A Selective Review of Rehabilitation Services and Disabilities Studies Syllabi

Background:This investigation examined what information is typically included in an undergraduate rehabilitation syllabus and how this information is presented in written form to students.Method:Syllabi (n= 117) from six undergraduate programs, each of which reflected a different program emphasis, were reviewed in terms of their framework (traditional, instructor-centered, student-centered, and enhanced) as well as categorical information contained in their narratives.Findings:An analysis of stylistic features indicate that undergraduate faculty tend to produce syllabi that are instructor-centered and support a pedagogical rather than an andragogical way of learning. The “typical” undergraduate course is a 3-credit offering with an enrollment of about 30 students that meets once or twice per week and is more likely taught by an adjunct faculty (nontenure track) member. While most faculty post information regarding instructor contact information, course description, learning objectives, grading system, and support services, greater variation was noted regarding posting office hours, expected student behavior (e.g., attendance, missing class, and participation), class policies (e.g., late/missing assignments and extra credit), and a description of teaching methods.Conclusion:Given the importance of how syllabi serve as an outline of course content and class policies, it is recommended that rehabilitation educators develop syllabi that are more student-centered and support adult learners.

A Brief Analysis of Stylistic Features and Chinese Translation of News English

Expressive and Pictorial Language and the National Orientation of Creative Experiements of the Lviv Artists in the 1980s: L. Medvid, M. Yagoda, M. Bezpalkiv

The article addresses expressive and pictorial means in the works of Lviv artists of the 1980s L. Medvid, M. Yagoda, M. Bezpalkiv, who were iconic and famous figures of the second half of the twentieth century in the artistic life of Lviv, Ukraine, and abroad. Their works differ significantly against the background of the artistic context, the paintings operate deep spiritual and moral and aesthetic values, images from Ukrainian mythology, and are marked by professionalism and unique style. The aim of the research isto view the 1980s paintings by L. Medvid, M. Yagoda, M. Bezpalkiv in the context of the expressionist vector of development. Research methodology includes art analysis, comparative method, method of analysis and synthesis, formal analysis ofstylistic features of the authors’ styles. In the process of complex research, the socio-cultural, artistic and political preconditions that led to the emergence and formation of expressive features in the works of L. Medvid, M. Yagoda, M. Bezpalkiv were clarified. It was discovered that the painting of Lviv-based artists in the 1980s significantly influenced the present-day art of Lviv

На основі італо- й англомовної літератури представлено аналітичний огляд зображень Богородиці у релігійному живописі, скульптурному мистецтві, музейних колекціях і мозаїках м. Венеції. Почитання Пречистої Діви Марії, як покровительки міста, у Венеції має давні історичні витоки й яскраво виражене за допомогою візуальної мови мистецтва різних стилів, зокрема італійського ренесансу. Відомі малярі, представники знаменитої венеційської школи живопису, залишили після себе велику кількість полотен присвячених Богородиці, які зберігаються у храмах, музеях, галереях Венеції та репрезентують важливий вимір для сучасних історичних, мистецьких, теологічних і маріологічних досліджень.
 Іншим важливим аспектом є мозаїки храмів Венеції та островів Венеційської лагуни, які представляють переплетення візантійського стилю з творчими здобутками венеційських майстрів, які ґрунтовно навчалися техніки візантійського мистецтва, у результаті витворивши свої унікальні стилістичні особливості.

An Empire Style Furniture Set at Nedkovich House, Old Town Plovdiv

Abstract The paper considers the interior and furnishing of a Revival Bulgarian house built in 1863. The aim of this paper is to present the architecture and to give a closer overview of a part of the furniture collection belonging to this house: the French Empire style furniture set in the South East drawing room of the upper floor. The aim is to perform the analysis of stylistic features as well as to make a hypothesis concerning the cabinet maker.

The Text Analysis Program: Developing students' analytical skills

This program is designed for improving student learning skills both in class and in independent learning mode in a number of areas: textual analysis, résumé work and vocabulary extension. It is not a concordance program, although it has some elements of a concordance, but seeks to provide a computerenhanced working environment for the pedagogy of textual study for advanced language learners. Unlike other text-based programs, which mainly deal with text enhancement, concordancing and the provision of exhaustive linguistic analysis of stylistic features, TAP (Text Analysis) is concerned to provide students with a pathway that will enable them to generate their own analysis of any text studied within the program.
