Abstract

Polyzirconosiloxanes were synthesised trough the hydrolytic co-condensation of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), methyltriethoxysilane (MTES) and zirconium isopropoxide (ZIP) (Process A) or tetramethoxysilane (TMOS), trimethylsilyl isocyanate (TMSI) and ZIP (Process B). In both processes, ethylacetoacetat was added to provide ethylacetato derivatives of polyzirconosyloxanes. When the obtained hybrids were subjected to heat treatment, the zirconia component crystallises in nano size. The XRD, FTIR and 29Si NMR showed that the crystallisation depends on the random and block sequence in the main chain of the polyzirconosiloxanes derived from Processes A and B, respectively.
