Poligami Dalam Prespektif Al-Qur`An Dan Hadis

The practice of polygamy existed long before Islam and became a permitted habit. Unfortunately, many people think that polygamy is a practice that only became known after the advent of Islam. Ironically, Islam is considered to have a monopoly and legalizes polygamy. In reality, Islam came to limit the movement towards polygamous marriages with certain limits. Justice in polygamy is an obligation that must receive special attention, because the word "fair" is very easy to say but difficult to implement. In this research the author focuses on verses from the Koran and hadith related to polygamy, namely; Surah An-Nisa' verse 3 and several authentic hadiths related to polygamy. This type of research is completely library research (library research) taking data from literature that is related to the research theme. The analysis technique in this writing uses a content analysis model by exploring and analyzing the thoughts or views of scholars regarding verses of the Koran and hadith related to polygamy.

Exploring the Impact of Monopolistic Practices on the Nigerian Economy: An Islamic Perspective

The economy is the backbone of the success of any country. A failure in its domain is equivalent to failure in other aspects. Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, which has been considered a land of vast economic potential, is still struggling to actualize this prospect due to some imperfections. Monopoly hugely contributes to market imperfection, and its effects can be constraints on economic growth. The issue had arisen since the advent of Islam, whereby it was used as a strategy to maximize profit. The Islamic system believes in the co-existence of an economic public sector along with the private sector. Though Islam frowns at any market imperfection that can lead to paroxysms of increasing prices for both suppliers and consumers, it also pinpoints regulatory measures. The study, therefore, adopted a qualitative method, which was used to review related and relevant literature on the concept of monopoly, and interviews were also conducted to gather information on the practice and effect of monopoly. The paper revealed that among the regulatory measures used to control this market imperfection was Ḥisbah. The study exposed that killing the sense of competitiveness in the market is the most atrocious effect of monopoly on the Nigerian economy. The paper also found that the Nigerian economy can regain its breath and fame if these measures can be applied to control the juggernauts' engineering in the market either by halting the competitive market, hoarding, or proportioning scarcity. The study recommended that the government should play its role as an overall investigating force over the prices dictated by the public and private sectors.

An Analysis of Ibn Taimmiyah's Hijā' in Qasīdah Lāmiyah as the Identity of the Mahdzab Hambali

This research aims to analyze the style of satire (hijā’) used by Ibn Taymiyyah in his book titled "Qasīdah Lāmiyah (The Satirical Poem)". It is a work by Ibn Taymiyyah that contains satirical poetry directed towards those who questioned his scholarly identity. Hijā’ style is poetry used to mock other poets in a distinctive manner, often in the form of self-praise or disparagement of a group. However, since the advent of Islam, this style has frequently been used to defend Islam, whether individuals or groups, including scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah. This research employs a qualitative approach using content analysis method. Content analysis, according to Creswell, is a qualitative research method used to identify specific patterns or themes within text. The analysis results indicate that verses of satirical poetry (shiʿr hijâ) were found in Qasīdah Lāmiyah, consisting of 2 types of ethical satire (al-hijâ al-akhlâqî) and 14 verses of religious satire (al-hijâ al-dînî).

Is Islam the Cause of Muslim Women's Subordination? A Historical Study of Gender in The Old Age and The Classical Islamic Period 7th Century

This article critically examines the historical context of gender equality in Islam, seeking to dispel the misconception that women are considered inferior to men within the Islamic framework. Utilizing historical approaches, the discussion unfolds in three key segments. First, it delves into the position of women in pre-Islamic societies, encompassing the Greek, Christian, Jewish, and Arabian periods. Subsequently, it explores the status of women following the advent of Islam, focusing on the Prophet Muhammad's era, particularly during the 7th century. Furthermore, the article presents notable female figures from Islamic history as exemplars of gender inclusivity within Islam. The conclusion posits that Islam, rather than being inherently discriminatory, has been misrepresented due to the perpetuation of patriarchal cultural norms. This study offers valuable insights into the complex interplay between religious teachings and socio-cultural dynamics that shape perceptions of gender within Islamic societies.

