The processing of verbal memories after traumatic brain injury

Objective: Memory dysfunction is a persistent cognitive symptom following traumatic brain injury (TBI), negatively impacting capacity for independent living and productivity. Traditional scoring of neuropsychological memory tests does not allow for differentiation of specific impairments of encoding, consolidation and/or retrieval, or the potential impact of strategy deficits. Method: The current study examined performance of 142 moderate-to-severe TBI participants and 68 demographically matched healthy controls on the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT) using Item Specific Data Analysis (ISDA) and strategy use analyses. Results: Results revealed significantly greater impairments in encoding, consolidation, and retrieval in TBI participants, compared to controls. Encoding deficits significantly explained the most variance in the long-delayed recall of TBI participants, followed by consolidation, and then retrieval. Participants with TBI showed a reduced ability to spontaneously apply strategies during learning, evident in decreased subjective clusters and increased word omissions, compared to controls. No difference was found between groups in passive learning strategy application, shown through serial clustering. Spontaneous strategy measures both uniquely accounted for variance in the encoding ability of TBI participants. Conclusions: These findings highlight the potential value in using ISDA and strategy use measures to assess RAVLT results to better characterize individual memory profiles and inform rehabilitative interventions.

The disruptive potential of importance-performance eduruption and transforming consumerism in single-used plastic reduction initiatives

In an era demanding sustainable consumption, the challenge of single-used plastic (SUP) remains significant. This study delves into the transformative capacity of the Importance-Performance Eduruption method to reshape consumerism and encourage SUP reduction. Drawing on binary choice models, we elucidated the determinants influencing students' willingness to participate in SUP reduction initiatives. Beyond the quantitative metrics, the study highlighted the deep-seated influence of educational methods. Applied learning strategies like Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning emerged as influential touchpoints, aligning students with sustainable habits. Simultaneously, the importance-performance analysis revealed areas needing immediate intervention, notably research-oriented methods. Our findings spotlight the influential role education plays in driving sustainable consumer behavior. By integrating importance-performance insights into curriculum planning and broader policy frameworks, stakeholders can more effectively harness the disruptive potential of education to further the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 12 and create a more sustainable future.

Analysis of the Relationship between Attitude, Learning Motivation, and Learning Strategies with Academic Performance of Grade 9 Junior High School Students in Banten Province

This study aims to analyze the influence of attitudes, motivations and learning strategies on the academic achievement of 8th grade students in the Serang District, Tangerang District and Pandeglang District. The study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method involving samples of eighth grade students from several schools in the three districts. Data collected through questionnaires that evaluate attitude variables, motivation, learning strategy and academic achievement. Results of data analysis using descriptive statistical techniques and double regression analysis showed a significant positive influence of attitudes, motivations and learning strategies on academic performance of 8th grade students. Implications of these findings suggest that applying learning strategies that address these aspects can improve students' academic achievement. Therefore, it is recommended that schools and teachers pay more attention and develop these factors in order to improve the quality of education in the region. This research can be a basis for further research in an effort to improve the quality of education at the level of SMEs, especially in Serang District, Tangerang District and Pandeglang District.

Learning Strategies: A Resource for Clinical Neuropsychopedagogical Intervention

Learning strategies can be understood as deliberate processes aimed at achieving a certain level of learning effectively. The objective is to explore the application of learning strategies as a tool in neuropsychopedagogical intervention within a clinical setting, particularly in the context of teaching or stimulating brain functions where the patient can contemplate their own mental processes. Our aim is to present an intervention that enhances learning opportunities, thus broadening cognitive assumptions. This research contributes knowledge about cognitive and metacognitive processes related to learning strategies within the framework of learning how to learn, suggesting that the Neuropsychopedagogue, informed by neuroscience, selects appropriate stimuli to facilitate learning and evaluates the effectiveness of this process. The majority of studies focused on Neuropsychopedagogy and specific functions such as attention, memory, and executive functions. Another notable observation was the lack of studies utilizing or developing an instrument to assess learning strategies in a clinical-individual context, with the emphasis primarily on studies within an institutional-collective context. Hence, it can be concluded that learning strategies hold promise for enhancing learning and aiding in the organization and utilization of various information from our environment, thereby justifying their classification as a tool for clinical neuropsychopedagogical intervention. This comprehensive understanding underscores the significance of integrating diverse strategies into clinical practice, ensuring tailored interventions that address individual learning needs effectively.

