Spatial Ability in Learning Mathematics: Systematic Literature Review (SLR)

Spatial ability plays a crucial role in the study of geometry. When related to the context of mathematics, especially geometry, it becomes apparent that having and developing spatial abilities is crucial. Academic achievement, particularly in understanding mathematics and geometry, was closely linked to spatial ability. The researcher conducted a study using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to uncover the latest information on spatial ability in learning mathematics. Summarizing and interpreting a total of 18 accredited journal articles from various databases in the period 2016-2021, the researcher produced a review presented in a graph, including the year of publication, education level, a method used, sample size, and demography. Spatial abilities in mathematics learning have received considerable attention in research. However, the number of studies on spatial abilities in mathematics learning has decreased in the last two years. In addition, spatial abilities in early childhood have not been optimized. This is disappointing because spatial abilities are closely related to children’s cognitive development. This literature review recommends conducting research on spatial abilities in various provinces in Indonesia, emphasizing the significance of high spatial abilities for good mathematical performance. Optimalisasi Pembelajaran Realistik melalui Pelatihan Pemanfaatan Penggunaan Media Kulit Jeruk dalam Pembelajaran Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII di SMP Al Wildan Islamic School

This service activity aims to improve students' mathematical abilities in learning mathematics through training on the use of orange peel media in realistic mathematics learning. Technically, the implementation of the designed training activities is as follows: 1) Planning. At this stage, the team identified problems that occurred by observing the school and interviewing students directly. This aims to find out students' opinions and the obstacles they face while participating in class learning. From the results of these interviews, the team concluded that the topic of discussion that many students had problems with was the concept of building space. 2) Preparation. The team held discussions with teachers at the service site to determine the subjects involved and confirm the prerequisite material. Apart from that, tasks are distributed to teams so that learning can run optimally and be enjoyable. 3) Implementation. The implementation of the service was welcomed by the Principal and Mathematics Teachers. Mathematics teachers are also involved in guiding students using orange peel media when the service is carried out. 4) Evaluation and Reporting. At this stage, the team carries out an evaluation after the service activities are completed and compiles them into a service report for publication.

The influence of classroom management on ability mathematics literacy of class vii students

The research was conducted with the aim of finding out the effect of classroom management on students' literacy skills. Classroom management is carried out to achieve effective learning goals so that it can improve students' abilities in learning mathematics. This research is quantitative research, the population is class VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Rantau Selatan. and took a sample of 30 students, the data collection technique used a questionnaire technique, using a data analysis technique, namely linear regression analysis. From the results obtained in the classroom learning model, it is very important for teachers to strive to create good and enjoyable teaching and learning conditions. In this study, classroom management was quite good, but students' mathematical literacy skills were still lacking due to difficulties in solving mathematical problems. So it can be said that classroom management can influence the mathematical literacy skills of students at SMP Negeri 2 Rantau Selatan.

The Investigation of the Secondary School Students' Acceptance Levels of Flipped Mathematics Classroom

In this study, it is aimed to determine the secondary school students' acceptance levels of flipped mathematics classroom and to examine their acceptance levels in terms of gender, grade level, internet access, and perception of ability in learning mathematics alone at home. Another aim of the present study is to determine whether students' autonomous learning levels predict their acceptance levels of flipped mathematics classroom. The research was carried out using descriptive and correlational survey model. The study group of the research consisted of 345 secondary school students. The Personal Information Form, Flipped Mathematics Classroom Acceptance Scale, and Autonomous Learning Scale were used as data collection tools. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students' acceptance of flipped mathematics classroom was at a good level. While the acceptance levels of the students did not differ according to the variables of gender and grade level, statistically significant differences were determined in terms of the variables of the internet access and the perception of ability in learning mathematics alone at home. In addition, it was determined in the present study that students' autonomous learning levels were statistically significant predictors of their acceptance levels of flipped mathematics classroom.

Implementation of the connected mathematics project learning model on students' mathematical critical thinking ability

Students' low critical thinking ability in learning mathematics is a major problem in research. This needs to be overcome by implementing learning that provides opportunities for students to develop their thinking ability rationally and well-structured in learning mathematics. One learning model that supports this learning is the Connected Mathematics Project (CMP) learning model. This study aimed to describe quantitatively the implementation of the CMP learning model on students' critical thinking ability in mathematics. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a one-group pre-test and post-test post-test design. The research instruments were observation sheets and tests. The results showed that the application of learning observed in 4 meetings in terms of 9 student activities in learning in the sample group met the criteria for being effective. The student's critical thinking ability through the paired t-test showed a significance value of 0.00, which was smaller than the alpha level of 0.05, meaning that there was a significant difference in the average score from the pre-test to the post-test. Furthermore, the n-gain value obtained is 0.36 (medium). Thus, it was concluded that implementing CMP learning on students' critical thinking ability was effective.

