Abstract

Abstract The article analyzes the geographical situation of Qubur al-Walaydah with focus on the historical communication routes as well as the economic and the demographic background of the surrounding region during the Iron Age (12th - 7th centuries BC). During this period the site had various functions and changed from a fortified settlement initiated by the imperial Egyptian government of Palestine during the 12th century BC to an agricultural site in the hinterland of large fortified settlements.