UNRAVELING BANGLADESH'S CULTURAL EVOLUTION IN THE LIGHT OF ITS ISLAMIC MIDDLE AGES: BRIDGING HISTORIES

This research explores Bangladesh's historical and cultural evolution, specifically during its Islamic Middle Ages (1204–1757). Despite cultural affinities with the Indian subcontinent, Bangladesh's unique geographical features and diverse ethnographic amalgamation are often overlooked in prevailing narratives. The study seeks to uncover how Islam shaped the country's cultural identity during this historical period, addressing existing literature gaps and emphasising Muslims' contributions to Bangladesh's evolution. The research employs systematic observation, evaluation, and documentation using a qualitative approach with intercultural and phenomenological perspectives in religious studies. Drawing on historical, anthropological, linguistic, and archaeological disciplines, the descriptive method forms the basis of the study, incorporating a comprehensive compilation of materials from various sources. The findings highlight Bangladesh's multi-heritage identity, shaped by a complex intermingling of Dravidian, Australoid, Mongolian, and Aryan bloodlines. Islamic rulers were crucial in fostering a prosperous civilisation, contributing to language, literature, cuisine, costume design, and architecture advancements. Religion, particularly the advent of Islam, played a significant role in liberating the populace from oppressive structures. The research contributes to a comprehensive understanding of Bangladesh's historical and cultural evolution, emphasising the significance of diverse heritage and the role of religion in shaping identity. The study aims to foster unity and progress within the nation by addressing existing gaps.

THE EVOLUTION OF ISLAMIC LAW IN INDONESIA: A SOCIO-HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE ON ITS STRUGGLE FOR EXISTENCE

Throughout Indonesia’s history, legal battles have been ongoing since the Dutch colonial era, with three distinct legal systems asserting their presence. Among these, Islamic law holds significance within Indonesia’s legal framework. This study aims to outline the historical struggle of Islamic law in establishing its place within national legislation. Employing a sociological approach, the research delves into the narrative of Islamic law’s struggle, utilizing secondary data and employing narrative analysis to chronologically recount its journey. Findings reveal that Islamic law has deep historical roots in Indonesia, functioning as a living legal tradition since the advent of Islam in the region. Despite being abolished by Dutch colonial rule, Islamic law persisted and continues to influence both written and unwritten aspects of Indonesian law. Post-independence, Indonesia largely adopted the legal policies of its colonial predecessors, further cementing the presence of Islamic law within its legal framework. Today, Islamic law remains recognized within national legislation, serving as a filter for legal materials and contributing to the formation of Indonesian law.

Law of Contracts in Late Antique Persia

The article is about private law contracts and their social, economic, and religious background in Sasanian Persia (224–651) before the advent of Islam. After a brief introduction to the sources and research method, the paper examines Zoroastrian moral teachings about obligations in general and contractual obligations in particular. To emphasise the religious background, the Avestan hymn to Mithra and the Vendidad are scrutinised which have a classification of contracts and a pyramid of sanctions for their breach. The second part of the article analyses private law contracts, which can be found in the Sasanian Law Book called Madigan I Hazar Dadestan, such as sale, barter, donation, lease, and loan, together with legal guarantees such as surety and pledge. In addition to legal dogmatics, attention is also paid to gaps in the law and the opportunities they provide for parties to achieve unlawful ends with legal means, as well as the prudence of Sasanian lawyers and how they stopped such abuses of the law.

A long time ago, some cultures had social hierarchies that placed women on a lower level than men. They often have limited access to education and are rarely involved in political affairs or important decisions in society. However, with the advent of Islam, great attention was paid to women and they were given high dignity. In Islam, women are considered partners for men in carrying out the responsibilities of life. Allah affirms that women are men's companions in carrying out the role of caliph in this world. The purpose of this paper is to explore the rights and status of women in modern society, as well as to counter traditional ideas that are still influential from past cultures, both in the social, cultural, and political spheres. Thus, this study includes an analysis of the position and rights of women according to an Islamic perspective.

PERSIAN ARCHITECTURE: A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION FOR MUGHAL IMPERIAL MOSQUES IN NORTH INDIA

India and Persia have had a strong socio-cultural relationship since the ancient period. There had been a cultural link between the two countries. Indo-Persian cultural amalgamation had increased with the advent of Islam in the Indian subcontinent. The syncretism of these two cultures influenced all aspects of life, including literature, art and architecture. This paper discusses the influence of Persian architecture on Mughal imperial mosques in North India. A review of literature from various scholars on possible influencing factors is presented, accompanied by an observation-based analysis of the architectural features of Persian mosques. Subsequently, the paper identifies and examines various Persian architectural elements existing in Mughal mosques in India. The results indicate that Persian architecture significantly influenced Mughal mosques in North India and using locally available materials made these mosques unique in their architectural styles.

