Applications of intuitionistic fuzzy sets to assessment, decision making and to topological spaces

The intuitionistic fuzzy sets, in which the elements of the universe have their membership and non-membership degrees in [0, 1], are a generalization of Zadeh’s fuzzy set. In this paper, intuitionistic fuzzy sets are used as tools for assessment and decision-making. This is useful in cases where one is not sure about the suitability of the linguistic characterizations assigned to each element of the universal set. Further, it is described how the notions of convergence, continuity, compactness, and of Hausdorff topological space are extended to intuitionistic fuzzy topological spaces. Applications illustrating our results are also presented.

Site selection of crop straw cogeneration project under intuitionistic fuzzy environment: A four-stage decision framework from the perspective of circular economy

Due to the energy shortage and environmental pollution, the development and utilization of biomass energy has aroused increasing attention all over the world. The crop straw cogeneration (CSC) of heat and power is an efficient renewable energy utilization technology in rural area, which is a practical solution to energy saving and pollution control. Circular economy, characterized by resource conservation, recycling and environment harmony, greatly enriches the connotation of energy projects, which is of guidance implications for the development of CSC. In this paper, the CSC project site selection is conducted under the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework from the perspective of circular economy. A complete criteria system considering the sustainability indicators is established to reflect the characteristics of CSC projects for the first time. Furthermore, due to the complexity and the lack of ready-made experience in the CSC site selection, the intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) are improved and applied by creating a novel IFSs distance formula to provide clear expression for the hesitation degrees of the experts. Finally, taking Changchun City, Jilin Province as an example, the improved TOmada de Decisao Interativa Multicriterio (TODIM) method is applied to obtain the optimal location. A2 (Nongan) is the best choice among the four given alternatives, and comparative analysis shows that the improved TODIM method is better than the other methods. This study improves the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets in site selection of energy projects and brings new insight for the decision-making from the perspective from circular economy.

A novel approach for ranking intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and its application to decision making

Ranking intuitionistic fuzzy numbers is an important issue in the practical application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Many scholars rank intuitionistic fuzzy numbers by defining different measures. These measures do not comprehensively consider the fuzzy semantics expressed by membership degree, nonmembership degree, and hesitancy degree. As a result, the ranking results are often counterintuitive, such as the indifference problems, the non-robustness problems, etc. In this paper, according to geometrical representation, a novel measure for intuitionistic fuzzy numbers is defined, which is called the ideal measure. After that, a new ranking approach is proposed. It’s proved that the ideal measure satisfies the properties of weak admissibility, membership degree robustness, nonmembership degree robustness, and determinism. A numerical example is applied to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of this method. Finally, using the presented approach, the optimal alternative can be acquired in multi-attribute decision-making problems. Comparison analysis shows that the ideal measure is more effective and simple than other existing methods.

Application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets in determining the major in senior high school

Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set (IFS) is useful to construct a model with elaborate uncertainty and ambiguity involved in decision-making. In this paper, the concept relation and operation of intuitionistic fuzzy set and the application in major of senior high school determination using the normalized Euclidean distance method will be reviewed. Some theorem of relation and operation of intuitionistic fuzzy set are proved. In general, to prove the theorem the definition and some basic relation and operation laws of IFS are needed. The distance measure between IFS indicates the difference in grade between the information carried by IFS. There are science, social, and language majors in senior high school. The normalized Euclidean distance method is used to measure the distance between each student and each major. The major, which each student can choose, has been determined depending on test evaluations. The solution provided is the smallest distance between each student and each major using the normalized Euclidean distance method.

Application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets to environmental management

Environmental management is a decision making problem with a great deal of uncertainties. Intuitionistic fuzzy sets provide a model to elaborate these uncertainties and vagueness involve in decision making. This paper, proposes an application of intuitionistic fuzzy set to environmental management in order to determine the type of erosion(s) affecting some towns for an effective control measure that has to be taken using a distance function. In order to achieve this, a set of erosions and their causes are assumed, and also we assume a survey for the set of towns to determine the type of erosion approaching them for an effective control measure to be taken.

Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set and Its Application in Corona Covid-19

Intuitionistic Fuzzy set (IFS) theory plays an important role in real life and engineering problems. There are many model involving fuzzy matrices to deal with different complicated aspects. Intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) is useful in providing a flexible model for developing the uncertainty and vagueness involved in making decisions where the theories of uncertainty are very useful to treat with mathematics that needs to address. In other words, the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets instead of fuzzy sets means the introduction of another degree of freedom into a set description. Intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) called the generalization of fuzzy sets was proposed in K. T. Atanassov. So, we can use it in decision making. We examined the definition of IFS and puts new definitions of IFS (Intuitionistic fuzzy set) in this paper and suggested its implementation in the Corona Covid-19. For several similar real-life cases the suggested approach can be applied.

Some applications of intuitionistic fuzzy sets using new similarity measure

Intuitionistic fuzzy set proposed by Atanassov, have gained attention from researchers for their applications in various fields. It is very useful in providing a flexible model to elaborate uncertainty and vagueness involved in decision making. In this paper, firstly some existing measures of distance and similarity are reviewed. We proposed its application in real life situations such as in diagnostic medicine and pattern recognition using new similarity measure. Moreover it is demonstrated that the proposed new similarity measure is capable of discriminating difference between patterns.

Time series prediction based on intuitionistic fuzzy cognitive map

Time series exist widely in either nature or society such that the research on analysis of time series has great significance. However, considering the nonlinearity and uncertainty, the prediction of time series is still an open problem. In this paper, by means of the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory, we proposed a novel time series prediction scheme based on intuitionistic fuzzy cognitive map. In the previous research, intuitionistic fuzzy cognitive map, as a kind of knowledge-based modeling tool, is mainly used in decision-making field, where concept structure and weight matrix are usually obtained from experience of experts. To tackle with the diversity of time series, the proposed algorithm constructs the conceptual structure of cognitive map and weight matrix directly from raw sequential data, which effectively enlarges the application range by reducing human participation. Moreover, in order to appropriately calculate the hesitation degree, which is the key role for the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, we propose a real-time adjustable hesitation degree calculation scheme. By using this proposed method, hesitation degree can be adaptively adjusted by combining Femi formula with dynamic membership degree. A number of experiments are implemented to reveal feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed schemes.

Application of the Intuitionistic Fuzzy Logic in Education

In this paper, we have proposed an application of intuitionistic fuzzy set in high school determination using distance measures. The purpose of this paper is to interpret the relationship between students’ official test and the pilot test by means of distance measures in intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Distance measures have been compared and the most appropriate distance measure for this paper has been determined. This application of intuitionistic fuzzy set is very useful, because by calculating distance between each student and each school, the most proper school for each student has been determined. Available evaluation system could be renewed by using this application of intuitionistic fuzzy logic. Using this application in evaluation and determination system will have very beneficial results. The contribution of this new system are more stress-free, less anxious for testing, easier to implement, more economical and more advantageous in many ways. Thanks to this system, the enroll of students in high schools will not depend on a single test. Moreover, this is the first study to guide the students in the direction of students preferences in evaluation of success and this is the first one for evaluate with this application and offer recommendations in education.

Preference Attitude-Based Method for Ranking Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers and Its Application in Renewable Energy Selection

Many applications of intuitionistic fuzzy sets depend on ranking or comparing intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. This paper presents a novel ranking method for intuitionistic fuzzy numbers based on the preference attitudinal accuracy and score functions. The proposed ranking method considers not only the preference attitude of decision maker, but also all the possible values in feasible domain. Some desirable properties of preference attitudinal accuracy and score functions are verified in detail. A total order on the set of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers is established by using the proposed two functions. The proposed ranking method is also applied to select renewable energy. The advantage and validity of the proposed method are shown by comparing with some representative ranking methods.

An object oriented approach to the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets in competency based test evaluation

Characterizations of neutrosophic quadruple BCI-algebra are considered. Conditions for the neutrosophic quadruple BCI-set to be a p-semisimple BCI-algebra are provided. A condition for a subalgebra to be an ideal in neutrosophic quadruple BCIalgebra is given. Conditions for the set NQ(A, B) to be a neutrosophic quadruple closed ideal and neutrosophic quadruple p-ideal are discussed. Characterizations of neutrosophic quadruple p-ideal are considered.

