Cellular senescence is characterized by a permanent cessation of cell division and the acquisition of a distinctive secretory profile, termed the Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP). With advancing age, senescent cells accumulate in tissues and contribute to age-related pathologies by fostering chronic inflammation and remodeling the tumor microenvironment.