Technology-Supported Guidance Models to Stimulate Nursing Students' Self-Efficacy in Clinical Practice: Scoping Review.

In nursing education, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills is crucial for developing competence in clinical practice. Nursing students encounter challenges in acquiring these essential skills, making self-efficacy a critical component in their professional development. Self-efficacy pertains to individual's belief in their ability to perform tasks and overcome challenges, with significant implications for clinical skills acquisition and academic success. Previous research has underscored the strong link between nursing students' self-efficacy and their clinical competence. Technology has emerged as a promising tool to enhance self-efficacy by enabling personalized learning experiences and in-depth discussions. However, there is a need for a comprehensive literature review to assess the existing body of knowledge and identify research gaps. The aim of this study is to systematically map and identify gaps in published studies on the use of technology-supported guidance models to stimulate nursing students' self-efficacy in clinical practice. This scoping review followed the framework of Arksey and O'Malley and was reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). A systematic, comprehensive literature search was conducted in ERIC, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, and Web of Science for studies published between January 2011 and April 2023. The reference lists of the included papers were manually searched to identify additional studies. Pairs of authors screened the papers, assessed eligibility, and extracted the data. The data were thematically organized. A total of 8 studies were included and four thematic groups were identified: (1) technological solutions for learning support, (2) learning focus in clinical practice, (3) teaching strategies and theoretical approaches for self-efficacy, and (4) assessment of self-efficacy and complementary outcomes. Various technological solutions were adopted in the guidance models to stimulate the self-efficacy of nursing students in clinical practice, leading to positive findings. A total of 7 out of 8 studies presented results that were not statistically significant, highlighting the need for further refinement of the applied interventions. Nurse educators play a pivotal role in applying learning strategies and theoretical approaches to enhance nursing students' self-efficacy, but the contributions of nurse preceptors and peers should not be overlooked. Future studies should consider involving users in the intervention process and using validated instruments tailored to the studies' intervention objectives, ensuring relevance and enabling comparisons across studies.

Penerapan Strategi Pembelajaran Peningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir (SPPKB) Peserta Didik untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Matematika pada Materi Trigonometri di Kelas X-1 SMA Negeri 1 Hibala TP.2022/2023

The aim of this research is to determine the improvement in mathematics learning outcomes in Trigonometry material through the application of learning strategies to improve thinking skills (SPPKB) for students in Class X of SMA Negeri 1 Hibala. This research was conducted in Class X of SMA Negeri 1 Hibala, with a collaborative class action research design. This classroom action research is carried out in the form of an iterative cycle in which there are four main stages of activity, namely planning, action, observation and reflection, and so on until the expected improvements or improvements are achieved. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the application of learning strategies to improve students' thinking skills (SPPKB) can improve the mathematics learning outcomes of students in Class X of SMA Negeri 1 Hibala. Improved student learning outcomes can be seen from the test results at the end of each meeting. The results of this research prove that there is an increase in student learning outcomes as follows. In cycle I, meeting-1, there was an increase, namely from the average score before the action of 65.37, in other words, the percentage of students' learning completeness was 37.50% to 70.12 or the percentage of students' learning completeness was 40.50%; then at meeting 2 it increased to 75.25 or the percentage of students' learning completeness was 67.50%. In cycle II, meeting-1, there was still an increase from the average value of cycle I, meeting-2, namely from 75.25 to 77.00 or the percentage of students' learning completeness, which was 75%, then at meeting-2 the average value of the class increased to 81.12, in other words, the percentage of students' mathematics learning completeness is 82.50%.

The Development of Learning Strategy in Reading Comprehension for Children with Hearing Impairment in Grade 4 SDLB

This research is motivated by the low understanding of children with hearing impairments in reading comprehension. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop strategies for teaching reading comprehension for children with hearing impairments. The method used in Mix Methods. Stages of research conducted in the hierarchy, meaning that the first stages of research will affect the research stage further in order to achieve the research objectives. The results showed that the application of learning strategy in reading comprehension has been developed effectively applied to children with hearing impairment at SLB Prima Bakti Mulya in grade 4-B, the academic year of 2015/2016. Training on Selecting Interesting Storytelling Teaching Materials as Learning Media for Kindergarten/RA Ma'arif Candran Yogyakarta Children