The Influence of the Means Ends Analysis (MEA) Learning Model on Students’ Critical Thinking Ability on Fraction Topic

This research is driven by the low of student’s critical thinking ability in learning Mathematics as well as teachers that still use conventional models during teaching and learning activities. This research aims to determine the effect of the Means Ends Analysis (MEA) learning model on students' critical thinking ability. The quasi-experimental method is used in this research along with a quantitative approach. The research design uses a non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test design. This research applied the MEA learning model to the experimental class and the conventional model to the control class. The population in this study was the fifth-grade students at one of the Pangkalpinang State Elementary Schools. Purposive sampling is used as the sampling technique. The samples in this research were Class V-A as the experimental and Class V-B as the control class. The data collection technique uses a critical thinking ability test in the form of essay questions consisting of a pre-test and a post-test. The data analysis technique in this research uses the normality test (Kolmogorov Smirnov test), homogeneity test (Fisher test), and hypothesis test which uses the dependent sample t-test (pooled variance). Based on the results of the hypothesis test using the dependent sample t-test (pooled variance), the value of tcount = 5,185 > ttable = 1,995. So, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted; it means that there is an influence of the MEA learning model on students' critical thinking ability in class V on fraction topic.

Performance assessment: Improving metacognitive ability in mathematics learning

This study aims to examine the improvement of metacognitive abilities in learning mathematics through a variety of formative assessments. The study applied an experimental approach with a pre- and post-tests control group design. Six classes of students were chosen by cluster random sampling as the sample, with two classes serve as the experimental group with performance assessments, two classes serve as the comparison group with essay assessments and two additional classes serve as the control group with multiple choice assessments. The instrument to measure metacognitive ability was developed specifically for the pre-and post-tests. The gain score was analyzed using a one-way ANOVA and continued with the Scheffe test. The study discovered that students who participated in learning with formative assessments of performance showed the highest levels of metacognitive skills followed by those who participated in learning with formative assessments of essays and those who participated in learning with formative assessments of multiple-choice questions came in third. These findings lead to the conclusion that formative assessment of performance has a positive effect on improving metacognitive abilities. According to the characteristics of learning mathematics, this situation might happen because the performance evaluation includes activities that are difficult, comprehensive and associated with daily life. In addition, performance assessment also has intrinsic value because it requires students to organize and present material in their own way. It is recommended that mathematics teachers use formative performance assessments in order to enhance cognitive capacities.

Implementation of Differentiated Learning of Sekolah Penggerak Program in Learning in Elementary Schools

The difference in student’s needs and abilities in learning mathematics made teachers need to vary learning. This study aimed to describe the steps, implementation, and obstacles in the implementation of differentiated learning in mathematics learning in elementary schools. The location of this study was SDN 47/IV Kota Jambi. The subjects of this research were the principal, IVD class teachers, and IVD class students. Qualitative phenomenology was the type of approach used in this study. This study used interview guidelines, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study consisted of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results of the study found that differentiated learning in mathematics subjects begins with mapping students' mathematics learning needs, designing learning according to mapping results, and conducting evaluations on an ongoing basis. The implementation of differentiated learning does not mean that in the process it distinguishes all components of learning for one student at a time. The obstacles that are often faced are limited time and lack of experience so it needs adaptation.

Penalaran Matematis Mahasiswa dalam Menyelesaikan Masalah Trigonometri

Important for students to have reasoning abilities in learning mathematics. This is due to the relationship between mathematics and reasoning. The purpose of this study is to analyze students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving trigonometry problems. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. As many as 36 students in class D semester 1 of mathematics education at State University of Malang were the subjects of this study. Methods of data collection obtained from the implementation of trigonometry problem tests and interviews. Data analysis with three stages namely reduction techniques, presentation, and drawing conclusions. This study resulted in the conclusions (1) students with high abilities met all indicators, namely making conjectures, performing mathematical manipulations, compiling evidence, and drawing conclusions, (2) students with moderate abilities fulfilled two indicators, namely making conjectures and compiling evidence, while (3) students who were low ability to fulfill one indicator, namely submitting conjectures.

