Abstract

A novel lithium bis(oxalato)borate (LiBOB)-based zirconium dioxide dispersed poly(vinylidenefluoride) (PVdF)/poly(vinylchloride) (PVC) blend composite polymer electrolytes (CPE) has been prepared by conventional solution casting technique by varying the filler concentrations. The prepared membranes were all subjected to SEM, XRD and ac impedance studies. The conductivity results show that the enhanced conductivity 1.53 × 10 −3 S/cm at 343 K is obtained only for 2.5 wt% filler containing membrane. The XRD results also confirm that increase in the degree of crystallinity with the further increase in the filler content beyond 2.5 wt%. The phase morphological studies also confirm the enhancement in conductivity. The calculated activation energy is also in support of increase in amorphousity of the membrane. Synthesis of LiBOB salt has also been described.
