SIFAT FISIK MATERIAL PAPAN KOMPOSITE BERBAHAN SERAT TEBU DENGAN MATRIX RESIN POLYESTER

Sugar cane fiber is an organic waste mostly produced by sugar factories in Indonesia such as in Gorontalo Province. If it is properly processed, it will have high economic value and will help the community’s economy during Covid 19 pandemic. This fiber, however, is easy to find, and it is not dangerous for human health. The important thing is that this fiber can be degraded naturally. Hence it can be used as composite reinforcing fiber which can help overcome environment problems. This study aimed at investigating the physical characteristics of natural fiber composite-based new material with characteristics and structures which can be used for automotive industry. The method applied in this study was by doing physical test such as density, water content, water absorption level, and thickness development with random-pattern treatments consisting of fraction variations of sugar cane fiber volumes of 10%, 30%, and 50% and fraction variations of resin volumes of 90%, 80%, and 70%. Each treatment consisted of 3 specimens with determined size, and they were tested in laboratory in order to find out the physical. Findings revealed that the highest density was in specimen 3 with fiber volume of 50% and resin volume of 70%, and the average value was 1.162 g/cm3. Meanwhile, the highest water content was specimen 1 with fiber volume of 10% and resin volume of 90% obtaining value of 0.51%. The water absorption level during 24 hours that obtained maximal result and value of 6.89% was specimen 2 with fiber volume of 30% and resin volume of 80%. The result for thickness development during 24 hours that obtained value of 10% was specimen 1 with fiber volume of 10% and resin volume of 90%. If it is validated with Indonesian National Standard, some of physical test results should be further formulated to get result based on Indonesian National Standard. Regarding the explanation, the fiber volume and resin volume fractions highly influenced the natural fiber (sugar cane fiber) composite-based new material making and it can be used for automotive industry.

Modifikasi Sistem Monitoring Data Universal Testing Machine Galdabini Type PM10 dengan Berbasis Arduino Uno

This study aims to repair damage to the Galdabini Type PM10 Universal Testing Machine (UTM) on a data acquisition system with an automatic system, design a conventional data acquisition system to a control system using the Arduino Uno AT Mega 328 microcontroller program and process the desired data and graphics with the help of the PLX application - DAQ Ms. Excel. This research uses the experimental method which is a basic framework used as a reference in conducting research which contains stages for solving problems in research. The research was conducted at the Materials Testing Laboratory of the Pontianak State Polytechnic Department of Mechanical Engineering by designing the input and output program for the PM10 Galdabini UTM data. In the tensile test, the output data displays force and addition data, a graph of the attraction and addition force relationship. While in Ms.Excel data obtained tensile stress, strain, modulus of elasticity, the proportion of changes in length and diameter, as well as a graph of the relationship between tensile stress and strain. In testing the compression output data displays force and shortening data, a graph of the compression and shortening force relationship. In Ms.Excel data obtained compressive stress, strain, modulus of elasticity, as well as a graph of the relationship between compressive stress and strain. In the bending test, the output data displays force and deflection data, a graph of the relationship between bending and deflection forces. In Ms. Excel, we get data on bending stress, modulus of elasticity, and graphs of the relationship between bending stress and deflection. PENGARUH GETARAN PADA MOTOR SAMPLING PUMP ROUGHER SCAVENGER TERHADAP KONSUMSI DAYA LISTRIK DI PT NEWMONT NUSA TENGGARA

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of vibration that occur on a machine on its power consumption along with knowing the damage that made the machine vibrated.This research conducted at PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara on Concentrator Area. Sampling pump rougher scavenger machine is used as an experiment devices. Microlog CMVA55 with accelerometer sensor was used for measuring vibration velocity and data logger was used for power consumption measurer. The vibration velocity value was taken on five point in sampling pump rougher scavenger machine and the power consumption value was taken in electrical power room. Both of the measuring result will be compared to find the influence of vibration toward machine power consumption. Fish bone analysis was used to found out the root cause of the excessive vibration on the machine. The solution of the vibration problem was found by using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis method. The results showed there isan influence toward machine power consumption by the increase of vibration velocity. For 0.06 mm/s vibration velocity excalation, the power consumption increase to 40 watt per hour. For 0.08 mm/s, power consumption increase to 80 watt per hour and the highest is 324 watt per hour with vibration velocity excalation up to 0.36 mm/s. The highest power consumption 17 kWh occurred on machine A with vibration velocity average is 6.12 mm/s and the lowest occurred on machine B that is 15 kWh with vibration velocity average is 2.99 mm/s.Keywords: vibration, vibration velocity, vibration spectrum, power consumption, mechanical vibration, spectrum analyze.