Disease diagnosis using an advanced distance measure for Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets

In the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets(IFSs), distance measures play a very important role in decision science. Though different distance measures of IFSs are developed with various aspects, many of them do not satisfy the axioms of distance measure or encounter some counterintuitive cases. To fill up the deficiency it is always useful to define novel distance measures, which motivates us towards the development of new distance measure. This paper presents a new method for distance measure between IFSs. For the efficiency and validity of the proposed distance measure a comparitive study is carried out with the numerical examples and also the distance measure is applied in a multi criteria decision making process. Finaly, two medical diagnosis problems are discudssed under this setting.

Applications of Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets in the Academic Career of the Students

Objectives: The objective of our study is to identify which type of course one has to take in order to get a particular type of job through proper skill development. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In our study, we use intuitionistic fuzzy sets to find the relation between the different types of Academic courses along with different types of Skills, that one can develop through the courses. And then we relate the Skills with different Job opportunities. Findings: Through our study we find that, if one wants to get a proper Job (in any sector), he/she has to take any Course (Professional or Arts & Science) in the UG level with some Computer inputs in the Curriculum of the course and then he/she has to do some Management course in the PG degree or diploma level. Choosing a particular Academic course and developing proper Skills in order get a particular Job is a vital part in any one’s life and making decisions on this is really a complex task. But through our methodology one can find the solution for this problem. Application/Improvements: One can apply the above methodology to relate any two different sets of criteria, which have intermediate sets of criteria that can relate them.

An application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets in medicine

Intuitionistic fuzzy sets have many applications in different sciences. In this paper we verify one of the applications of intuitionistic fuzzy sets in medical diagnosis according to the ideas of Shannon et al., Wang and Xin, Grzregorzewski, Hung and Yang, and Yang and Chiclana. Actually by using the relationships between intuitionistic fuzzy sets and symptoms of patient we determine the kind of illness and finally we compare the methods.

The orders of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers

In many applications of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, comparing or ranking intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs) plays an important role. In this paper, the orders of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers are discussed. The orders of IFNs have undesired mathematical properties. By using a special function, a new order of IFNs is proposed. This new type of order has good mathematical properties on algebraic intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (A-IFNs) which is a dense collection of IFNs, and A-IFNs are adequate in most applications.

This paper presents an analysis on logistics facilities layout of manufacture enterprise and the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets as an evaluation to optimise logistics facilities layout problem. In this paper, systemic layout planning (SLP) has been employed to design the logistics facilities and determine the optimal location of each warehouse. Innovatively, this paper introduces the intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) to evaluate logistics facilities layout comprehensively after we formed the facilities layout plan. Most noteworthy is that a broad and detailed two-stage index system of logistics facilities layout has been established including the aspect of economy, efficiency, adaptability, security and environment. Though the comprehensive assessment of production logistics facilities layout is good (G), there exists optimal spatial to improve logistics efficiency. Therefore, we propose a new improved logistics facilities layout. After manufacture enterprise implements the improved logistics facilities layout, its transportation become more unobstructed, waiting time has been reduced and cost of logistics has been decreased consequently.

Application of Intuitionistic Fuzzy Set With n- Parameters in Medical Diagnosis

In this paper, we first introduce intuitionistic fuzzy sets [IFS] with n-parameters. This method of approach is different and singular in certain aspects. In this n-parameters method the relationship between membership values and hesitancy values and hesitancy values and non-membership values are studied to diagnosis the cause of diseases. The symptoms are checked once and even if there is slight variations in the symptoms the doctor can diagnosis the disease accurately, but this is not studied in other existing methods.

Selection of Vendor Based on Intuitionistic Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process

Business environment is characterized by greater domestic and international competitive position in the global market. Vendors play a key role in achieving the so-called corporate competition. It is not easy however to identify good vendors because evaluation is based on multiple criteria. In practice, for VSP most of the input information about the criteria is not known precisely. Intuitionistic fuzzy set is an extension of the classical fuzzy set theory (FST), which is a suitable way to deal with impreciseness. In other words, the application of intuitionistic fuzzy sets instead of fuzzy sets means the introduction of another degree of freedom called nonmembership function into the set description. In this paper, we proposed a triangular intuitionistic fuzzy number based approach for the vendor selection problem using analytical hierarchy process. The crisp data of the vendors is represented in the form of triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. By applying AHP which involves decomposition, pairwise comparison, and deriving priorities for the various levels of the hierarchy, an overall crisp priority is obtained for ranking the best vendor. A numerical example illustrates our method. Lastly a sensitivity analysis is performed to find the most critical criterion on the basis of which vendor is selected.
