Community Perspectives on the Environmental, Social, and Economic Impacts of the Tomohon International Flower Festival

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to evaluate the perceptions of the local community regarding the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental impacts of the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF). Specifically, the study aims to understand how the residents of Tomohon view the festival's contributions to their economic well-being, social cohesion, cultural preservation, and environmental sustainability. Research methodology: This research used an exploratory approach to analyse residents' perceptions of the economic, socio-cultural, and environmental impacts of festival activities in Tomohon. Results: The results of the research indicate that the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) is perceived positively by the local community across several dimensions. Economically, TIFF is seen as a significant contributor to local income, job creation, and regional revenue. Socio-culturally, the festival enhances social interactions, fosters cultural pride, and supports cultural and educational development. However, the community also expressed concerns about environmental sustainability, particularly regarding waste generation and its negative impact on the city’s aesthetics. Limitations: The data gathered reflects the views of the respondents at a specific point in time and may be influenced by personal experiences, biases, or limited knowledge about broader economic, socio-cultural, and environmental factors. Additionally, the sample size, though sufficient for exploratory analysis, may not be fully representative of the entire Tomohon population, potentially limiting the generalizability of the findings. Contribution: This article contributes to the broader understanding of the socio-economic and environmental impacts of large-scale cultural events like the Tomohon International Flower Festival (TIFF) from the perspective of local communities. This research also serves as a guide for event organizers and policymakers in optimizing the benefits of festivals while addressing community concerns, thereby promoting more sustainable and inclusive event planning.

Keeping Time: Prayers and Social Vitality in the Ashanti Adaε Festival

ABSTRACT In African traditional systems, while culture provides a bond of social vitality and cohesion, prayer connects the living with the sacred. This study closely examines prayer performances during the Adaε festival of the Asante people of Ghana as a mode of keeping time through their renewals of inherent knowledge about the divine to vitalise history, regulate lives today and hold memories for the future. This research is approached qualitatively using ethnographic methods of participant observation and interactions to conceptualise the significance of prayer to temporality during the activities of the Adaε festival. It was established that, whereas the regular lives of the religious Asante people are regulated by the modern calendar, their religio-cultural lives are moderated by the Adaε calendar, with people living in two complex time zones. As a means of keeping the past and revitalising the present, prayer is ingrained into every activity associated with the Adaε festival to venerate the brevity of their forbears, Nana nom, to invoke their communal presence and to seek their favour to sustain the future while evoking notions of timelessness.

Zhuang Food Culture: Meaning and Representation in the Process of New Media Communication in China

Designing a qualitative research method using observations, in-depth interviews, group discussions, and literature review data fieldwork survey collection investigated by participants to the meaning and representation of Zhuang food culture in the process of new media communication in China. The Zhuang people are a Tai-speaking ethnic group, mostly living in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Southern China. Food also plays a critical role in symbolizing happiness in Chinese culture. Zhuang food culture holds seven tiers of meaning for the Zhuang people, manifested in both traditional festivals and daily life. In Chinese culture, verbal communication is most accurately interpreted in the context of nonverbal communication, social hierarchy, and other background information. Social roles and a concern for respect and harmony inevitably have a bearing on communication. Zhuang food culture reveals that amidst the development of new media communication in China. Focuses on the Zhuang Sanyuesan Festival activities: A deeper understanding of the unique cultural characteristics of this ethnic group in new media communication; the Five-Color Sticky Rice; the Zhuang society and the outside world continuously are developing increasingly; the transformation of the Zhuang people through their production and life practices; etc., The representation of Zhuang food culture on new media platforms is primarily conducted through three dimensions: food culture, regional culture, and traditional Zhuang culture. Zhuang Food Culture has the remarkable ability to bring people together and create a sense of connection. For instance, dumplings, with their round shape and plump filling, symbolize wealth and prosperity and are often eaten during the Chinese New Year to usher in a prosperous year ahead.