The Effect Of STEM-Based Project-Based Learning In Improving High School Students' Visual Mathematical Ability

This research is based on the problem of the low mathematical visual thinking ability in learning mathematics. To overcome this, research was carried out using a STEM-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL-STEM) model. This study examines the problem of improving visual mathematical abilities among students who receive mathematics learning with the STEM-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL-STEM) model. This research is quasi-experimental, the design used is the Nonequivalent Control Group Design using the Purposive Sampling technique. The population in this study were high school students in Bandung Regency in the academic year 2021/2022, with the research sample being high school students in class X. The instrument used in the study was a visual mathematical ability test. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively by using the Independent Sample t-test. The results showed that (1) Overall the application of the PjBL-STEM learning model could improve students' mathematical visual thinking abilities, (2) Improved mathematical visual thinking skills of students whose learning using the PjBL-STEM learning model was significantly better than students who learned using conventional learning models.

Students’ Mathematical Problem Solving Ability Based on The Steps of Ideal Problem Solving Viewed From Adversity Quotient (AQ)

The ability of problem solving is one of essential mathematical abilities in learning mathematics. The facts in the field indicated that the problem solving ability of senior high school students were still low. Adversity Quotient (AQ) was presumed to play a role in the ability of students in solving problems. This research intended to describe the ability of students’ mathematical problem solving in accordance with the steps of IDEAL problem solving viewed from their AQ. The participants were consisted of three students of grade XI in one senior high school in Banda Aceh. The research finding indicates that the problem solving abilities of the students using steps of IDEAL problem solving regarding their AQ are differ. The climber solved problems by using all the steps of IDEAL problem solving, the camper only did four steps, and the quitter did not do any of the steps in solving the problem.

Use of Discovery Learning Model to Improve Problem Solving Ability of Students' Mathematical

Utilization of various learning models at SMP Negeri 20 Bandar Lampung is not optimal. Yet, teachers only use conventional learning models to teach various learning materials and are more active during learning than students. This causes low students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in learning mathematics, so students get a low value. The study aimed to determine whether the mathematical problem-solving abilities of students who used the discovery learning model were better than those whose learning used conventional models in class VII students of SMP Negeri 20 Bandar Lampung. This research is a quasi-experimental design study with two groups. The data collection technique used is a test of mathematical problem-solving ability. The analysis technique in this study is a statistical technique through the t-test. The results of this study indicate that students using the discovery learning model are better than students whose learning uses conventional models on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.

RESEARCH ON STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL ABILITY IN LEARNING MATHEMATICS IN THE LAST DECADE: A BIBLIOMETRIC REVIEW

Mathematical ability is a cognitive ability that needs to be developed in every student because the mathematical ability is closely related to solving problems that involve the relationship of numerical symbols with students' cognitive activities. This study aims to look at the description of previous research related to mathematical abilities in learning mathematics in the last decade using bibliometric analysis methods. The data taken from the Scopus database was refined so that it became 157 publications. The United States of America is the most influential country and has high cooperation with other countries in this field. The focus of this research is: 1) ICT, Augmented reality, Computational thinking, and university; 2) mathematical problems, pre-service teachers, and higher education: 3) mathematics abilities, mathematics literacy, and outcomes; 4) high mathematical ability, technology and critical thinking ability. The results of this study can be used as a reference for future researchers

PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MODEL AUDITORY INTELLECTUALLY REPETITIONi TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEPI MATEMATIKA PESERTA DIDIK KELAS i IX

Understanding of concepts is a very important ability in learning mathematics, but the reality in the field is that students' understanding of mathematical concepts in class VII UPT SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting is still low. One of the efforts made to increase understanding of concepts is to apply the Auditory Intellectually Repetition model which aims to describe whether students' understanding of mathematical concepts in class IX UPT SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting in the 2022/2023 academic year has increased. This type of research is pre-experimental with a one group pre-test post-test design. The research population was all students of class IX at SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting. In this study only used the experimental class without any control class and the sampling used saturated sampling technique. The instrument used is a test of understanding mathematical concepts in the form of descriptions. The hypothesis test used is the paired t test. Based on the analysis results obtained P-value = 0.000 with a significant level of α = 0.05, so it can be concluded that students' understanding of mathematical concepts using the Auditory Intellectually Repetition learning model in learning increased in class IX UPT SMP Negeri 2 Padang Ganting. Inquiry and Discovery Learning Model in Student's Mathematic Representation Ability

Representational ability is a very important ability in learning mathematics, with representational ability students can solve mathematical problems. This study aims to compare the two Inquiry and Discovery learning models in overcoming students' representation abilities. This research was conducted at a school in NTB Province, Bima Regency with a total of 60 students with a sample of 30 participants from Science 1 and 30 participants from Science 2. Data collection techniques used observation and interviews. While the instrument uses a test. Data analysis techniques used Prerequisite test (Normality and Homogeneity) and Hypothesis Test (N_Gain, t test). In terms of this research, it shows that during representation learning, these two models really help students to understand the use of mathematical representations.

