Abstract

The corrosion behaviour of galvanised steel in water has been the subject of many investigations. An attempt has here been made to determine the influence of lead on the corrosion resistance of zinc in different types of water. It is shown that lead promotes intergranular attack, but the mechanism seems to have a mechanical or electrochemical-mechanical basis, rather than a purely electrochemical one.
