Abstract

Decarbonylation of Diphenylacetic and Triphenylacetic Acids Catalysed by ProtonsIn acetic acid solutions which contain less than 4 M H2SO4 the logarithm of the pseudo‐first order rate constant increases in a straight line with the Hammett acidity function −H0. At the same acidity and temperature the rate constant for triphenylacetic acid is higher by two orders of magnitude than for diphenylacetic acid.
