Integrating sucralose degradation with the aeration purification of reduced ilmenite presents an untapped opportunity for enhancing aeration efficiency and promoting wastewater utilization. Herein, aeration experiments conducted at 80 °C with a 2 % sucralose concentration yielded an 18 % enhancement in aeration efficiency, a 21.5 % decrease in energy expenditure, and the sucralose content was reduced to 2.5 %. Density functional theory calculations and computational fluid dynamics confirm the formation of Fe-O interactions between sucralose and γ-FeOOH colloids, which produce flocculation, decrease slurry viscosity, and enhance oxygen transfer, thereby improving aeration efficiency. Furthermore, FeCl3, generated during aeration, catalyzes sucralose degradation. This study provides a theoretical foundation and practical experience for the synergistic application of wastewater and mineral processing.
