Abstract

We prepared polymer composites by dispersion of crystalline inorganic zirconium sulphate (ZrSO4)2 with polymer polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) system. Variation in Semi-crystalline phase of composites confirmed by X-ray diffraction technique. Decrease in direct band gap (Eg) has been demonstrated by Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy technique. Chemical modification of PVA moiety addressed by FTIR tool. Optical microscopy illustrates miscibility of organometallic with polymer system. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrates the functional network of organo metallic filler in the polymer system. Atomic force microscopy, lateral topographic (2D, 3D) micrographs locate the subatomic network of fillers. The thermogravimetry technique exhibit the moderate increase in the glass transition (Tg), degradation (Td) and melting (Tm) temperature. Dielectric constant (Ɛr) has been measured as a function of frequency. The dissipation factor in PVA/Zr(SO4)2 decreases due to the homogenous integration of crystalline zirconia with semi crystalline system of PVA. The shore ‘A’ durometer test confirms the softness of miscible blends.
