Abstract

Virtual reality (VR) applications have been increasingly used in the clinical field. Its applications in psychotherapies is becoming widespread with researches. The use of VR in psychotherapy, specifically as an exposure therapy approach, is prominently used in the treatment of specific phobias, which is one of the most common clinical presentations. There is a substantial body of literature investigating the effectiveness of VR applications in the treatment of specific phobias. The purpose of this review is to introduce the virtual environment scenarios used in virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) applications for various specific phobias.