SEJARAH MASYARAKAT ARAB SEBELUM DATANGNYA ISLAM

The history of the Qur'an in general and across schools of thought in particular will not be perfectly studied and explored if it is not accompanied by studying the history of the Arabs before the arrival of Islam because Islam first appeared in Arabia and its holy book was in Arabic. Before the advent of Islam, the Arab nation already had its own civilization, starting from the system of government to their respective beliefs. The purpose of this paper is to reveal information about the condition of Arab society before Islam from two different perspectives, namely Eastern and Western thought. In this paper, the discussion is only about the phenomenon of society in Arabia (Hijaz and its surroundings), during the period of growth and development of the Prophet Muhammad before being appointed as a prophet and beliefs and religion in the Hijaz before Islam.

NORMATIVE ISLAMIC CONCEPTUALIZATIONS OF FAMILIES AND KINSHIP THROUGH MAQASID PERSPECTIVES: A COMPREHENSIVE LITERATURE STUDY

The current article represents a comprehensive understanding of the family system and kinship in normative Muslim scholarship. It introduces the perception and definition of family and kinship relations and presents some of its fundamental features and bases in order to restructure critical, yet scattered opinions of scholars from various religious, legal, and historical Islamic sources. This research also aims to investigate numerous normatively formed perspectives related to family forms, the paradigm of values for family and kinship, and the family systems inspired by normative sources of Islam which have been discussed in broader discourse echelons to show the development of Muslim scholarship, provisions, opinions, and analysis, with regard to family and kin, especially under the umbrella of maqāṣid al-shari’ah. The article follows a qualitative methodology with historical, analytical, and descriptive approaches in a comparative manner when investigating normative accounts of the Muslim family and kinship. This study's contribution to international scholars in the field lies in its comprehensive analysis of maqasid framework for family and kinship in Islam and its divergence among normative scholarship. By shedding light on these normative perspectives, it enriches the existing scholarly discourse on maqasid al-shari’ah and opens up new avenues for further research and exploration in contemporary approaches to family and kinship studies. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for researchers, academics, and practitioners seeking a deeper understanding of maqasid al-shari’ah and its practical applications in contemporary contexts. The article found out that the advent of Islam, as mentioned in normative Muslim scholarship, introduced several religious rudiments into the family and kinship life that morally, structurally, and socially altered and regulated the character, structure, and purposes of the Muslim family to ensure stability and advocate social relations and order.

The Local Wisdom on Sundanese People in Relationship with the Natural Environment: An Analytical Study of the Philosophy of Society of Kampung Dukuh Garut

There is no doubt that the advent of Islam in the Archipelago Region, particularly in the Sunda World, has transformed the weltanschauung of the local community, shifting from a polytheistic paradigm to the monotheistic paradigm (tawhid). This has fostered a synergy between the outcomes of Divine revelation and Sundanese wisdom, giving rise to local wisdom in Malay-Islamic society. Moreover, the role of intellectuals in bridging the perspectives of ”sky idealism” with ”earth/cultural reality” is crucial in shaping dynamic, relevant, and applicable teachings of local wisdom embraced by the Sundanese people. This reciprocal process is evident in the collection of Sundanese local wisdom in Alam Parahyangan, whether in written form or through actions and practices. The objective of this study is to highlight several points. Firstly, it aims to demonstrate that the awareness of living in harmony with nature is manifested in the local wisdom of indigenous peoples through their views and concepts. Secondly, it seeks to emphasize the unique construction and formulation of Sundanese local wisdom, which results from the synthesis of Islamic values and Sundanese thought. Lastly, the study proposes the re-examination of Sundanese manuscripts, which serve as repositories of local Sundanese-Islamic wisdom. These manuscripts exhibit various forms of thoughts, including rhymes, dangding (a form of Sundanese poetry), advice, and others.

