Abstract

For years supporters of the Zion National Park, in southwestern Utah, dreamed of connecting the state’s two main north-south routes, highways 91 and 89, to improve access to the park. In 1930 that connection was made with the opening of the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway and Tunnel.
