Abstract
Amorphous films of Zn-Co alloys presenting soft magnetic behavior were produced by electrodeposition on Cu substrates. Samples obtained potentiostatically at −1.4 V using solutions with 0.17 and 0.21 mol·L−1 of CoSO4, and 0.03 mol·L−1 of ZnCl2, resulted in films with 14 and 15 at.% of Co, respectively. These results contrast with polycrystalline samples with 5 at.% of Co obtained with 0.1 mol·L−1 of CoSO4 and 0.33 mol·L−1 of ZnCl2. The magnetic coercivities of the amorphous samples are smaller than 13 mT, while the polycrystalline sample does not present ordered magnetic behavior. The structure, morphology, composition, and magnetic behavior of the samples were analyzed.