A Diversity–Distraction–Dependency System as a Positive Human Factor in Crews’ Interplanetary Missions

In successful scenarios of missions to the Moon and Mars, humans develop multi-factorial systems through adapted behaviors to build cohesive multi-national crews with their individual features. We assume that frequencies of social interactions, social orientations, and facial vs. collateral expressions change according to mixed-culture and mixed-gender crew characteristics and as a function of the crewmember’s grouping at the same time and in the same place. The ethological method, with the phases of observation, description, and quantification of behavioral manifestations, was applied to the SIRIUS program and MARS-500 program. This involved simulating a 120-day confinement, a 240-day confinement, and a 520-day confinement in a multi-module facility. Focus was made on the meal area, sports area, and leisure area. We investigated the full nationality–gender-varied crew and the crewmember’s attendance and localization for distractive or festive activities during their free time. Social optimization declined and then grew in a temporal dynamic. Global behavioral distribution showed differences according to the duration of experiments during collective time. As a result, a system based on crew diversity, crew distraction, and crewmembers’ inter-dependence should be considered as a positive human factor in the process of adaptation with the goal of enhancing the well-being of future interplanetary crews.

Potential For Night Culinary Tourism On Jalan Pekalipan Cirebon

Research has been carried out on the culinary potential of mala m on Jalan Pekalipan Cirebon. The method used is a descriptive method by conducting surveys, interviews and secondary data analysis from various sources that can be accounted for. The results of the research indicate that Pekalipan culinary tourism located on Pekalipan street is the first culinary tourism carried out by the Cirebon City Government. Pekalipan Culinary Tourism was inaugurated as one of the culinary destinations through the Pekalipan Festival activities, which was inaugurated on Saturday, September 22, 2022, Pekalipan Culinary Tourism: The first culinary tour in the city of Cirebon initiated by the Cirebon City Government. Pekalipan culinary tourism has 15 traders, each with culinary specialties served to visitors, both Cirebon specialties and contemporary foods. Pekalipan culinary tourism has been used as a tourism destination that can be developed by the city government by referring to the aspects that must be fulfilled as a tourism destination by looking at the 4 A aspects, namely attraction (attraction), accessible (system achieved), amenities (facilities) and ancillary (tourism institutions). Research on the brand design and cultural tourism development of Chinese minority festivals from the perspective of ritual theory

Under the background of the current national unity and the integration of culture and tourism, this paper deeply explores the development dilemma of ethnic minority festival activities, reveals the dynamic relationship between ethnic minority festival activities and social structure, and then identifies the root causes of its development dilemma, and seeks to promote its contemporary inheritance and development through brand design. Using literature analysis and theoretical analysis, this paper systematically combs the historical evolution, current situation and challenges of ethnic minority festival activities. Especially in the perspective of ritual theory, in-depth analysis of the cultural connotation and social function of national festivals, as well as its adaptation and change in contemporary social changes. The study found that due to the changes in the social structure, the fracture of cultural heritage and the intensification of external competition, the current ethnic minority festival activities are facing problems such as insufficient inheritance, low popularity and weakening of festival activities. By creating a festival brand with local characteristics and cultural connotation, it can stimulate national pride and cultural identity, promote the integration and development of national unity and cultural tourism industry, reconstruct the social foundation of ethnic festival activities, and enhance their cultural value and market influence. Therefore, we should actively explore and practice the application of brand design in ethnic minority festivals, and make positive contributions to the protection and inheritance of traditional culture of ethnic minorities.

Suma Jakaña: Interacción Socio-Ética Familiar y Comunitaria Aimara

Objective: Describe, identify and interpret the manifestations of the sum jakaña in its dimension of socio-ethical family and community interaction expressed in the daily life of the Aymara population, district of Acora. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework used is the concepts and definition of Good Living and Living Well, the etymology and linguistic analysis of the terms sum qamaña, sumq kawsay, sum jakaña. Method: The research has been approached through the qualitative approach, ethnographic method, in-depth interview techniques and participant observation. Results and Discussion: For families and community members, the sum jakaña is manifested in harmonious marital, interfamilial, community, intercommunity interactions, in the integrative relationship of the human being with his natural environment, deities and the deceased, processes that are fluid by ethical values. morals, such as the reciprocity practiced in agricultural-pastoral work, in the celebrations of social and vital events. Research implications: Aymara families in yesteryear practiced various customs related to cooperation, “The word sums jakaña; It means that we live well, we die well. So we must understand the Aymaras as a “great Aymara family” or a “great Aymara community”, united by language, by community norms, by ethical-moral principles, by cosmolife. The sum jakaña will serve as a model of life to be followed by generations worldwide. Originality/Value: This research work is original first-hand, the informants were selected for their wisdom and experience; the same one that has been worked in a context of coexistence and collective participation resorting to the same source in the customary festive activities of the community, therefore, it is subjected to its own work with a unique idea.

