Acquatic fungi of the Gorbacz and Ostrówki Peatbogs

Studies were undertaken to investigate the mycoflora of two peatbogs of the Białystok Province. In Ihe water of Gorbacz peatbog 20 species were identified and in the Ostrówki-17. Only two, species i.e. <i>Aphanomyces irregularis</i> and <i>Achlya dcbaryana</i>, occurred in both peatbogs.

A New Species of Achlya

Mycelium in semine Cannabis sativae densum; cultura usque ad 1.5 cm. diam., hyphis primariis basi 60-80 t diam. Sporangia rara, proliferantia ut in Achlya soleat. Exitus zoosporarum typicus generis; sporae hibernantes ca. 11 A diam. Gemmae non formatae. Oogonia globosa, numerosa, plerumque 57 ad 77 / diam., in ramulis lateralibus lata, cum tunica crassa, omnino levia et non punctulata. Ova 1-11, fere 3 vel 4 in oogonio quoque, plufimum 28.6-33 ' diam., maturitate subcentrica. Antheridia 1-4 in omni oogonio, origine androgyna, numquam ramosa, ad oogonium acumine applicata.