Status of Women in Mughal Period: A Historical Perspective

Women along with man, from time immemorial, has formed an integral part of social structure. Her role in the various walks of life has contributed to the evolution of values which have counted for, what may be described, all round progress. Her status is the measuring yard for assessing the standard of culture of any age. This article examines the right and status of women during Mughal Period in India.In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Indian society was characterized by patriarchal norms and gender-based disparities, with women facing numerous challenges and limited opportunities.Dependence of women on their husbands or other male relatives was a prominent feature of this period. Females were expected to remain in seclusion and modesty. The status of women in medieval period was not that progressive. The key cause of this was, there was prevalence of male dominance. The women lack in various aspect of day to day live. They were not allowed to express their ideas and views. Women were dedicated towards the implementation of household responsibilities. In addition, they were overwhelmed by the practices of polygamy, sati, child marriage, and female infanticide. However, amidst these constraints, some remarkable women emerged as influential figures in politics, cultural patronage, and economic activities. Their contributions and resilience continue to inspire and shape the narrative of women’s roles and empowerment in history. Improvements came about in their conditions with the advent of Islam and they were given rights.

AN ELUCIDATION OF THE POSITION OF WOMEN BEFORE THE ADVENT OF ISLAM AS DESCRIBED IN THE GLORIOUS QUR’AN

Before the advent of Islam, the position of women varied widely across different regions and cultures. It is important to note that the following information provides a general overview and may not apply uniformly to all societies of that time. Pre-Islamic Arabia: In pre-Islamic Arabia, women's status varied greatly depending on tribal customs and traditions. Some tribes practiced female infanticide, considering daughters a burden, while others valued women as members of the community. Women were often married off at a young age and had limited rights in matters of inheritance, divorce, and property ownership. Polygamy was prevalent, and women were sometimes treated as objects of trade. The position of women in pre-Islamic Arabia was varied, depending on their social status and tribal affiliation. However, in general, women had few rights and were often treated as second-class citizens. They were not allowed to own property, inherit, or testify in court. They could be married off without their consent, and they could be divorced by their husbands at will. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to expose these issues in details. Also, the paper explains the status of women in Roman period, in Jews period and in the Christian era. The method used in conducting this research is analytical method.

With the advent of Islam, the reforms at cultural, social, economic, educational, medical, political, domestic and militant levels were introduced and simultaneously implemented. According to these reforms, women were given the right to participate in all social, cultural, educational, medical and domestic activities. In all spheres of life, Islam allows, both men and women to participate actively within their gender limits. Tolerance in social interaction, mutual assistance and other social behaviors of Muslim women in early period of Meccan era, are enriched exemplary source for Muslim women of modern age. During the Meccan era, women were active in the economic field like the first lady of Islam Ḥaḍrat Khadīja who used to do business activities and she spent a major portion of his wealth in promoting Islam. Contemporary Muslim women may participate in the economic field according to their feminine limits. Islam encourages them. Other activities among Muslim women of early period of Islam are adornment, telling stories to each other, visiting each other’s home, sewing, embroidering and nursing. In this research paper, cultural and domestic accomplishments of women in the Meccan era have been briefly analyzed and their contemporary applications are also highlighted.

Al-Hajjaj is a mechanism as old as man himself, but it is renewable by its nature, due to the need of life for it in all its aspects, which gives it a strong renewable energy. Old and renewed , the research approach lost the study of argumentative links and directives in the art of rhetoric between the pre-Islamic era and the era of early Islam, updating an argumentative comparison between the sermons in the two eras to reveal the similarities and differences brought about by the new religion and imposed by the nature of life, since the sermons are a linguistic and literary wealth issued by different queens that had their goals that It varied with the diversity of goals and objectives, and it was also the guide that the Arabs relied on in guiding individuals and groups since the pre-Islamic era, so it remained dominant and authoritarian even after the advent of Islam.

