancreaticoduodenal papillary duct with nanomaterials has certain advantages for postoperative recovery, reduces postoperative complications, reduces the probability of infection, and improves the therapeutic effect.

The Application of Nanoparticles in Diagnosis and Treatment of Kidney Diseases.

Nanomedicine is currently showing great promise for new methods of diagnosing and treating many diseases, particularly in kidney disease and transplantation. The unique properties of nanoparticles arise from the diversity of size effects, used to design targeted nanoparticles for specific cells or tissues, taking renal clearance and tubular secretion mechanisms into account. The design of surface particles on nanoparticles offers a wide range of possibilities, among which antibodies play an important role. Nanoparticles find applications in encapsulated drug delivery systems containing immunosuppressants and other drugs, in imaging, gene therapies and many other branches of medicine. They have the potential to revolutionize kidney transplantation by reducing and preventing ischemia–reperfusion injury, more efficiently delivering drugs to the graft site while avoiding systemic effects, accurately localizing and visualising the diseased site and enabling continuous monitoring of graft function. So far, there are known nanoparticles with no toxic effects on human tissue, although further studies are still needed to confirm their safety.

Sonographic Detection of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Employing Shear Waves

Abstract Research in biomedical nanotechnology led already to a variety of applications of nanoparticles in diagnosis as well as in therapy. One of these medical applications is Magnetic Drug Targeting, a promising cancer treatment technique. The aim of this medical attendance is a local chemotherapeutic treatment of the cancerous tissue. For this purpose, chemotherapeutic drugs are bound to magnetic nanoparticles and accumulated in the tumor area by means of an external static magnetic field. Hereby, a well-defined particle concentration in the cancerous tissue requires monitoring of the particle accumulation. Therefore, we present an ultrasound imaging technique that is capable of detecting quantitatively the concentration of iron oxide nanoparticles in biological tissue. The evaluation is based on the variation of the speed of sound of an induced shear wave with respect to the particle concentration.

The application of nanoparticles in diagnosis and theranostics of gastric cancer

Gastric cancer is the fourth most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer related death worldwide. For the diagnosis of gastric cancer, apart from regular systemic imaging, the locoregional imaging is also of great importance. Moreover, there are still other ways for the detecting of gastric cancer, including the early detection of gastric cancer by endoscopy, the detection of gastric-cancer related biomarkers and the detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of gastric cancer. However, conventional diagnostic methods are usually lack of specificity and sensitivity. Nanoparticles provide many benefits in the diagnosis of gastric cancer. Besides, nanoparticles are capable of integrating the functions of diagnosis and treatment together (theranostics). In this paper, we reviewed the applications of nanoparticles in diagnosis and theranostics of gastric cancer in the above mentioned aspects.

Application of Indocyanine Green Nanoparticles in Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer

Indocyanine green(ICG) is a conventional near-infrared(NIR) dye that can be used in clinical fluorescence imaging, and it is also an effective light absorber for laser-mediated photothermal or photodynamic therapy. However, the ICG is still limited by its unstable properties in aqueous media and quick clearance from the body. The ICG-loaded nanoparticle has provided the versatile assembly tools for further development and application of the ICG. Herein, we review the application of ICG nanoparticles in NIR diagnosis and photothermal/photodynamic therapy of cancer.
