Abstract

Storage of alumina has no influence on its behaviour in chromatography. However, a minimum storage time of two hours should be allowed after addition of the required amount of water for deactivation. When using the Karl-Fischer titration method for the determination of the chromatographic activity of aluminium oxides, the quantity of water used for rehydration must be taken into consideration.
