Abstract

AbstractThe guanidine‐pyridine ligands DMEGqu, TMGqu, and DMEGpy were reacted with zinc benzoate, zinc acetylacetonate, zinc bromide, zinc tetrafluoroborate, and zinc d,l‐lactate in order obtain the corresponding complexes. The compounds were structurally characterized by X‐ray crystallography and further characterized by NMR, IR, and MS measurements. All complexes were tested as initiators in the melt polymerization of d,l‐lactide and the influence of the anion effect was studied. The bis(chelate) tetrafluoroborate complex 7 exhibited the highest activity.