Dynamic Religious Acculturation: Exploring the Living Hadith Through the Ba'ayun Mawlid Tradition in Kalimantan

This paper presents a comprehensive examination of the ba’ayun mawlid tradition in South Kalimantan, offering a unique perspective on the living hadith and cultural acculturation within the context of Islam’s peaceful dissemination in the region. Originating as the Bapalas Bidan, a pre-Islamic ritual honoring supernatural spirits involved in childbirth, this tradition underwent a significant transformation after the advent of Islam, retaining its structure while embracing Islamic values and practices. Today, ba’ayun mawlid takes place in mosques under the guidance of religious leaders and midwives, featuring salawat in place of Kaharingan spells. This study delves into the diverse motivations driving community engagement in this tradition, including vow fulfillment, the annual zuriat ritual, the pursuit of blessings from sacred customs and locales, tawassul to nurture filial devotion and love for the Prophet, efforts to enhance livelihoods, cultural heritage preservation, and the evolution of ba’ayun mawlid into a form of religious tourism. Rooted in the prophetic hadith promising reunion with loved ones in the hereafter, this cultural phenomenon underscores the profound influence of religious practices on shaping values, identities, and the cultural landscape of the Banua Halat community. It provides valuable insights into the dynamics of acculturation and the enduring impact of religion on Indonesian society.

MAJNOON'S NARRATION IN THE BOOK OF SONGS BETWEEN FACT AND FICTION

I place this study (Majnoon's Narration in the Book of El-egani Between Fact and Fiction) in the hands of readers and researchers. Perhaps it draws their attention because of its importance, especially the character that this study dealt with, the character of Qais bin Al-Malawwah (Majnoun Layla), and perhaps one of the most prominent poetic figures in the history of the platonic poetry. A love of a new kind, the signs of which seemed clear after the advent of Islam during the Umayyad era, which dominated the inhabitants of the desert of Hijaz and Najd, where the Arab traditions had mastered, until it became a general phenomenon in those desert, and perhaps it was a reaction to the shameless flirtation that spread in the cities at the time. Qais bin Al-Malawah represents the most wonderful representation of the platonic chaste love, which was a natural result and fruit of the desert environment and the Islamic faith that spread in this era. The research shed light on the narrations that came in the story of Majnoon's love for Laila (in the Book of El-egani), in terms of their authenticity and truthfulness. Far from the reality of the existence of Qais’ personality rather than its non-existence, as many critics and researchers have dealt with this issue, but in this research we decided to discuss the issue of narrations only, so we subjected it to the will of reason on the one hand, and to the customs and traditions in the Hijaz desert on the other, and finally to the Islamic faith that It was prevalent in that region at that time

SEJARAH KRONOLOGI BAHASA ARAB: SEMITIK

The chronology of the development of Arabic can be traced back to the early Semitic languages spoken in the Mesopotamia and Levant regions around 3000 BC. The language underwent a significant transformation along with migration and interaction between ethnic groups in the Arabian Peninsula and beyond. Important stages in the history of the Arabic language include the period of the Old Arabic language, documented in ancient inscriptions and inscriptions, to the development of Classical Arabic in the 6th century AD which became the language of the Quran. The role of Islam and the expansion of the Arab Caliphate extended the use of this language to a wider area, thus becoming the lingua franca in science, literature, and government in the Islamic world. Standard Modern Arabic, as it is used today, is the result of an evolution of Classical Arabic with adaptations and simplifications for contemporary communication. The chronology of the development of Arabic as part of the Semitic language family shows how this language is not only a means of communication, but also a symbol of identity and cultural heritage that continues to evolve and adapt to socio-political dynamics With the advent of Islam in the 7th century AD, Classical Arabic, which is the language of the Quran, became the linguistic and cultural standard that united the Arab region. The spread of Islam and the expansion of the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphate led to Arabic becoming the lingua franca in a wide area, from Spain to Central Asia, replacing local languages in the context of government, science, and commerce. During this period, the Arabic language also experienced rapid development in the fields of literature, philosophy, science, and law, known as the Islamic Golden Age.

The Advent of Islam has launched the Greatest Arabic Language Planning Process Ever-made in History for a Language

This descriptive and analytical research conducted to investigate the relationship between the advent and spread of Islam and its reflections on the development and growth of the Arabic language from one side, and link that with the contemporary principle, concepts and theories of language planning from the other side. The coming and spread of Islam has made major procedures that have enhanced the status, corpus and acquisition of Arabic. They include selection, standardization and codification of the Arabic language as the official language for the Muslim community and state. The advent of Islam has made great linguistic changes to the Arabic language components including its phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. These procedures have changed the Arabic status from a language of local tribes to an international language spoken by about 450 million in the world; it has also become the native and official language for 22 countries and the liturgical language for about 1.7 billion Muslims. Learning and disseminating Arabic is enhancing, booming and increasing worldwide.
