In this article, we discussed the use ofanimals in clinical practice beyond animal-assistedtherapy to emphasize that it can benefit even morefrom animals in medicine. Animal-assisted therapyis a rehabilitation and treatment procedure that usestrained animals to help patients cope with certainsituations in a complementary way to othertherapeutic interventions. The studies showed thatmuch many animals, most commonly dogs andhorses, have been successfully used on mental healthproblems in both children and adults. We think thatmany animals such as horses, cats, birds and fishes can be successfully used as complementarytreatment in patients with various disorders such asmental disability, motor retardation, vision andhearing problems, as well as mental health problemsbecause the Quran foretold that animals could beused in the service of humans over 1,400 years ago.We recommend that health professionals shouldcooperate with veterinarians and conduct rando-mized controlled studies, including large seriesabout this subject.
