Abstract

Athletes must be nominated by their respective National Olympic or Paralympic Committee in order to be admitted to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In case of a Committee’s suspension – such as Russia's Na-tional Olympic Committee in 2018 – the question of direct admission rights for the athlete against the International Olympic or Paralympic Committee arises. The author analyzes the athletes’ rights for admission to the Olympic and Paralympic Games under the regular process and in case of a National Committee’s suspension. In particular, the guidelines issued as a result of the suspension concerning the admission as a “neutral athlete” are examined.
