Abstract
In earlier experiment the faculty to localize sounds and white noise of normal hearing controls and patients with different types of peripherical disturbances in hearing was investigated. The present paper deels with the influence of not acute localized cerebral lesions on noise localization in these patients. A normal hearing control group was also examined. An unvisible sound source could be moved 120° in front of the patient, the patient had to localize this sound source by directing a light arrow with one hand. The patients with cerebral lesion were significantly worse than the controls. The group with left-sided cerebral lesions scored significantly worse that the others within their right auditory fields. Basing on these results we assume that this kind of troubles is caused by a disturbance of auditory-motor coordination and has to be in some connection with cerebral dominance.
