Abstract

7α[ 3H]-25-Hydroxycholesterol and 7α-[ 3H]-Δ 5,25(27)-cholestadien-3β-ol were administered to Convallaria majalis L. plants and the biosynthesized labeled convallamarogenin were isolated in both cases. The results are discussed in relation to the isomerization of the Δ 24(25)-double bond of desmosterol to the Δ 24(27)-double bond in convallamarogenin.
