Abstract

A range of urethane elastomers (PUR) with different concentration of polyether soft segments (PTMO) were synthesized from polymeric 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (p-MDI). For comparison, similar polymers from monomeric MDI (m-MDI) as well as elastomers with different types of soft segments were prepared. The obtained materials were analyzed for: density, hardness, stress-strain characteristics up to break, reversible stress-strain characteristics, elastic return energy, strain energy, energy dissipation and abrasive wear resistance. The significant differences were found between the properties of urethane elastomers synthesized from polymeric MDI and those observed for similar polymers prepared from monomeric MDI.
