Abstract

Between inclusion and exclusivness. Bicultural families in systemic counseling There are many immigrants in Germany who are looking for help in institutions of the welfare system. This may cause uncertainty among professionals. The debate on integration, inclusion and exclusion sharpens the conflicts of professionals working with people with migration background. This shows that neither inclusion nor exclusion are acceptable concepts to describe postmodern society. With the example of bicultural couples and families a third way of discussing the problem of inclusion and exclusion will be opened. »Exclusiveness« seems to be a more helpful concept of describing cultural differences of social systems. Some helpful suggestions for counselling are given.
