Abstract

Photoelectric observations of intensity and polarization in the zodiacal light at Jungfraujoch were reduced under the assumption that the polarization arises from free electrons. This gives a mean electron density of about 600 cm−3 near the earth and a density of dust particles of 10−15 cm−3, which is nearly constant through the ecliptic.
