Abstract

The studies ofeffects of pyridyl ring alkylated tachpyr (tach- n -Me-py , r n =3, 4, 5, and 6) on complexation of Mn(II), Fe(II), Ni(II),Cu(II) and Zn(II) were also investigated. The steric repul-sions between the 6-substituents at the threefold axis of thepseudo-octahedral coordination sphere in the 6-alkylatedcomplexes result in a substantially weakened metal-ligandinteraction, cause bond angle and length distortions,decrease of the coordination number to five, and shift of d-delectronic transitions to lower energies.