One of the benefits of listening to stories for children is to stimulate children's creativity, especially verbal creativity. Children's creativity can be developed through listening to stories. The purpose of this study was to provide training and assistance, motivation, creation, and innovation for RA Maarif Candran Kindergarten teachers in selecting medongeng teaching materials as interesting learning media for kindergarten children. The method used in this research is training, mentoring, implementation and evaluation. The results of the training showed an increase in children's creativity, motivation and character in learning in the classroom as seen from the pre-test average of 10.45 with an indication of moderate children and a post-test average of 17.02 with an increase in children's creativity, motivation and character. After participating in the training activities, the level of teacher understanding increased as seen from the results of observations which showed that 85.05% of teachers were able to design, select, process, modify various kinds of media, both picture objects, or teaching aids to be used as interesting topics in compiling storytelling teaching materials. The teacher is able to apply learning strategies by selecting teaching materials according to the child's character, interests, and social background. Thus the selection of teaching materials will be in accordance with the school's expectations in improving the quality of learning in schools, especially in TK RA Maarif Candran Yogyakarta. By selecting appropriate and interesting teaching materials, it can assist the government in implementing the independent learning curriculum.

This study discusses teacher strategies for learning Islamic religious education in children with special needs (case studies in SMPLB Negeri Cerme). This study aims to find out the teacher's strategy for learning Islamic religious education in mentally retarded children in Cerme State Middle School and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of Islamic Religious Education Learning Strategies in Tabenagrahita Children in Cerme State Middle School. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation methods. Data analysis techniques using Milles and Huberman theories, namely data reduction, data presentation, data validity, and drawing conclusions, The results of this study indicate that the strategy implemented by Islamic Religious Education teachers in Cerme State Middle School for children with Tabenagrahita is a discovery learning strategy. Learning with Discovery Learning strategies is centered on students and educators only as a companion and helps students if they find difficulties during the learning process. Discovery learning strategies make students active learners because educators provide the opportunity to ask questions, argue, and find their own answers to a problem. As seen in the learning steps of discovery learning that have been carried out by educators in the learning process, which starts with stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization, Of course, in the application of learning strategies, there are supporting and inhibiting factors, as follows: supporting factors, interests, and motivation of educators, as well as the communication of teachers and parents of students. Inhibiting factors, concentration of learning, obstructing language development, the condition of mental retardation, children who are easy to forget, and educators are not graduates of extraordinary education.

Analysis of Student Statistical literacy Using Test Questions integrated with Indonesian Education Issues as a form of Contextual approach

This study aims to analyze the ability of SL using statistical literacy ability test questions integrated with Indonesian education issues through a quantitative descriptive research approach to 116 students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah University Muara Bungo. The results showed that students were still low in Statistical Literacy skills. These results can be seen from 75% of students who scored below 60 and 25% of students who scored above 60 on the Statistical Literacy ability test. Then, it can be seen from the average ability of students to solve SL test questions based on Indicators, namely 71.33% in indicator 1, 53.16% in indicator 2, and 57.18% in indicator 3. At the same time, the average student who is able to solve SL questions is 28.67% in indicator 1, 46.84% in indicator 2, and 42.82% in indicator 3. Based on in-depth interviews, researchers see the main factor in the low SL ability of students being that they have not mastered descriptive statistics. The main factor that helps students solve SL questions is the Indonesian Education Issue approach. Researcher suggest that further research needs to be done that can improve students' SL skills through the application of learning models, the development of learning models, or the application of learning strategies to solve SL problems.

Learning media has a very important role in the educational process. The problem of learning media in Social Sciences (IPS) subjects is that it is less varied. STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION TOWARDS THE ROLE OF ICE BREAKING ACTIVITIES IN LEARNING ENGLISH AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

One of many factors that can influence students' feelings while learning English is a teacher's method or style of instruction that is not precise or monotonous. A fun and attractive learning environment can help students focus better and become more motivated to learn. Applying learning strategies suitable to students' conditions is one solution for increasing students'' motivation. For instance, the "ice-breaking" activity. Moreover, this research uses a qualitative approach to achieve the purposes of the research. The participants of this study were 30 students in a particular Islamic senior high school in Sidoarjo. This study used questionnaire, interview, and observation as research instruments. The study's findings indicate that students have a positive perception towards the role of ice breaking activities in learning English at senior high school. Ice-breaking is an effective strategy for increasing student motivation. Moreover, it has the potential to encourage students to learn. So that the classroom atmosphere becomes enjoyable and students' understanding of the subject matter improves.

