Abstract

Samples were plastically deformed using a hydraulic press, achieving a reduced thickness of from 2 to 16%. Isochronal cumulative annealing for 1 h at a temperature range from room temperature to 725°C was then performed. After each annealing, the positron measurement was performed using a Doppler broadening spectrometer with a coaxial high purity germanium detector. The 68 Ge/ 68 Ga positron source was used for Doppler broadening measurements. The aim of the presented investigations is to study the annealing behaviour of deformed stainless steel 1.4301 (EN) in terms of defects detected by positron annihilation methods while closely observing the influence of the reverse transformation of deformation induced martensite on the obtained dependencies.