Penerapan Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe NHT Ditinjau dari Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa Sekolah Dasar

The background of this research is the importance of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in learning mathematics. This study aims to determine how to increase elementary school students' mathematical problem solving abilities through the application of NHT type cooperative learning and to increase elementary school students' mathematical problem solving abilities through conventional (expository) learning. This research is a quasi-experimental research with Pretest-Postest Control Group design. The research instrument is a test of mathematical problem solving ability. This research was conducted at a public elementary school with A accreditation. The population of this study was students of SDN Kanigaran 3 Probolinggo, East Java, with two classes of fifth grade students as respondents. VA class students as the experimental class and VB class students as the control class. The data in this study were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of this study indicate: (a) the average mathematical ability of elementary school students through NHT type cooperative learning is better than that of elementary school students through conventional (expository) learning, and (b) the improvement of elementary school students' mathematical abilities through cooperative learning type NHT is better than elementary school students through conventional learning (expository).

Analysis of the Effect of Powtoon Application Interactive Learning Media on Mathematics Learning Ability of Elementary School Students

This study aims to see the positive and significant effect of interactive learning media on the application of powtoon in developing the learning abilities of fourth-grade students at SDN Pekayon 12 in learning mathematics. This study used the Tru-Experiment research method, using a post-test-only design. The samples came from Class IV A and B, with 27 students in Class A and 24 in Class B. Research instruments are measuring tools to do something and research tools to collect data as processed materials. One instrument makes it easy to measure, collect, compare and process. Whether or not a research instrument is determined by its validity and reliability. Instrument validity is the accuracy with which you measure what you want to measure, and reliability reflects variable data correctly and does not deviate from the actual situation. The instrument is valid if it can provide reliable data consistent with the actual situation. Instruments are said to be reliable when they can reveal reliable data. The results of this study indicated an effect of interactive learning media on the application of powtoon on students' learning abilities in learning mathematics in class IV SDN Pekayon 12. This was evidenced by the data of the Validity Test, Reliability Test, Normality Test (Lillifors Test), Homogeneity Test (Fisher's Test) and T-Test.

Kemampuan Penalaran Analogi Matematis di Indonesia: Systematic Literature Review

This study aims to describe the results of research on students' analogical reasoning abilities in learning mathematics. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The sample consisted of 17 articles from SINTA and Google Scholar indexed journals published from 2018 to October 2022. The results of this study were reviewed based on the journal index, year of publication, year of publication, journal index, level of study, sample size, research location, and material covered. used in research analysis of students' analogical reasoning abilities in learning mathematics. By using the SLR method, it was found that the most articles were published in SINTA 4, there was an increase in the number of articles published in SINTA each year, the sample size used was less than 30 subjects, the location was dominated by Java, algebra and geometry materials were mostly used. used in students' mathematical literacy research based on cognitive style, and in terms of the four components of analogical reasoning, namely encoding, inferring, mapping, and application it was found that there were still many students who had difficulty in the mapping and applying.

Analisis Kemampuan Numerisasi pada Siswa Kelas 6 SD N 56/I Desa Aro

Education in the 21st century which guides students to be able to participate in the development of the times which are full of challenges at this time. Numerization ability is one of the requirements in realizing skills in 21st century education. This research uses a type of qualitative research using descriptive methods. The purpose of this research is to be able to find out students' numerization abilities in learning mathematics. In this study using a form of research that is a case study. The stages in this research are starting from the implementation, preparation and final stages. The instruments used in this study to obtain data were tests and interviews. The results obtained in this study where the ability of students on numerization skills in solving mathematical nemerization ability questions is still moderate. This is evidenced by the results of the average score of the student test scores that have been given where out of 23 students there are 6 students belonging to the low category, 12 students including k in the medium category and 5 students belonging to the high category.

The Role of Prior Mathematical Knowledge and Interest in Mathematics on Mathematical Concept Understanding Ability in Senior High School Students

The role of prior mathematical knowledge and interest in mathematics as internal factors that can influence the mathematical concept understanding ability in learning mathematics in schools is important to consider. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of prior mathematical knowledge and interest in mathematics to mathematical concept understanding ability. This study uses a quantitative research approach with data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis. The participants in this study totaled 91 students who were all students of class X MA As-syafiiyah 02 Kota Bekasi for academic year 2022/2023. The results of this study were obtained: 1) Students' prior mathematical knowledge had a significant effect on students' mathematical concept understanding partially 2) Students' interest in learning mathematics had a significant effect on student’s mathematical concept understanding partially 3) prior mathematical knowledge and interest in learning mathematics simultaneously had a significant influence to the mathematical concept understanding ability. This can be interpreted that the acquisition of students' mathematical concept understanding ability can be increased by considering the factors of prior mathematical knowledge and students' interest in learning mathematics.
