CFE Helsinki Tax Conference 2023: Summary Report on “Evolution or Devolution in the EU State Aid Judicial Practice and Impact of Digitalisation on Tax Practice”

In this note, the authors review the key points discussed at the CFE Professional Affairs Conference 2023 held in Helsinki, Finland on 21 September 2023, including enforcement of EU (State aid) law vis-à-vis aggressive tax planning practices, tax administration 3.0 and the current and expected developments in EU and international tax policy.

Medicines for Europe - 16th Legal Affairs Conference (June 29-July 1, 2022 - Barcelona, Spain).

Medicines for Europe held its 2022 annual conference in Sitges, Spain, from June 29 to July 1. Many topics were discussed including future-proofing healthcare systems in the E.U., methods to build a sustainable European ecosystem to incentivize the development of value-added medicines (VAMs), how to reshape national market policies and build a strong European co-operation to prevent shortages. In addition, attendants discussed key challenges and barriers that need to be addressed to ensure the E.U. remains a leader and an innovator in medicines manufacturing, as well as national strategies and practices influencing the sustainability of the biosimilar medicines market and patient access to biological medicines.

Cultivating Partnership Culture and Gender Equality: The 2016 Naval Academy Roundtable

Emma Whitehead is an alumna of the Center for Partnership Studies Young Women's Leadership Program. In this article she reflects on her experience as a delegate to the 2016 United States Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference. The conference promoted the status of women and girls globally and Whitehead participated in a round table session on gender equity, sharing insights from the Center for Partnership Studies.

Change of Climate in Taxation – Extended Responsibilities for Tax Advisers? – CFE Professional Affairs Conference to be held on 22 November 2013 in Milan

Recent initiatives against “harmful tax practices” are moving existing legal tax structures into a grey area, entailing a loss of legal certainty for taxpayers and advisers. New responsibilities for advisers are under discussion, which not only question the traditional role of tax advisers but also pose a risk to their businesses. The Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE) will discuss these topics at its Professional Affairs Conference on 22 November 2013 in Milan.