Tingkat Partisipasi Masyarakat dalam Konservasi Penyu di Pantai Mampie Kecamatan Wonomulyo Kabupaten Polewali Mandar

Continuous maintenance, management and protection efforts are very important in turtle conservation to avoid extinction and damage. This research aims to calculate the level of community participation in turtle conservation activities using quantitative methods by distributing questionnaires. The population in this study was the entire Patoreang Mampie Hamlet community around the beach and the sample size was 40 respondents. The results of the research show that the level of community participation in the form of planning is included in the high category with a score of 2.71 because the community's environmental awareness is very high and the management of the turtle house has provided education related to maintaining and preserving the existence of turtles and the level of community participation in the form of management is included in the category high with a score of 2.75 as evidenced by community participation in turtle conservation activities, turtle festival activities, and the release of turtle hatchlings. Participation in the form of monitoring and evaluation is included in the high category with a score of 2.60, which means that the community often gives free time to monitor and oversee conservation activities around the turtle house area so that they run well and effectively. This paper collects and organizes the research results related to the history and culture of the westward migration of the Sibe people, and summarizes the historical origin and ceremonial activities of the Westward Migration Festival to provide reference for further research work in the future.

The Impact of Ubud Food Festival on the Social and Economic Aspects of the Community in Banjar Penestanan Kaja, Ubud, Bali

Bali is one of the provinces in Indonesia that carry out festival activities in various regions. One of the regular festivals held annually since 2015 is the Ubud Food Festival which is held in Banjar Penestanan Kaja, Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali, Indonesia. Ubud Food Festival is a culinary festival featuring various Indonesian specialties. This research focuses on the social and economic impacts caused by the organizers of the Ubud Food Festival in Banjar Penestanan Kaja Ubud, Gianyar Bali, and expected to be useful for the organizers and the local community of Banjar Penestanan Kaja to find out all kinds of economic and social changes resulting from the implementation of the Ubud Food Festival which has been held for the past five years. The sampling technique in this research is purposive random sampling. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the implementation of an activity or event, especially the implementation of the Ubud Food Festival in Banjar Penestanan Kaja, has impacted the social and economic aspects for the community. Positive impacts from social aspects are: Ubud Food Festival is a place to socialize and exchange experiences between the people of Banjar Penestanan Kaja. raises awareness of the local community, fosters the creativity of the people of Banjar Penestanan Kaja, and makes people feel more special and satisfied. The positive impact from the economic aspect are: Ubud Food Festivals are directly or indirectly a promotional medium for Banjar Penestanan Kaja as a venue for events and also as a tourist destination, increasing income, especially in the tourism sector, increasing the employment opportunities during the Ubud Food Festival. While, the negative impact of the social aspect is the influx of culture brought by tourists visiting Banjar Penestanan Kaja causes the loss of identity and cultural authenticity in Banjar Penestanan Kaja, and the negative impact from the economic aspect is people tend to rely on the tourism sector as a livelihood.

