Abstract

The zirconium alloy produced from zirconium concentrate by the electroslag method contains 27–35% Si, 19–38% Zr, 0.3–0.5% W, 3–6% Al, 2–5% Mg, and 0.1% Ca; the remainder is iron. This alloy increases the impact strength of steel by 30–70%, reduces the chill blemishing, and improves the strength of iron castings.
