Abstract

Starting from the well-known stable free radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), novel diazenium betaines were obtained. These were characterized by NMR, IR, MS, ESR, CV, UV–Vis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. A discussion about their diradicaloid character is also described.
