Abstract

1. Zn content of gill filaments and gill arches of Zn-treated and untreated dogfish was analysed. 2. Both gill arches and filaments accumulated ZnZn concentrations reached a maximum value on the fourth day of treatment. 3. Differences of Zn content due to sex were found in gill arches but not in gill filaments. 4. Differences among gill filaments in their Zn accumulation per unit of dry weight were investigated. The higher the dry weight of the filaments, the higher the accumulation. 5. Results are discussed in relation to data on teleosts.