What learning strategies influence higher-order learning behaviours of medical students?

Aims The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between the application of learning strategies and the emergence of higher-order learning behaviours among medical students in Chinese provincial undergraduate colleges, while also examining the impact of social demographic variables on the development of higher-order learning behaviours and learning strategy preferences. Methodology We conducted a relevant cross-sectional study using the Chinese College Student Survey (CCSS) online questionnaire to evaluate higher-order learning behaviours and learning strategies in medical undergraduate students attending provincial colleges in China. A total of 992 valid questionnaires were collected and analysed using SPSS 22.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL). We performed statistical analysis using one-sample t-tests to compare the results with the national norm score for medical subjects in undergraduate colleges. We also conducted variance analysis and regression analysis. Results The study found that the average scores for higher-order learning behaviours, enquiry-based learning and receptive learning behaviour among medical undergraduate students in provincial colleges were higher than the national norm score for medical subjects, indicating a positive trend. However, the average scores for other indicators were lower than the national norm score. The utilization of learning strategies and the development of higher-order learning behaviours among students were affected by various factors such as grade and gender. The study suggests that the preference for certain learning strategies, such as enquiry-based, receptive, integrative and collaborative, can have a significant impact on the emergence of higher-order learning behaviours. Conclusions The study has demonstrated a positive correlation between the utilization of learning strategies and the development of higher-order learning behaviours. This relationship has been observed in medical students attending provincial undergraduate colleges, where the adoption of enquiry-based, receptive, integrative and collaborative learning strategies has been found to significantly influence the emergence of higher-order learning behaviours. KEY MESSAGES The implementation of learning strategies among medical students in provincial undergraduate colleges in China has a significant impact on high-level learning behaviours. The impact of high-level learning behaviours is reliant on comprehensive support from four distinct learning strategies: receptive learning, inquiry-based learning, comprehensive learning and collaborative learning. One of the most impactful learning strategies is receptive learning, particularly on high-order learning behaviours. On the other hand, reflective learning does not seem to have a significant effect. Changes in grades can significantly impact higher-order learning behaviours and affect the propensity for reflective and collaborative learning strategies. Females generally exhibit a greater preference for receptive learning strategies, while males tend to exhibit a greater preference for inquiry-based learning strategies

Competence in (meta-)cognitive learning strategies during help-seeking to overcome knowledge-related difficulties

Individual learning strategies evoke (meta-)cognitive processes that enable effective goal-directed learning. Peer-directed academic help-seeking may provide new information, but related interaction processes are challenging. Applying learning strategies during help-seeking may enhance academic success. Competence in using social resources requires conditional knowledge about which strategy fits best for achieving a pursued goal. In this paper, a Situational Judgment Instrument to assess this competence and empirical data regarding the instrument’s subscales are presented. A first study with 38 undergraduates showed that organization and rehearsal were the easiest to identify correctly. Elaboration, evaluation, and argumentation on the other hand were more difficult to distinguish. In a second study with 120 first-semester students a hypothesized moderating effect of the competence on the link between help-seeking and academic success was not found. However, competence degree showed to be positively associated with students’ satisfaction but not with academic achievement. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

Penerapan Strategi Pembelajaran Pada Mata Pelajaran Akidah Akhlak Di MtsS Miftahul Huda Desa Silikuan Hulu Kecamatan Ukui Kabupaten Pelalawan

