After completing their PhD at the University of Montreal and a postdoc at the California Institute of Technology, Carolyn L. Ladd began working for Dow, developing sustainable technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of industrial processes. Kirstin S. Bode spoke with them about Ladd’s career path and queer activism. This interview has been edited for length and clarity. Kirstin S. Bode: Can you tell me a little bit about the research you did for your PhD? Carolyn L.
