The Website as a Virtual Host of the Museum: a Comparative Study. Three National Museums Meet Digital Audiences

The article focuses on analyzing the websites of three prominent national museums in Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia. These websites are examined within the broader context of the cultural institutions' activities, as they hold significant importance in the cultural infrastructure of their respective neighboring Balkan countries. A comparison table is utilized to establish evaluation criteria for the digital platforms, with a particular emphasis on content. The article extensively characterizes the sections dedicated to the main and temporary exhibitions, which play a crucial role in facilitating digital engagement with both existing and potential audiences. The chosen approaches for showcasing museum teams and collections are also scrutinized. In addition, gaps and inconsistencies are identified by comparing these websites with others in the museum domain. The evaluation of video materials and digital tours of the exhibitions adheres to the high standards set by modern digital technologies in the cultural sector. Consequently, the article concludes by formulating three recommendations aimed at enhancing the websites of the national history museums in Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia. These recommendations are intended to address the identified shortcomings and improve the overall digital experience provided by these institutions.

Impact of Closure of South African Universities on Wellbeing of International Students During Covid-19 Pandemic

The surging coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has impacted all spheres of the economy not sparing higher education in South Africa. The impact was felt by both staff and students not only on teaching and learning but also on their socio-economic, health and physical well-being. This paper sought to explore the experiences international students during the closure of the universities in the country due to Covid-19 pandemic. This paper adopted the data from self-designed questionnaire administered to 68 international students from a public university in South Africa The quantitative data were analysed using the descriptive statistics. The results show that international students were more vulnerable and exposed to socio-economic and mental challenges including sense of low esteem, financial distress and emotional distress during the pandemic which impacted negatively on their academic outputs and social wellbeing, amongst other things. The findings also revealed that the university authorities did not take the necessary steps to address the life circumstances of the international students. The paper, therefore, highlights the holistic understanding of how to mitigate and alleviate the socio-economic impacts of such pandemic in future through opening dialogue, changing institutional policy to respond to emergency as at when it occurs, and the universities or higher institutions should put in place intervention strategies to assist foreign students during the outbreak of a disease.

Teaching M. Auezov's Epic Novel "The Way of Abai" at School

The article will focus on the spiritual heritage of Mukhtar Auezov, whose name is widely known and has become the pride of world literature and culture. It is considered that the historical and cultural heritage of the writer who presented the great Abai to the world is an inexhaustible treasure. New ways of studying the epic novel "The Way of Abai" by the great writer, master artist M. Auezov, who raised the historical and cultural values of the Kazakh nation into the space of universal values and culture, are considered. The level of teaching of Mukhtar Auezov's epic novel "The way of Abai" in its degree will be discussed. For this purpose, the school studies the research works of domestic and foreign scientists on the problem of teaching the works of M. Auezov. The research works and technology of the domestic methodologist-scientist, academician K. Bitibaeva are considered in the complete teaching of the novel-epic "The way of Abai". The outstanding works of methodologist-teacher K. Bitibayeva in Abay studies and auezov studies will be shown. Presents K. Bitibaeva's advanced methodology of teaching the epic novel "The way of Abai" through problem analysis and image analysis. The author defines the significance of the technology of the domestic methodologist K. Bitibaeva and suggests applying it in practice at school. Emphasizes the outstanding scientific works of K. Bitibaeva, comprehensively studies her search. It is concluded that teacher technology is used by the community of domestic teachers, as well as its innovativeness prevails.