Local Food Culture Festival Management Model in Papua

This research is a continuation of research and service as well as articles presented in international seminars and Bapenas FGDs. Research, PkM, International Seminars and FGDs from BAPENAS that have been carried out provide an illustration that Papua has great potential in local food, especially those made from sago. This is supported by the availability of sago forests and people who are starting to understand the preservation of sago forests and people who are creative in processing sago food in various preparations. However, the community has not yet found the right form to promote local food well and have a big impact. Conditions like this provide an opportunity for the government and academics to play a role in formulating the right strategy and realizing it in a major activity that can be known by many people nationally and internationally. One of the activities that can support the condition of people who are in this position is the government implementing a Local Food Culture Festival which is held on a scheduled schedule every year. This research aims to create a management model for local food culture festivals which is carried out in 2 (two) stages, namely Phase I (2023) sharing knowledge of the research team with festival management experts at UNY as well as concocting a suitable or appropriate form for festival management in Merauke Regency, as well as Benchmarking at several Cultural Festivals organized by the Yogyakarta Special Region Government (DIY) in September 2023, and Phase II (2024) the research team will carry out education and FGDs for 3 days for the Tourism and Culture Offices of Merauke Regency and South Papua Province as well as the candidates festival participants from the local food business community. The results of this research found that organizing a festival requires high synergy from the organizing team itself and from the government and sponsors. The most important thing is that it is necessary to carry out a survey or initial analysis of the festival theme which can describe the vision of the activities, potential and targets to be achieved by the festival. The budget and activity plan must be determined well in advance so that it can be included in the annual expenditure of sponsors or local governments. The selection of the organizing team must also be a professional team or a combination of a professional team and the sponsor, so that the implementation can go according to plan. Apart from that, the community must also be involved or empowered to participate. What is different about festivals held in the Papua region is the very dominant role of local communities involved in helping to improve the economy of the local population and promoting existing Papuan culture, apart from that there is still a lack of third parties who are willing to sponsor festival activities in Papua, especially Papuan cultural and local food festival.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to conduct research on various variables of festival safety by analyzing the relationship between risk perception of local festivals and festival activities and behavioral intentions, and to provide implications for festival safety management through this research.
 Methods: This study was conducted through random sampling to identify risk perception and behavioral intentions of various classes, and a face-to-face survey was conducted on visitors who participated in the 2023 Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival. A total of 230 copies were used for empirical analysis.
 Results: As a result of factor analysis, risk perception was classified into safety facilities, safety personnel, and safety information, festival activities were classified into frequency and satisfaction, and behavioral intention was classified into a single dimension. As a result of the hypothesis testing, the risk perception of seasonal festivals was found to have a negative effect on the frequency of festival activities, and the risk perception was found to have a significant effect on behavioral intention. Additionally, festival activities were found to have a significant effect on behavioral intention.
 Conclusion: Ultimately, it was found that risk perception leads to the frequency of participation in festival activities, which in turn affects behavioral intention. This suggests that for the success of the festival, the organizers need to pay attention to safety facilities, safety personnel, and safety information that affect risk perception.

Meningkatkan Literasi pada Siswa Siswi SD Negeri Grogol Utara 09 melalui Kegiatan Festival

Literacy is a vital aspect of education to ensure students' abilities in comprehending, interpreting, and interacting with various forms of texts. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of festival activities as a strategy to enhance students' literacy at SD Negeri Grogol Utara 09. A case study method was utilized to analyze the impact of festival activities on literacy skills, with 50 students from grades IV and V participating. Festival activities included film screenings, poetry readings, and dance performances, with data collection conducted through observation, interviews, and questionnaires before and after the events. Data analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' reading, writing, and speaking skills after engaging in festival activities. Additionally, students' interest in literacy and creative expression also increased positively. These findings affirm that festival activities can serve as an effective means to expand students' literacy beyond conventional curricula, providing a meaningful contribution to holistic education.

Exploration of the Art of Rodat Dance: How Social Education and Character Education Collaborate with Cultural Students?

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this research is to determine the form of revitalization carried out by the Sumber community in maintaining and developing local culture in Sumber Village, as well as to determine the form of social capital as a form of encouragement for the community to revitalize local culture.
 Methodology: The research used in this research is qualitative with phenomenological methods. The populationthis research is all the Sumber Village community who are involved efforts to revitalize Rodat Dance. Data collection used this research interview sheets and documentation. Data analysis using content analysis, interviews and observation notes. Data collection carried out through in-depth interviews with community, dance artists, village government representatives.
 Main Findings: The results of the research are the revitalization process carried out by the Sumber community in reviving Rodat culture by forming new Rodat members, carrying out activities and discovering new characteristics of Rodat dance, introducing culture the younger generation, holding cultural festivals as first step revitalization. Efforts carry out local cultural revitalization activities in Sumber Village are seen based three basic elements of social capital, namely trust in preserving cultural heritage, building social networks to carry out cultural festival activities.
 Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of applying local wisdom in social education creates promising new paradigm in understanding and overcoming social problems. By integrating local wisdom into the social education curriculum, this approach emphasizes relevance and depth students' understanding of the social reality around them. This is not just about providing information about social issues, but also exploring and utilizing existing local knowledge.