Learning strategies can be interpreted as an outline of a course or general patterns of activities carried out by an educator and students in the embodiment of teaching and learning activities to achieve the goals outlined. There are several problems found by researchers in research locations, especially in the learning process of Akidah Akhlak at MTsS Miftahul Huda Silikuan Hulu Village, Ukui District, namely, students are not able to directly absorb the material presented by the teacher, lack of enthusiasm of students in class when learning Akidah Akhlak which causes some students to not care about the material presented by the teacher, and the teacher's lack of understanding of the application of learning strategies which can be seen from the learning process the teacher only uses monotonous learning strategies so that it does not increase the learning enthusiasm of students in the classroom. This research includes qualitative research, the data collected is in the form of words and pictures, in this case it is explaining how teachers use learning strategies. Researchers collected data through interviews, documentation, and field notes. Data were analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. Techniques for guaranteeing the validity of the data are source triangulation, technical triangulation, and time triangulation. Based on the results of the research that the researchers conducted, it can be concluded that: (1) The strategies used by the aqidah moral teachers in class VIII semester 2 of MTsS Miftahul Huda Siliuan Hulu Village, Ukui District, namely problem-based strategies, discovery learning strategies, and cooperative learning strategies (2) Steps -Steps for implementing learning strategies in the subject of Aqidah Akhlak a. Opening learning activities, b. Explain the competence to be achieved, c. Educators help students define organizing tasks. d. Educators and students arrange tasks together. e. Students collect information according to the problem being discussed. f. Educators supervise the course of learning activities g. The teacher gives an explanation of the material. (3) Obstacles faced in implementing the implementation of the learning strategy of aqidah morals at MTsS Miftahul Huda Silikuan Hulu Village, namely the lack of teacher preparation in implementing learning, for the learning process to be carried out suddenly.

Application of Think Explain Apply Learning Strategies to Elementary Age Students

We often encounter learning in children by playing, when carrying out the learning process, the teacher always uses learning strategies in the classroom. The learning strategy is the method chosen by the teacher in the learning process which can provide convenience and facilities for students towards achieving learning goals. In this study, researchers used the Think-Explain-Apply learning strategy. Think means to think, Explain means to explain, and Apply means to apply. This type of research is a qualitative research. Qualitative research is research that involves verbal data and is analyzed inductively in the form of narratives, schemes and pictures. This research was conducted at the MIS Maura El-Mumtaz school on Saturday, March 4 2023. The object of this research was the implementation of learning using the Think-Explain-Apply method for fifth grade students. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, documentation, and interview. Observations made by observing events, motion, and processes during learning takes place. As for the results of research regarding the application of this strategy to fifth grade students, namely being able to train and improve children's thinking skills and be able to solve problems according to their abilities.

Application of Learning Strategies and Emotional Intelligence on Learning Outcomes of Music Art Students of Tebing Tinggi Public 2 Senior High School

This study aims to compare students ’art learning outcomes through the application of accelerated learning strategies with expository learning strategies, emotional relationship intelligence with students’ learning outcomes of music art. This research is an experiment (experiment) and treatment (treatment). The study population was all students of SMA Negeri 2 and 3 Tebing Tinggi. The sample was determined by cluster random sampling technique. This study used a quasi-experimental research method. The results of the study are differences in the learning outcomes of students who learn with accelerated learning strategies both in groups of students who have high emotional intelligence and students who have low emotional intelligence. Higher learning outcomes for students who are taught the art of music with accelerated learning strategies from the expository. The high emotional intelligence learning outcomes taught with accelerated learning strategies were better than students who studied expository learning, while the learning outcomes of students who had low emotional intelligence who were taught with accelerated learning strategies were better than students taught expository learning strategies. These results indicate that the acceleration learning strategy is more effectively applied in students’ learning of the art of music in order to improve learning outcomes of high emotional intelligence.

Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Siswa Menggunakan Strategi Pembelajaran Berbasis Multiple Intelligence (Kecerdasan Majemuk) pada Mata Pelajaran Tematik Sekolah Dasar

As a teacher, you are constantly required to master the following things, understand and formulate learning objectives, understand the learning process, understand how to deliver lessons to students, be able to choose learning aids and media, be able to understand and provide services to individual differences of students, able to provide guidance to students, able to compile and use evaluation tools Each student has differences between individuals with one another. So on the basis of understanding the condition of students, the application of learning strategies must be able to provide opportunities for students to develop the potential that exists within themselves. The teacher as an educator who plays a role in the ongoing learning process has a responsibility in determining learning strategies. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 023 Belantaraya with 15 students. This type of research is classroom action research. After learning by using learning strategies based on multiple intelligences in cycle 1 and cycle 2, student learning outcomes have increased with the following results the completeness of student learning outcomes is 46.67% of students complete and 53.33% not complete then there is an increase in students who complete in student learning outcomes after applying multiple intelligence-based strategies with 93.33% of students completing learning and 6.67% of students not being complete in learning outcomes.
