Abstract

One traditional use of radionuclides is unit area weight determination to the transmission and the backscattering methods. Noticeable progress in advancement of radiometric unit area weight measuring techniques has been and is being made above all thanks to the application of microelectronics. The use of microcomputers rendered possible the solution of the main problem of data processing – the determination of the unit area weight value from the detector signal with nonlinear calibration functions – as well as considerable increase of the efficiency of measuring systems.