Pengembangan Minat Bakat Islami Anak Melalui Kegiatan Gebyar Muharram

The implementation of community service by PGMI UINSU students was carried out for 10 days, starting from July 24 to August 1. In community service activities, students carry out several planned community service programs. In the work program for this activity, students carry out activities to welcome the Islamic New Year. In welcoming this activity, students created a Muharram Festival activity, collaborating with mosque youth and the community in Dahlia Hamlet, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency. This article uses descriptive research, which means a systematic, factual and accurate description of the facts, characteristics and relationships between the phenomena being investigated (Moleong, 2019). Research that uses a descriptive type is research that is intended to describe, depict, or explain the condition of the object being studied as it is, regarding how to develop children's Islamic talents and interests through Muharram celebration activities carried out by PGMI-3 UINSU students in community service activities carried out in Dahlia Hamlet. Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency. This research shows that starting from the urgency of interest in Islamic talents in children during Muharram Festival activities, namely recognizing interests and talents has many benefits in itself. The first benefit is that it makes it easier to determine the goals to be achieved. An important role in human life is played by interests and talents in all age groups which influence behavior and attitudes, this occurs especially in early childhood. Therefore, by recognizing and developing our interests and talents, we will easily achieve our desired goals. And for Muharram celebration activities, the Muharram celebration competition is divided into several categories, namely: call to prayer competition, short letter memorization competition, daily prayer memorization competition, calligraphy coloring competition, Islamic speech competition and also fashion show competition. And this Muharram Festival activity can become a vehicle for broadcasting Islamic religious values ​​in society.

The need to restore lost data on the last major war of the Russian Empire implies a comprehensive coverage of events during those years, including their non-combat component. Based on the study of the “Journals of Military Actions” of combat units, which reflect little-researched stories of non-combat realities of front-line life, the authors offer a new perspective on the military everyday life of the Russian Imperial Army. The article focuses on the “pleasant” and unexpected nuances of the daily lives of soldiers and officers during the difficult years of war. Researchers have turned to such facts of military reality during the specified period as the organization of the award procedure for the command staff and lower ranks, the organization of prayers as integral components of festive events, the conduct of state (imperial) and religious holidays, as well as recreational activities. This work provides an opportunity to obtain an objective understanding of the multifaceted life and everyday life of people in wartime conditions: when circumstances allowed, performances, games, and sports events were organized and held. Without theoretical knowledge in the field of psychology and stress management techniques, the command of the Russian army organized and encouraged activities aimed at alleviating the negative consequences of combat stress.

Numerous studies on the appeal of tourist sites have been done. However, little study has been conducted on festival attractiveness and its effect on place attachment. This study adopted a mixed-methods strategy to examine the festivals in Odisha. Travel and tourism have become essential economic activities throughout the world in this globalization market. Festivals have recently grown in number, variety, and popularity, making them one of the strongest parts of the tourism industry. During tourism activities, tourists pay close attention to how attractive something is. The festival’s appeal is one of the most important things that determines whether or not a tourist will go and take part in activities. Also, the appeal of a festival can makes tourists more likely to come back, which is the key to the success of festival activities. This paper sought to determine the role of tourism as a long-run economic growth mechanism in Odisha. The Government of Odisha promotes tourism, but the focus remains on the golden triangle, which includes Puri, Konark, and Bhubaneswar. Without a doubt, these locations are well-equipped to meet the needs of both domestic and foreign tourists. Other beautiful places in Odisha still are largely unknown to tourists. In this paper, we try to demonstrate the overall importance of various fairs and festivals for the development of tourism and relate the significance of fairs and festivals.

Pelatihan Pembuatan Ecoprint oleh Mahasiswa Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 6 di SMKS Darul Falah Pagutan

Ecoprint-making training by students from Kampus Mengajar 6 at Darul Falah Pagutan Vocational School to increase students' creativity and give appreciation for the results of students' work which is integrated with the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) Project in project expo festival activities. This training was carried out through literature studies and the implementation of socialization, training, and mentoring, as well as the implementation of project expo festivals. The activity of making eco prints by 6 teaching campus students at Darul Falah Vocational School received a very good response from the school community. This indicates that this activity is very good to follow up on because it can increase students' motivation in honing their creativity and students also feel appreciated for the work they have created
